Rupert Spira is a prominent contemporary figure in the field of nonduality, a spiritual movement emphasizing the underlying oneness of reality. He is known for his clear and relatable explanations of Advaita Vedanta, an ancient Indian philosophy centered on the unity of the individual self (Atman) with the ultimate reality (Brahman).
Rupert studied the teachings of Advaita Vedanta and the tantric tradition of Kashmir Shaivism through Dr. Francis Roles, Shantananda Saraswati, P.D.Ouspensky, Krishnamurti, Rumi, Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta, Robert Adams, Francis Lucille, Atmanada Krishnamenon and Jean Klein.
    In Rupert Spira’s Talks:
    • He delves into the core principles of Advaita Vedanta.
    • Guides us on a journey of self-discovery.
    • Explores the path to spiritual awakening and enlightenment.
Key Themes in Rupert Spira’s Teachings:
    • True Self-Awareness and Overcoming Ego:
    • Spira addresses crucial questions such as how we can cultivate true self-awareness and overcome the limitations of the ego.
    • Involves dissolving the illusion of a separate self, a key aspect of Advaita Vedanta.
    • Nature of Consciousness:
    • Explores the nature of consciousness and how we can access our true nature.
    • According to Spira, consciousness is the fundamental reality, and understanding this can lead to spiritual awakening.
    • Interconnectedness and Non-Duality:
    • Emphasizes the interconnectedness of all things.
    • By understanding non-duality, we can realize the unity of the individual self with the ultimate reality.
    Insights from Rupert Spira:
    • Non-Duality and Interconnectedness:
    • Understanding the interconnectedness of all things and the non-dual nature of reality.
    • Spiritual Awakening:
    • The process of realizing your true nature as pure consciousness.
    • Overcoming Ego:
    • Dissolving the illusion of a separate self and overcoming the limitations imposed by the ego.
    • Alternative Model of Consciousness:
    • Spira challenges traditional views of karma and reincarnation.
    • Proposes that consciousness is primary, with mind and matter being secondary and tertiary, respectively.
    • Aligns more closely with our direct experience of consciousness as the fundamental reality.
    • States of Consciousness:
    • Uses the analogy of the three states of consciousness-waking, dreaming, and deep sleep.
    • Argues that deep sleep, representing pure consciousness, is the most real state, while the waking state, filled with perceived objects and matter, is the least real.
    • Deeper Understanding of Karma:
    • Criticizes the simplistic and dualistic interpretation of karma.
    • Advocates for a deeper understanding where consciousness shapes mind and matter, providing a more nuanced perspective on cause and effect within our experiences.

I do not give my permission to all the events of my life to colour my Self, but I know being one with them in 2 ways, a conventinal ann ultimate one. In the first one Karma works and in the second one it stops, by being gone.Thankyou for your amazing teaching😊

It's not easy distracting from Rupert, but you did it with that background noise.
