I had been spoiled of it before watching since I'd put off watching Bridgerton for so long, but I would have gotten suspicious when Pen and Eloise were walking through the market talking about Lady Whistledown, then felt a ton more confident after Pen said her line about the next season being more exciting. I was trying to explain to my mom, Pen is the perfect character for it as far as writing mechanics go. Penelope is in the show enough for the viewer to know about her, constantly see her, build an attachment to her, but not enough to flesh out her character so much that the viewer's entire perception of her is shattered. You don't want a reaction like "Who the hell is this character?" But you also don't want the twist to change the character's entire narrative.
But I noticed that Benji has teared up too.. At the in of the 7th episode I think? When everyone thought Marina died and Daphne was crying when her period came ? I might be wrong.. But I remembered thinking the other way around.. that Benji's the sensitive one.. So I was surprised to see Rizzo teared up here.. pleasantly surprise.. just love these guys :)
They had to reveal Lady Whistledown. The books have been out for a long time now, so if they hadn’t reverted her someone would have spoiled it since the information is easily available. The only way how they could not have revealed her was if they changed who Lady Whistledown is, but I don’t think that would have sat well with the fans of the books.
It also makes people want to go back and rewatch the season to see just how many obvious hints they missed and how she was present for every bit of news Whistledown revealed.
Yeah and now that the audience knows when the characters are all still ignorant, I agree that it'll create a nice secondary plot to showcase Penelope's development as a person
The actress for Lady Danbury was COMPLETE PERFECTION...but Lady Danbury gets even SCARIER in the later books. The entire upper class lives in terror of her, except for the few young women she doesn't view as simpering ninnies. I can not WAIT for her to DIVA it up all over the ton ballrooms.
I read the books this show is based off of and I have a few things I think I should say. The first book was only about Simon and Daphne and all events in the show unrelated to them are show original moments. HOWEVER! Its actually establishing the character arcs the characters will go through when its there turn to meet a spouse. Penelope was also Lady Whistledown in the books, but she wasn't revealed until book 4 ( which will be season 4 if they keep this each book is one season pattern) I think the reason that they revealed her so early on was because they know the show will get people more interested in the books, people will read the books, and have the show spoiled for them in a way. Also Marina was a Bridgerton Cousin in the books not a Featherington Cousin. I'm not gonna talk about what happens to Marina, Philip , and the 'baby' *cough* twins *cough* twins, because it is a huge spoiled for book 5, however this isn't the last we're gonna see of them. Also its not a secret, but it wasn't revealed in book 1 so no one talked about it in season 1, but the bees are related to the family. The father died when he was stung by a bee and the bees very deeply affect how Anthony behaves / his motivations. The racial diversity wasn't in the books (in fact every character that was described as having blue eyes in the books has been changed like Simon, Lady Danberry, and Marina), but I think we can all agree that its a welcome and refreshing change!
Honestly the Marina, George and Philip thing surprised me. I thought the twins were Philip's biological kids. The fact that they may be George's kids explain his hesitant parenting style.

However, it does add another layer to his relatioship with his children, as well as the Featherington's and Bridgerton's relationship with Marina (I believe they didn't know her that well in the books).
I love how Rizzo was so hesitant to even watch this show at the beginning and by the end was the most emotionally affected of the two. Both of you are amazing! Also in Penelope's defense, she tried every which way to prevent Marina and Collin's relationship/marriage and gave Marina so many chances to end it before resorting to outing her in the newsletter. Penelope really cared about Marina, she even promised to protect her secret in one of the earlier episodes. But in the end, she ran out of options.
Yep! Girl really was in a no win situation. It was either betray Marina’s trust, or betray Colin and his family’s (who treat her better than her own) by keeping quiet. She could’ve easily told Colin about the baby, but she instead tried to be discreet and just told him about George. No one listened, which is basically the whole point of why she’s Whistledown…because people listen. Also, she’s supposed to be like 17 here. Who hasn’t made impulsive decisions at that age?

I read the books as they came out, binged the show when it came out and then stumbled upon your channel last week and binged your Bridgerton videos up to 7. It's been so much fun sharing the experience with you guys. I'm hoping they continue at least through season 5, Eloise is my favorite (her story is book 5). I'm staying subscribed!

I don't think they'll do a book a season. Season 1 has so much set up of their world and the beginnings of the other story arcs. They can easily do 2 books a season while setting up the next arcs.
