- Better version: • Dirty Tricks - Back Of...
The debut album from British hard rockers DIRTY TRICKS is long overdue a CD release not least of all because their sound perfectly bridges pure 70s hard rock and the NWOBHM sound that was to follow. Kenny Stewarts distinctive vocals and the wonderful guitar playing of John Fraser-Binnie helped set this band apart from their contemporaries. Originally released by Polydor records in 1975, Dirty Tricks is classic British rock with a hard blues-based edge. It is no surprise at all that, in later years, this excellent band has found cult status around the worldlisten and believe!
You could spend your entire existence on the Tubes discovering all these amazing bands and artists that most people have either forgotten, or just never heard, and you would still not come close to hearing them all.
Это точно..)
I'm trying
Well said, I know that I have over 10,000 on TH-cam.
Hard to believe this was not on national airplay. The middle 70's was full of great rock bands, This has that KICKASS hardedge.
This band are now, or were until recently, surviving as a led zep tribute band called 'STAIRWAY TO ZEPPELIN' - all the original members! - i spoke to them at a gig and expressed my grief at this fact and they all kinda shrugged in resignation. Another great band from the 70's that never broke through. saw them at the marquee many times and they rocked like fuck
So sad
i wish this music was still around ....music has sucked for the past 30 years
As heavy and hard or heavier and harder than many other rock bands from the mid 70" s
A killer track. Any hard rock fan would agree.
Can't believe I just stumbled on this gem of a song! It's heavier and better than most bands out there today!
The 70s were amazing, Dirty Tricks have a very unique style and so they are one of my favorite bands of rock and roll.
i love this sound...do you know of any other bands like this that i can check out
Such an underrated band! They had that rough hard rock sound that exemplified 1975. Love em!👍
I love this song I wish I knew about it as a kid. My 1st album was Deep Purple Machine Head. I would of blew my friends minds with this. I'm 59 and just found this like a year ago. Love the guitar and drummer. Drummer is killer.
I am quite glad to have found this absolute masterpiece, because I’ve uncovered a massively underappreciated band that has a great collection of songs
The intro riff gives off a strong Spirit Caravan kinda vibe... Awesome!
Dirty Tricks LP, Night Man LP and Hit And Run LP are on Rhapsody for anyone interested. I had these in the mid to late '70's, Great band.
Never heard of this band but loving the bass and lead playing.
Sounds like Mountain. Kool.
Some what but i like Leslies vocals more.
I love the singers voice, it's very soulful
reminds me of spooky tooth
Always did! Except when I was approaching my woman or my friends. Yes, in my leather adorned with about 15 punk band pins. On my way to a Stepson show, I brought the whip. Well in ‘77 anyway.
Love that second guitar in the intro; that emphasis on the minor scale. Reminds me of A National Acrobat from Sabbath. Same year, I think too..
70's obscure bands: SALEM MASS...BULBOUS CREATION... MEDUSA...ASTHAROTH..BUFFALO...TOAD...IRON CLAW...WICKED LADY...SIR LORD BALTIMORE...ICECROSS...HIGHWAY ROBBERY...
That intro is filthy evil
if you knew about these guys back then, you were hip (classier than underground !!!) and now we are Heavy Metal
All I can is Wow!! I can't believe these guys did make it to the states..........
Glad I found this , good band saw them support Argent in 1975 or 76
This playlist has become a staple for me when out on my food truck. It has introduced me to a fuckton of bands I never would have heard of. Thank you, and I pray this playlist never goes away.
Matt Tietge look on my profile I've got tons of lesser known bands.
ME
AMEBR
hardest track from my youth to find ,2 devors and 2kids take a toll on the vinel
Very nice - there's a lot of 70's music here now, but this is up there with the best of them.
This is good hard-rock!!!!
Singer Kenny Stewart got 2 solo albums out...2010's 'The Brains Behind The Scam' and
2012's 'Skullthuggery'....got 'em at CDBaby...also found 'em at all the usual download sites...still rockin' like fuck !!
If it weren't for radio stations like WBCN Boston and a handful of
college stations, we would never have heard any progressive rock at all
back in the day. Long gone but not forgotten ! A.M. radio went the way
of the dinosaurs and F.M. is soon to follow . Sad
Totally wicked! That rhythm guitar got in my head man!
Serious Paul Chain and Pentagram vibes. Killer track, from a very obscure snd heavy band. Nice........
This is what (love) sounds like in the form of music- this song perfect for any situation- walking down the halls at school or working in the office, it’s pure energy ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️🤩
They sure don't make rock n roll like this anymore! That's why I only listen to stuff like this off youtube! Haven't listened to the radio in 5 years! Cause everything that comes out now, for the most part, is just rehashed crap.
I’ve been in bands that made recordings but the likelihood of the right person hearing it seems unlikely. No worries though. Been fun putting my words to music.
Love this!!..singer got top voice and a great set of lungs..try singing along to this...jesus!!
am hot for this kind of stuff and will pass it along...fine band...
wow this is an excellent piece of rock music
Rockin hard tune to clean my house to!
acdeucee hahaha same story right now
Almost Sabbath with dirty sound amplifier
Use to listen to this band back in high school. KISS 99.5 Rocks San Antonio
The shit kiss 99.5 plays nowadays isn’t anything along this caliber
Never heard them, but this brings it back. The way it was at App State 68. Hell no, we won’t go; remember Kent State, remember, fuck journey, L.B.J
would love to hear more off this album, great band
Love that sound!!
VERY VERY GOOD .......................
Great album. Post more of it please!
I love this one.
old school lover's will die from sweet nostalgia ;)
This is amazing!!!!
PURE ! KILLER SONG ! !
Love this! I used to listen to this when it first came out. Over and over again!
Where did the time go?
they did record with ozzy terry horbury bassist who died think it was last year.said there was a lot of material recorded. but its never came out terry said he still had the songs. my friends necromandus cumbrian heavy band with out there singer were before dirty tricks they to recorded tracks with ozzy but nothing has seen the light of day great band back of evil great song
So glad i found you with a better copy of mine, like bluerfoot said i also thought that nobody else knew of these dirty tricks...... :o)
not hear this one in years there a hard band to track down
Why can't I meet anybody that likes this kind of underground unknown music? The people I meet like ed Sheeran and dua lipa and all the rest of the commercial shit that's popular these days.
This is pretty cool! Definitely has a Sabbath vibe to it but I also hear Mountain, Cain, and a tiny bit of Blue Cheer in the mix.
Hells yes. A lot of hood stuff coming from this channel lately.
The leadsinger sounds a bit like Stevie Winwood in his early days with the Spencer Davis Group
Or Alex Ligertwood (Camel, later Santana)
That's true with Steve Winwood
Heaaaaavyyyyy
Oh mannn .. I'm glad i found this sucka. Appreciated! ..
very nice.
Pure power, very good ;-)
Great song from great band! I'm currently working on uploading the whole Night Man album, so far got the title track
I had a few of the albums here in the states in the 70's, god knows nobody else knew who they were.
I think I must get all the cd's too bad this is the only song I find on youtube.
this is heavy, gloomy rock in the way modern (meaning after 1980) never was again in my opinion.
Just don't know how i landed here, but don't want to get out.
Muito bom!
шедеврище \m/ hell yeah \m/
OMG! it's pure cosmic.
XD I love the contrast in sound from Dirty Tricks to Bongzilla
Singer sounds like a heavy Steve Winwood. Awesome.
Too Much Wine was a St. Louis classic, and is still great. Very Kossoff-ish, this'n.
singer is great
I hear an incredible thing, that expose my mind
cool groove
Flying apaches over nam feeling !
Fu*kin brilliant Hard Rock dream tune!!!!

Que puta som heimmmm...
Banda de respeito!!!!!
Like a heavier 'Free'....pretty cool
Listen to BUFFALO freedom..... Awesome too....
Attention: What I'm about to say is probably stupid but: This reminds of the riff in bongzilla's bongthrower. No offence: Both are overwhelmingly great!
You mean bongthrower reminds you of Dirty tricks.
Stoner before stoner invented
achilles katsamas Black Sabbath Masters Of Reality
Hah, I always say the same. Stoner rock is the heir of blues rock/psychedelic rock.
offff...çıldırıyorum
Fortunate to see this band. They opened with this. The original drummer left and the replacement was awful, being partial to an awful disco beat at times (witness the live tracks on second album) A shame because they were a good hard working band that happened to come along at the wrong time.
Geezer, they never opened with this...always opened with Wait Till Saturday !!
I also was one of the fortunate ones...
my mistake.
Dont forget the roadies. I know one of them
YEAH BABY
Stoner Doom at his best..... 💥
Really wonder if they had actually recorded with Ozzy where would they be now? Either way I need this now
As good as this list is (and it IS good, their are a couple of "errors." So, as good as The Jimi Hendrix Experience's "Electric Ladyland" is (and it IS good), their album "Are You Experienced?" IS psychedelia in every sense. And although the Strawberry Alarm Clock's record you chose is a good choice (as it IS a good choice), without their 1st album's hit and title song "Incense And Peppermints" there would be no other Strawberry Alarm Clock albums. Their 1st album is practically THE definition of "psychedelic!"
Hey, it's Glenn Hughes 😂
I consider this the beginning of stoner/sludge rock. Some were before yes, but go listen to bands like Sleep and Monolord. It’s Dirty Tricks with newer equipment.
Also much doomier songwriting and production.
I don't know you but you mentioned Iron Claw so you must be a pretty cool guy.
I blast iron claw windows down im looking for friens Anaheim. CA
