- I have started yet another day job to supplement my income as a struggling artist. It always feels bittersweet, because while I love the stability of a part time job, I feel like I’ve now lost that time for my art and business to put cash in my pocket. But having this current 9-5 has been good so far. It’s not creatively taxing, so I have creative energy leftover for my work and it’s not physically taxing, so I don’t feel like collapsing on the couch.
I also feel good about contributing financially to the household to help put our family in a better position, so it’s definitely a win! I just hope to be able to contribute with my art business someday.

have you ever considered using a brush to shade? if the right brush is used, you could get that same cute hand shaded effect as you would by manually shading it!
@@SkyMist227 I use the dry brush on procreate to shade! I like the texture it gives. Do you have a favourite brush you use?
@@MerindaDesignsI think they mean you might be able to find or create a brush with a pattern/texture that replicates the look of hand-coloring with a small brush size like you did for this piece, while being able to cover much more area per stroke. It's a good option to save your wrist some strain and make your workflow faster, given that you can get the right brush! I know some artists use custom brushes to imitate hatching over a large surface while not needing to draw every individual line, so that they can speed up their process for a certain style.
Of course that's just a suggestion, I can definitely see the appeal in wanting a more traditional feel and how hand-drawing could be soothing. Ultimately your art looks really nice as is, and whatever works best for you works best!

@@danny_jarratt I guess I'm kinda lucky the new job is quite low energy and simple, so I still have some creative energy throughout the week. Good luck with it all! I am currently loving creating videos with my art and that also feeds into the creative cycle of energy
