    I’m a university student from China, and I just found out about this project through your TED talk. I’ve always been a child who was fond of trees and plants, but due to the terrible news everyday and horrible current situation about forest decay, gradually I felt hopeless and I chose to shut my heart to my dream--all the green shades and gentle breeze among the trees. So moved to see all the efforts you made and to know that there are people fighting for forest, and this definitely brings me hope.

      Chinese need to forgive all animals bcoz you dont leave dogs let alone trees.

    Thank you Dr for this work. I am wondering about species selection considering climate change. Should we still use local sample forests or should we go to localities that mirror what the climate will be like in our near future? I am from Minnesota, USA and our planting zone was just changed from a 4c to 5a, and many gardeners now say we should be planting trees now that are currently growing around 600 miles south, because in 20 years that is what it will be here.

    so if along my land, in the Mediterranean area, the following grow spontaneously: oaks, maples, laurel, butcher's broom, ivy, blackthorn, blackthorn, hawthorn and dogwood, and I also want to forest another area close to this one, do I have to repeat this sequence??

    Sir, How can we get seeds of these species?? I am very interested in growing trees in and around my neighbouring parks. Please let me know from where to buy or how to get it! I live in Delhi which is notorious for its pollution, So now you know why I need it so much. Thanks!

    • @MahiMahi-yu5jo
      @MahiMahi-yu5jo ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wouldn't you need species native to Delhi region? You will need to do a lot of research for that. Once you find them, you can get seeds from the species. Most are available commercially, while some need to be scavenged from the plants

    • @adeelarshi9426
      @adeelarshi9426 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can directly buy small saplings from nurseries also and then you can plant them. The plants should be 3 ft long and strong.

    Hi I have question why u use native plants only, why not fruit trees.

    • @j1407bmoon
      @j1407bmoon ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Fruit trees usually don't grow in the wild. Generations of hybridization and selective breeding made the food trees of today.

    • @issakatwesige5214
      @issakatwesige5214 ปีที่แล้ว

      The planting technique is based on Potential Natural Vegetation. I guess fruits can only be included if they fall in the native category.

    Thanks for such information. I have one question how the area coverage in horizontal space is calculated

    • @pappafritto
      @pappafritto ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess they count the quantity of plants per area so they will know how many of each specie to plant in their future project

  • @nanwuamitofo
    @nanwuamitofo ปีที่แล้ว

    After doing a survey, buying local seedlings/saplings, etc., should they be all planted at the same time?
    Or should some be allowed to grow taller first before others are added, say, a few years later? I imagine that could or would or should happen in nature as well.
    Thanks in advance to anyone who knows!

    Why don't you publish lists of Native trees in various regions on your website for ready reference? why should enthusiasts all over the country reinvent the wheel?

    • @Spaxcore
      @Spaxcore 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because it is very dependent on your locality. A forest even a 20km away from you could have wildly different native species success depending on soil type, water levels, altitude, and sunshine hours. It is best to see what is successful near you to increase your chances of success.

    hi, there is question how to calculate coverage percentage of particular species , is there any formula or just by ocular estimation we decide the % of the species, or if we are doing it by only ocular estimation so is it authentic for research purpose?
    kindly reply......
