I got no idea why ships sink when out of fuel. It's not like they use their engines to stay afloat... Subs _almost_ make sense, but then you remember they fill and empty ballast compartments within the sub to dive and rise... so, at best, lack of fuel would force the sub to rise for oxygen.
@@animarthur5297 I think large ships need to run water-pumps 24/7 to pump out what waves inevitably splash in? And this pumps need power. I think on a lot of ships half the engines run exclusivley to power the ships systems. Of course they would not just sink, they would take probably weeks or really bad weather for that to get them in... But I think the reason in Advance Wars is actually because you can not supply them out there. A Land Unit that runs out of fuel can eventually be visited by a APC. A boat however? That would just permanently be stuck in place.

Look at the size of a city tile. Also, life tends to be pretty resilient. Assuming a tile is like 10 km on each side (100 SQ km), that's easily enough to sustain a continuous hunter gatherer lifestyle for 500 people no problem, larger than the minimum IRL infantry unit size and half of the maximum. We left our troops out in the sticks to fend for themselves, thankfully survival training is common.

Air units and Naval units will be destroyed when they run out of fuel and ground units, including infantry will not. Yes it would be funny if the tank randomly exploded if it ran out of fuel.
@@nmr7203 logically yes, I think the real reason is mostly just because there's no way to refuel a stranded naval unit that isn't adjacent to a square an APC can reach.

"You should unalive yourself in Minecraft."
I don't think I've ever seen the low fuel icon on an infantry.
Technically infantry and mech units use "rations" to move.
I've seen it on a couple of the really big War Room maps but that's about it.
Im certain after getting hit by Drakes power a few times you'd see it
Well they also have like 99 rations and restore them after capturing a city so it has to be hit by like 3 Drake powers to even get to low rations
its funny to believe they got enough ration to last a month if they keep walking.

Yield, now!
the next turn the units will be dissapear so you can´t attack
@@chara8524 Incorrect, only air and naval units are destroyed when out of fuel, land units just can't move.

Maybe troops are too busy foraging/hunting to move or something

By unit I mean a whole battalion, 300 to 100 soldiers under one lieutenant.

To be fair, most players don't really notice that infantry CAN run out of fuel.
They cranked up the "what's an airport" meter to 11
They realized the absurdity of this boy being in charge of ANYTHING. Then they fucking leaned all the way into that absurdity. I love it.
