Hey, never pass up a used sink! I found one leaning up against a power pole at the end of my road when the house on the corner remodeled. Turns out it was a rather expensive Kohler sink! It’s proudly installed in my kitchen now. I love, love, love trash to treasure! ❤ Great job Jason!
Somehow I ended up with one extra, big, square laundry sink when we were renovating our home, so I put it on the carport with hot and cold running water. We use it all of the time. With Aloha...
I let it sit for a little bit too. I was surprised when I saw what he was using. I don't hear a lot of people talk about Barkeeper's Friend. We have hard water, so it's the only thing I use.
When I bought my suburban home in the 80’s there was no sink in the garage. A guy ay my church had an old one with a metal cabinet surround.😅 I installed it and used it 25 plus years and then replaced it with a big box store fiberglass sink. There is nothing more handy. We wash hands muddy shoes and bathe the dog in ours. A great project for a novice diy person
My son found an old double bowl cast-iron sink with drain board. He had it installed in his basement along with a toilet. He now has a way to wash up after working outside or using the toilet or working on his family vehicle 😅work van.
Oh Jason how I love when you upload a new video. You’re always so creative and innovative. I’m struggling through terminal cancer and your videos always make my day a little bit brighter! I love watching all of your projects.
I knew there was something special about you Jason that a woman could love, and it's simply this... a man who can scrub is a beautiful thing. 😅👍 God's blessings to you all, from Italy.
Jason. This was one of the most enjoyable blogs I've seen from you all in a long time. No worries, no concerns. Just sweetly interesting. Thank you so much. Hope your family is well and dried out! Praying for you all.🙏☺️
I have a sink in the woods story also. It looks almost exactly like that sink. We bought 10 acreas 12 yrs ago . We owned the land 9 yrs before we started to build. All those years I'd walk the property and I knew that old sink was there outside full of leaves. One day I told me husband get the tractor we r drgging this out of the woods. It was in pretty bad shape and we bought a enamel kit. I used the kit. It looked pretty nice so now it's my bathroom sick with w live edge cedar slab counter we milled up on our mill. It was cheap and it's unique. I love her. 😅
Jason, your intro's are the best..."it's amazing what you can find in the forest...a cast iron sink". My grandparents farm had an abandoned school bus in the woods!
I'll admit that I was one woman that said, keep scrubbing it'll come clean. ❤❤ and now we I can say , see I told ya . Lol the sink looks beautiful!! My Grandma had one in her bathroom. Thank you for that memory. ❤❤👩🦳
Bar Keepers Friend, thatan oldie but a goodie. My secret with it is to dampen ut enough to make a paste, let it set 5 to 10 minutes, then scrub and rinse. Works really well. Love that sink!
That sink is such a good find and you repurposed it briliantly. As son as i sow that cast-iron sink , I thought Barkeeper 's friend and there you are .😊 It is great for kitchen too , stainless still pots and pans , the trick is to let it sit/work on it , for min or two and than rub .
Awesome job with the sink. I could own stock in the “ Bar keeper friend”Company. I had a huge porcelain double sink with porcelain sides years ago . And lots of iron in my water. What a chore. Bath tubs, toilets. I used “ the works” on the toilet and BF on every else. Good job with up cycling the sink Jason !
Jason that is so old school and wonderful to see youngins applying it today. I'm 71 yo and what you did with that sink is just one of msnyy things we did on the farm. 👍😊
Great idea and use of discarded sink that’s still good for something! I would suggest moving the end of the drain hose away from the foundation though. 👍😉
4 generation's of cast iron sink owners, & proud of it. My ex wanted stainless for 1/16th the cost, but l said absolutely not! So l have my beautiful sink & no more ex! Lol. ✨️💖✝️📿😇💙❤️✨️💕
In the woods below my house I found a sink just like yours, plus a cast iron double basin kitchen sink with attached drainboard and a public trough sink from (my guess is) somewhere between the 1930's-50's. The trough sink is going into my greenhouse and the double basin sink is going into my kitchen. I think I'm gonna put the third one in my hubby's workshop.
Great job on that sink. As to your plumbing job being "simply some connectors and hoses"? Some of us are not very familiar with plumbing and those kinds of details grab our attention. Makes you look like a genius in my eyes. You're very innovative. 👍🙏🇨🇦❤️😊
Can’t express how much I love this video! You’re hilarious Jason and I so relate to your sense of humor! Push stick? Never seen anyone on a homestead use one😅 So many other things I could comment on and relate to! Maybe it’s because I’m a fellow Californian married to a Mexican American man… i just love everything that you and your family share!!❤
Sink looks great. For stubborn stains use bath scubbing bubble in spray can with a pumis stone bar. It's safe on any surface. It's gritty like the mechanic orange hand cleaner. Been married for 52 years and still use it. Even use it on my husband chrome semi truck wheels. Just rise with water. Men are picky on their costly chome. If women can claim it by cleaning bathrooms 'no man has to complaine' lol. Used it on the road to clean his tires in Houston tx polish men said no way. Showed them what a $5.00 can could do better without watered down polish costing $200.00 for their service. Nice to check it off your list. Blessings ilan/cora. We deliver weekly to Morganton nc exit 100 I-40 east. Sorry about your state
That old cast iron sink is perfect for an outdoor sink! That is a treasure Jason. Nice, French cleat! I love seeing how you put this together. You are very handy Jason! I like how you try to use what you have on hand for your projects. Frugal but well done! That works really well! Wonderful, no leaks!
Love It! I love having a sink on my gardening patio similar to this. Those huge cast iron sinks rock. I would rather have those than the new fangled stuff! That would also be beautiful planted with flowers or cucumbers trailing down! So many things you could do with old sinks! My mind is just a buzzing with ideas about old sinks! Thanks Jason!😀
I do not remember the name. There is a product that will clean it up and take the rust of the bottom. Then enamble it and it'll last a lot longer. You got this Jason. I love the sink. Great job. Appreciate your talents. Thank you for your vlog of N.C. PRAYING. SE MICHIGAN 🙏 🙏🇺🇸🇮🇱🙏
@@miephoex The product he was using was Barkeeper's Friend. If you have hard water or want to remove a rust stain, it's the best thing to use. I use it all the time.
Jason, what are the dangers of freezing during winter. Poly-pipe? faucet? I am further east than you in NC and I know my faucets drain to prevent freezing. Had a whole house water filtration system years ago, big outside unit. Everything was fine except where the water left the system and entered my home. A small METAL connection and it froze every year. I stood outside with a hairdryer until I got it thawed. I was kinda glad when the unit finally quit working, went to undersink in the kitchen and let a scrapman take it away. It was stainless steel, beautiful metal but of no use to me then.
Consider making a outhouse to save water during power outages. It could look like a tool shed but function as a outhouse. It takes a lot of water to flush and if "it" doesn't go down, it takes a lot more water. The propane water heater is one of our shower backups. Two is one and one is none.
Great use of a cool sink! I have a similar set-up using an old stainless steel restaurant sink. It has a sprayer and is fed via a garden hose. I like that it has a few feet of attached counter space and shelves below. It's used for washing veggies and tools, watering seedlings, and washing hands. Dirty water drains into a bucket and then waters the garden. The only drawback is that the metal surface sometimes gets hot in the sun.
My favorite project on my farm! Used stainless steel restaurant bought on Offer Up! Drains to a 25’ hose that reaches 8 fruit trees! I’m in So Cal so you know every drop counts!! We wash veggies at it too!
As always creative and innovative work good work Jason. Can hardly wait to see that kitchen island nudge nudge wink wink
You and me both!

You could also dig a small hole and fill with rocks for drainage. Maybe a bit of a french drain leading away from the barn.
Look at that big smile at the end. Add some big flat blocks to stand on to,stay outta the mud!
Great job refurbishing the old sink. And the chicken supervisor is priceless 😂😂
Good use of an old sink, Jason.
That will be so useful.
Somehow I ended up with one extra, big, square laundry sink when we were renovating our home, so I put it on the carport with hot and cold running water. We use it all of the time. With Aloha...

I love this. Repurposing is the best especially on a farm! Plus who doesn’t love an antique enamel wash basin? Well done
Yes! Thank you!

Jason, I use pool noodles, those foam floating things, to cover my pipes and hoses from freezing.
me too! 👍

Us too in S/W Michigan 👍
So do we in S/W Michigan 👍
Great idea!
You will love this sink ,especially with the chicken workshops.. good job using what you have to make something " new."
Oh good, you scrubbed the green algae off…you did not disappoint 😃👍🏻

I live in Florida and always wanted an outdoor shower so I made one..simple
I loved the way you took that old sink and repurposed it. You could be a plumber Jason. I like how you show each step.
Love that style of old sinks.
My dad put a sink just like that in their backyard. My mom thought it wasn't very good. We use it all the time, even she does now.
You’re so smart and ingenious you should put all your inventions in a book
You throw in a magic eraser with the barkeepers friend now that’s a powerhouse!
I love your family and I love your videos!
always good to see you moving forward.....

Need something like this for the greenhouse.
I love it Jason!! Great find and perfect for farm work cleanup!!
Add a hook to the wall for a hand towel! Nice project.
Wow! Awesome forest find!
A hook for a towel to dry hands and maybe some timber or gravel to stand on when it's wet. Love the sink.
