    I want to add CAI reached out to Artenda to do this promotion, because we believe artenda.net is one of the most valuable platforms for artists. We advise all artists of our advisory reports to have a look at Artenda ever since we provided this service. In this video, the currency is in Euro and the selected region was Europe (as we are based in Europe), but the database compiles all the best art opportunities in the world in various regions. Thank you for watching this series, chat soon! All my best, Julien

    thank you I felt uneasy about doing a long standing installation however I thought about the facts that even though it wasn't a large pay, the fact many will see it and it stays for a year in the museum is the pay off. Name being seen, vision, etc.... thank you for this series it was a breath a fresh air. Subbed your channel "

      Absolutely, great example. An institutional show with zero sales is much better in the long term than having a good payday by selling ten works online. Thank you for the sub! Have a great day. JD

    What specific advice can you give to professionally trained artists over 50, who have worked all their lives, but never tried to participate in exhibitions or sell their paintings.
    Whether they have the opportunity to start a career? What is the best way to do it? I think many will be interested in a video on this topic
    Thanks in advance.

    • @contemporaryartissue
      @contemporaryartissue  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A very good question I have received more than once. There are numerous artists and even artists who are very established today that only started to participate in the art world when they were 'slightly' older, or less young. The truth is, in the art world 50 is actually still very young. The same principles apply in the art world whether you are in your 20s and just finished art school, or if you have had a long career in a different industry. Feel free to read our article on how to succeed as an artist on our website to learn more: www.contemporaryartissue.com/how-to-succeed-as-a-painter-artist-everything-you-actually-need-to-know/

      Art is a hobby, nobody buys anything like that. People are barely buying framed prints at ikea or Walmart. There's just no demand, plus most westerners have art as a hobby too. Better stick to your current way of making $. Artists starve.

    This has been a great series. Very helpful to students and emerging artists - but applicable to all too. It’s also a stimulus for debate because you’re coming from a particular perspective and (of course) not every artist buys into the art world as defined by dealer galleries and the market - I think of socially engaged practice for example. The ‘contestability’ is itself important and valid because it provides a starting point for discussion. As the channel evolves, I wonder if it would be interesting to introduce ‘in discussion’ style pieces with representatives of the profession who take differing or alternative approaches?
    On another note, it would be great to have some videos on advice for buyers - breaking down some of the mystique, looking at how lovers of art can begin to buy without it necessarily breaking the bank etc!

    • @contemporaryartissue
      @contemporaryartissue  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Chris, thank you very much for following this video series. Once again, two great suggestions. I have taken note once more! We aim to dissect the art world from a kaleidoscopic perspective. This includes creating videos for art enthusiasts, artists, galleries, collectors, and more, discussing the gallery circuit, the institutions, private collectible art, public art, and so on. In short, there still is a lot off ground to cover in the coming years! Which is a good thing of course. We are currently preparing a few articles and videos for art collectors, sharing the most useful tools, and a 101 to collecting art. So stay tuned :-) Have a great day Chris, all my best from Belgium. Julien

      Apply at local art galleries, but positions are extremely rare. Art and art history degrees are pretty much useless, unless you're already rich and connected.

    Hi, thanks for these informative videos. I am curious what are your thoughts on the Art Connect platform? I think they post some great opportunities (open calls for exhibits/residencies) and also promote emerging artists to "watch out for" on their platform, but I don't think you have mentioned them at all in any videos.

      Hi there, the pleasure is all mine! Thank you for watching our videos. Great question; I believe Art Connect is very good platform. We have not mentioned them in our videos, but we do mention them in some of our articles at contemporaryartissue.com Personally, I believe Artenda is the best platform for art opportunities, but Art Connect does a great job as well. Hope this might help!

    What about other areas of the world I see this is based in Europe and the fee is in Euro's , anything for the rest of the world? I know I have the abilitiy to reach out for residency in other countries but not all artists are able to with finical support, hence the question. Thanks ~

    • @contemporaryartissue
      @contemporaryartissue  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Vikkeh Bee, Artenda provides art opportunities across the globe. The currency is in euro but you can pay from wherever you are, and you can select your region to Africa, Asia, North America, South America, Europe, or Australia while browsing for opportunities, or a specific country. Good luck!

    • @mikesamovarov4054
      @mikesamovarov4054 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where in Canada did you see ANY demand for fine arts, exactly? 😂 I'm in Ottawa and it's dead here, as well as in most areas. North Americans just don't have much culture to recognize and appreciate art. 99.9% of people simply don't care. They're barely buying ikea prints 😂 Get real, art is a wide spread hobby. No more.

    so we have to pay to promote our art. i will pass and endure years of fruitless endeavour in the godless, snake oil salesman art world.

    • @contemporaryartissue
      @contemporaryartissue  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at all. We share numerous ways to promote your art free of charge on this channel. If you refer to the €3,5 subscription we recommend, this is not to promote your art but to find great opportunities in no-time. Most of these opportunities don't require a fee to enter. But you can always look for these opportunities yourself, but it can be terribly time-consuming. It is a good platform and a great subscription when it comes to value for money according to my humble opinion. But some things simply aren't for free, as is premium oil paint for instance! Have a great day and all the best

      If YOU are paying, you're a CUSTOMER. Art industry is a complete scam, taking advantage of desperate artists who can't sell anything (because there practically zero demand for that). Art is a hobby! Art schools are a 💯 scam.

    I think all of your advices are right but totaly wrong at the same time. No one ever gets successful in the "artworld" because of such advices. All these videos implicade thats your personal fault if you are not "successful" in the artworld. My first advice would be to accept that you can't make a living with art. No one can! (1 of 1000 artists) These videos implicate that art is a normal "job" - follow the rules and you are successful - what a mistake...

    • @contemporaryartissue
      @contemporaryartissue  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, thank you for tuning in. These rules are no guarantee for success, as we mention in every article on how to succeed as an artist - but they do increase your chances. Thousands of people make a living with art. But we always advice finding a good work-life-art balance first. Get a job to pay the bills, and on the side work on your career as an artist.

    • @mikesamovarov4054
      @mikesamovarov4054 ปีที่แล้ว

      Art is a hobby. Not sure why these starving "artists" think they can sell, while they never bought an original art, and they don't know anyone who buys it. There's simply no demand, but most westerners have art as a hobby. It's NOT a real profession. Art schools graduates still have to re-train to gain practical skills required in our society, like graphic design etc. or they're stuck teaching art to kids 😂 Pathetic...
