I take off a star when I rate a product and they've used styrofoam for packing material and note that is why they lost a star. Companies won't change unless they pay a penalty for not changing, and a hit to their product ratings is a great way to motivate them.
This stuff is an absolute plague. I hate it with a passion. Creates a huge mess for consumers, ends up in landfills and in the ocean and water supplies, lasts way too long and is costly to dispose of properly. I’m looking forward to better alternatives taking _root_ soon, like mycelium packaging (basically mushroom packaging).
Cardboard recycling can reuse it 5-7 times. Any type of packaging that can be made out of styrofoam can also be made out of cardboard. Cardboard also ha a higher recycle dollar value.
Reprocessed into trays and picture frames. Like the world needs more trays and picture frames. Can't they reuse it into something that is actually useful instead of crap that ends up right into the landfill anyway? Go to any Walmart type store and there are picture frames galore that people give as gifts that end up in the garbage.

the only solution to the problem is stop making the stuff. Use environmentally friendly alternatives.
