Pete: Do the truck and yes leave the patina on it, yes it would make for a great advertisement at the farmers market. You are really a great small farmer and keep up the great interaction with us.

Keep up the great work!!! Love the videos, you've inspired me to start my own small farm, I'm 14, my family farms in Saskatchewan canada, I've started my own part of the farm with a little bit of land my grandfather and father let me use, I restored our old barn built in 1912, I've purchased and restored a 1961 cockahutt 560 and my grandfather let's me use his allis chalmers B and his massey 135, he let's me use his old square baler and lots of our old cattle equipment, we havent done cattle in 20 years and I've bought my own and worked for all if it with my own money, I watched your video on dexter cattle and now I own two of my own.

Ok so I have got sheep since i was 13 I think my dad helps me most of the time but next year I will try to do most things my self except moving them over the road . And try to not use chemical fertilizer next year bc It’s not to good for them. I bought own manure spreader with my brother (a Bergman m64 spreader for those who are interested in that) and we have a manure overflow so it’s great timing for me

I am loving to see both you and your wife sitting peaceably together on the side of the chicken area conversing about your day to day farm experiences. Seeing how she is so settled in to what you both are doing tells me that you are the salt of the earth and your drive is to be the best small farm that you can be and you are working to harmoniously maximize your land without depleting it. Looking forward to seeing that truck on the move.

    PETE!!
Yes, fix the truck!! If I could ever own a small farm. I would do it just like you, but with one new tractor to replace your larger ones. I'd love your Farmall H and that tiny one with the snow plow. And of course to have an old truck exactly like that! Just for goin to town! Please do it. I would personally love to see it all shiny and new like your H. Its just so pretty.
I love your channel for a few reasons. But I think one of the main reasons is bc my mom grew up outside Buffalo(Im born, raised and still in Houston, tx) in Elma on a dairy farm. Every year we visit the 1,000 islands and lately all I want is to start a small farm like yours in that region. Watching you, I get a glimpse into NY farm life and makes me want it more.

Great truck. Got my grandpa’s 1952 international l110 running few years ago. Hadn’t run since 1973. Turned her over by hand, cleaned carb and changed few gaskets, cleaned points and she fired right up.

Pete, the truck could be really cool to take to the farmers market. Put a nice stained oak wooden box on it, like the ones of yesterday. Paint it bright red and you're ready to standout at the market! Your videos are so much fun to watch because you are so relaxed living your life on the farm. Thanks Pete for sharing Darrel

I'm so thrilled you are doing this. I found my 1969 AMC AMX 390 AFTER SITTING FOR 25 YEARS.. The nice guy that owned it was a great mechanic and rebuilt the whole drive train before parking it 25 years ago. The only rust was from the car cover holds moisture that will rust. He painted it red and his wife drove it to work for a few years. I knew something had to be done and it called me. My wife thought I was a nut to take on the project. It took me two years to complete but it's never done. I hope it stays on your brain and it gets down right. Go to some car shows with your wife and kids and they'll tell those stories to their grandkids. You made my day. Don't let you tube nuts get in your head. Just think someday they get some help. Kill them with kindness. Only takes over coming stage 4 tonsil cancer to make you only look at the good stuff and shake off the bad. Neal

Yes, do restore the old International Harvester truck. My dad's first cousin was the International truck dealer that covered southeast Iowa for many years. Almost everyone in our family and in our neighborhood drove several International pickups and trucks. The last pickup my dad had was a 1973 heavy duty half ton that was fire engine red. I was so proud of that when he brought it home. Yes, do leave the original patina if you can. I prefer original patina, unless the paint is really bad.

Pete, another great video as always. Definitely restore the old truck and get Henry involved! A young friend of mine asked if I could help him restore a 50's Ford Crestline that was in a garage for 30 years. I jumped at the opportunity to pass down the skills. We had a great time! Working on old flathead fords brought back a lot of memories!! They are so easy to work on!! We had it started in one weekend and street legal in two months. Big difference from the vintage jet fighters that I restore now as a hobby. Nice seeing you and Hillary collaborating. You should do that maybe once or twice a week as the ending.

It seems to be fairly effective for keeping deer out of our electric fence when we tie orange flag tape along the fence… usually one piece about every 30-40 feet. I suppose the deer can see the tape blowing in the wind and somewhat stay away. It’s a little unsightly, but fairly effective.

Hey Pete. Just finished watching your video on the future of farming this morning and I have a new possibility to offer. I'm hoping that people in general (because my Dutch government already is showing signs that it does), will come around to the idea that large farms may have significantly damaged nature and the environment but that small traditionally run farms will significantly help restoring that same environment. As a former feed hauler I know for a fact that the Dutch government has helped small farms in our most populated areas to stay in business for many years. And since a couple years farmers that save birds that are nesting on the ground and have grass fields that include wild herbs and plants are being compensated with money.
A small diverse farm (a "mixed farm" as we call them here (animals AND crops)) of a smaller size (a 100 HP farm as we say (where the biggest tractor they operate is below 100 horsepower)) has a very elegant equilibrium with nature, as you well know.
Governments simply can't afford to "repair" mother nature, but small farms that make a profit can. As the whole of agriculture in Europe is already very heavily regulated, which started the up-scaling in the first place, it's just a matter of changing the regulations.

Good morning! Would love to have your weather. We just had around 22 tornadoes.....our house had no issues however, our youngest son, 28 yoa, place of employment was pretty much destroyed. Almost all of his tools were lost, or destroyed. The company is taking care of their employees. I'm thankful no one was in the building when the tornado hit. Expecting more rain, and severe weather tonight. The weather people advice we have a low chance of tornadoes tonight.

Pete, absolutely do the truck, and I agree, leave the patina, but I would also say, make a rat rod out of it. Ya know, like the Munsters rat rod.....lol, very cool.

I told mum that cheese joke and she groaned pretty hard. If I had been closer I might have gotten a whack on the shoulder! So, great success! :D

That truck would be an AWESOME "Ambassador" for the farm! It will stand out in a crowd of cars, so everyone will look at it. And I agree with clean the patina and then clear-coat it to lock it in. Stake-sided flat bed would look pretty sweet too!

Love the reference to Vise Grip Garage and the "bleepity bloop" in the comments. As a Connecticut guy who spent every possible moment at my grandfather's farm in upstate Vermont I appreciate your approach to farming. Thanks for the info and looking forward to watching the progress in the International.

We sit and watch our chickens. We call it watching chicken TV. If we want to change the channel, we turn our chairs or change the location we sit to one of the many swings we have around our farm. Then we watch goat tv or pig tv or duck tv or sheep tv. We got 2 new channels this year: steer tv and turkey tv. 😆 Sometimes we watch sunset tv. Makes a nice peaceful end to a busy day.

Like how you make farming look like fun especially when the animals acknowledge you as you speak to them

In a gone era if we didn't need fuel, or other services we would hear the noon whistle we would park the tractor at the end of the field, and walk home to eat. At the 6 o'clock whistle we would walk home to milk, and eat. It was a good time.
Frequently you remind me of those days. Thanks Pete.

Heck yes, that old International is just calling to be used again. With a stakebed. And definitely keep the patina.
    I didn't hear if it is the 220/6 L?
    Outstanding motor.... for the time.
My Dad changed two cyc. sleeves and pistons (used out of another truck), in the snow outside next to the barn.
