  • We spent the day with Chad Miano and his son Frank near Gate City, Virginia, where the men were logging with their Suffolk Punch draft horses. Chad discussed how he got started with horse logging and how he has managed to be successful in the business. We show footage of the men using their horses to skid hardwoods down a fairly steep slope. #drafthorses #horselogging #suffolkpunch #suffolkhorses #ruralheritage

Terrific video - please pass on our thanks to Chad and his family...we are just at the beginning of our horse logging journey and we owe a large debt of gratitude to people like him for keeping this industry moving forward!

Sorry for the critique, but your trailer looks a little dangerous with severe rust, to be hauling that much weight with the horses etc. I once saw a trailer with the flooring bad and the horses had fallen thru going down the road. needless to say they had to be put down at the seen. I would never want to see that again. Be careful ! Thanks for your work and content,

In the video he said ," It is an OLDER TRAILER but I have put in BRAND NEW SUSPENSION SYSTEM and overhauled the flooring so that it continues to be able to haul the weights of these horses ." Mr. Mischka then followed that up with ," These are larger Horses and that's quite a bit of weight ."
So for your ' critique ' apparently they had already addressed your concerns before you posted your comment . Did you watch the whole video through before you wrote your critique ? As far as ' OLDER EQUIPMENT ' goes various Industries in the U.S., and quite possibly everywhere else in the World use the ' OLDER EQUIPMENT ' that they have ' Modified ' and maintained on their own . J.B. Hunt Trucking Company has very ' Brand New ' pieces of Equipment . The vast majority of their Trucking Fleet is purchased used equipment in Good Condition and once their Trucks get to a certain age they then ' put them ' into their Lease Purchase Program . Any of the Leases that fail after a few separate Lease attempts on those Trucks and based on their current condition at the time those Trucks get ' Traded In ' for the next set of ' Used Purchased ' Trucks for their own Fleet . So only after J. B. Hunt gets as much money made as possible out of those Trucks , even from their own Drivers , Do those Trucks then get replaced .
The guy in the video stated that he has gone to College for a Couple of Years and that he has taken Business Courses in addition , He's a Welder , and a Farrier as well not just a Logger .
Perhaps you should rewatch this video again , Me thinks you missed much of it .

Just think a group of 4wheelers ripping around one day can do more damage than you would do in there all year !!
