Sir Alex Ferguson on where David Beckham went wrong

Sir Alex Ferguson has said David Beckham thought he was too big for Manchester United as he launched his autobiography. The former Manchester United manager also claimed Becks changed after he met Victoria and had made the wrong move by leaving Real Madrid for LA Galaxy. In My Autobiography, Fergie chronicles the 27 years he spent in charge of one of the world's biggest football clubs, including his strained relationships with Wayne Rooney and Roy Keane. The Scotsman also revealed how he was twice offered the job of England manager, but dismissed it almost immediately. Report by Jeremy Barnes.

Beckham had great ability but falling for Victoria gave him access to management that is not common among footballers and certainly wasn’t at that time. He was ahead of his time, and in many ways created the blueprint on how to become and monetise a brand. This didn’t age well. He’s a Chairman of a football club that has signed Lionel Messi.

sir alex certainly has a right to say what he wants but Beckham also has the right to live his life the way he wants to and if that is to be happy with the woman he loves and marry her and have a life with her then he should, sure maybe if he didn't he could have been even greater of a player but Beckham chose a different life and if he's happy with that life then it isn't anyone else's business - success can be measured in life in different ways, beckham is a happily married man, a good husband and father of 4 great kids, if that's the life he decided was more important to him then he's achieved his goal and success - he shouldn't live life for anyone else except for himself

Where did David Beckham go wrong? Oh yes hang on a minute, Victoria Beckhams PR people got a hold of him and turned him into the biggest single player brand in footballing history. In 2013 alone, he earned $50 Million. He was a talented footballer, World class? I don't know, but his "brand" will go down in history. He was likely forced to go to L.A by Victoria "or else" following the Rebecca Loos incident in Madrid, but things kinda worked out well for David and his family.

Have heard some things about Fergie, from pulling out man u players out on loan at a club after his son was sacked as manager, to hiring his relatives as staff, this dude is questionable.

Wth are you talking about ? Manchester United is a giant in football. All the big names played there at a moment or another. Cantona, Van Nistelroy, Rooney, Van Persie, Ronaldo, Beckham, The only wrong move they did was taking Moyes after the boss retired.
Yeah they are one of the biggest teams in football but what i am saying is Beckham is bigger then the club and is the only player to come out of Man U who could say he is, and i can imagine Fergie knew this and realise he wasn't gonna be able to keep him. David beckham only won 1 trophy at real madrid, la liga in 2007. Sir alex had built a fine new team at united by then including rooney and ronaldo and they won the champions league in 2008.

They struggled for years to replace him but they rebuilt the team.
