- How to do risk assessment?
One of the most asked questions by OH&S professionals.
No one can predict the future, therefore, outcome of a project or activity will remain uncertain all the time. So shall we accept the fact and make a compromise on the desired outcome of our project or activity. Is it the only way out to deal with the uncertainty of future. Certainly not.
It may seem the only possibility, however, we are not totally helpless here as we can predict or identify the most probable hindrances in our projects and hence propose solutions in advance to make the outcome of a project mostly in line with our desired outcome.
Risk management is done at the start of project life cycle.
Risk Management process can be divided into following important steps,
1. Context & Objectives
2. Identify Risks
3. Assess Risks
4. Risk Response
5. Communicate
Last words of caution is to perform this Risk Assessment activity in the "Planning" stage of a Project Life cycle so as to avoid surprises during the execution phase of the Project which might badly impact the overall progress of a Project. Remember that it is a continuous process which takes time and experience to mature and gain momentum
