As a clone trooper fan, this is so frustrating. The upper limbs from the Caption Rex figure is near perfection. The double-jointed elbows don't pinged the armors & allow great range of motion but they've only re-used it twice: once for Commander Bly & another here, with Hawk. All the other clones (Gree, Fox, Wolf, etc) have very limited range. Even their commander Obi-Wan figure was stiff as hell. The lower limbs from the newer clones are much better as the swivel knee allows for sitting or kneeling position, although they could've have tweaked the knee armor to be placed at the bottom half of the joint instead of up, making them appear less awkward. I commend Hasbro for the addition of butterfly joints & lower dumbbell joints in these newer clones but it baffles me how they're always pulling themselves back. You don't see similar problems with their GI Joe's line though.
"We don't talk about Revenge of the Sith Obi-Wan." Someone tell Hasbro that; apparently they're gearing up to rerelase him as an Archive even though that entire figure is an absolute stinker.
Yeah they’re also supposed to archive a 501st trooper, darth revan and leia. I plan on getting all except leia but with how my local stores are, they’ll only have leia

I missed out on pre-orders for these here in Australia and it upsets me. I wasn't really into Clone Wars when these were announced, so I didn't really think about it. Now that The Bad Batch has gotten me into the whole web of connected animated Star Wars stuff... I really want Anakin and Obi-Wan with these designs. Hawk I could take or leave and Echo I'll wait for the Bad Batch version, but The Clone Wars is the most I've liked Anakin and Obi-Wan! And they'd look so good with all my clone troopers!
All I want is Echo 🥺 I’ve added it to my wish list and I’m checking it every day in case of restocks. Crazy, for an item that hasn’t even released here yet.

Glad to know you got the full set with relatively no hassle, Robo! It's been an arduous journey for so many of us. I want you to know that your reviews more than anything (including the actual TV shows) have gotten me the closest to breaking my "Original Trilogy only" rule with Star Wars 6". I broke down and actually got both Obi-Wan and Anakin from this wave and I'm trying my absolute hardest not to go any further. I just don't have anywhere to put 'em!
I grew up with the prequels so I love everything clone wars but I’m hoping they re release more characters from the original trilogy and also some legends and Kotor characters
There’s no citation but you would think they wore the armor because of protection. Since Obi Wan and Anakin were always on the front lines they decided to outfit themselves with clone armor. Why else would someone wear armor? 🤷🏾♂️ It’s not practical since it doesn’t protect any of their vitals. It just looks cool I guess lol.
The only thing that confuses me about this wave is why we got two 501st troops? If they were giving us Anakin and Obi wan, they should have done Echo and a 212th troop to even it out. Maybe Waxer or Boil? Besides that, I do like these figures. I'm excited to see if they're going to reuse the parts made for Echo on more arc troopers we need like Fives or Fordo from Legends.
Just got my preorder in for the Rex rerelease, and now I pretty much HAVE to find Echo! Alas, all I can find on pegs is Anakin. As always, great, chuckle-worthy review, Robo.
So happy you scored the set. I "gave up" a while back....went to eBay (for just Obi-Wan and Anakin). Prices were competitive and had free shipping. It beats me being obsessed and getting to my local targets (four in Northern NJ) and "hoping" they weren't all sold out (or purchased, "1 per customer" - by this pirate family in the area who goes in (as a group of five) and each buy a set (Black Series, Marvel Legends OR Funko Pops). DRAT! So happy to FINALLY have a hybrid of "animated" (in Clone Wars armor) and the "real" actors. Great review - your content is always so enjoyable.
Unfortunately, from everything I've seen, that crooked-to-the-right snoutpiece on Hawk's helmet seems a pretty consistent error on a lot of samples of him. Wasn't just your luck.
I took a trip to an out-of-the-way Target yesterday, found Hawk and Anakin there, grabbed Anakin. Love the design of the costume, though mine had loose ankles which I needed to tighten up.
@@TheFwoosh Yeah, I just put a little superglue in the joints and moved them around a bunch so as to not have them glued in-place. Some mold degradation, I assume, as those legs date back to the first Anakin in the line. As you said, we all shouldn't have to do this kinda stuff, but I'm well used to tinkering with my stuff to get things just so.
Hey looking at those new legs for Obi Wan, I think the upper thigh ps may be from the another new figure they are developing for Echo. Echo’s “droid costume” in the Pantora episode looks a lot like that. BTW I think they are really promoting Echo as a character and that’s why they chose him for this line, they actually have him unhelmeted on the D+ home screen banner for Bad Batch today.
I absolutely love these figures! I think on future arc troopers they should definitely add a second trigger finger hand since they are experimenting with different body parts anyway.
Robo, so happy to see more folks are getting these:) I got mine over the course of a couple weeks. My store had them in back and inforced the one each rule. Again the please and thank you goes along way. The Obi-wan resonates a little more with me since I.had.him.in.my.hand.at.a. Walgreens and picked a Marvel Legend over him🤦♂️. He is now $80 or more loose. So I can let it go🎵😁. You had a tutorial going on there 🧙♂️in the figure QC on-going segment .Robo showing what he do know;)
I saw one of these from afar at Target the other day, but it was the last one in the store at the time & in someone else’s hands as they’re thinking if they wanted the figure or a board game doing the classic weighing their options back & forth. They went with the figure, me in the background trying not to be a creep being oh yes this book I’m TOTALLY reading looks soo interesting.
I got all but Hawk. I swapped Anakin's head for the ROTS head. Printed up a new dumbell joint and it just looks so fantastic. Definitely some of my favorite figures now.
Target exclusives at least with these were increased in number. I got Hawk and Anakin from Target but others from eBay. I was in West Texas when they dropped. So the extra $40 was money well spent. I like these quite a bit. I was buying 4” back then. My son and I enjoyed the vehicles and staging our own Clone Wars. So now I have an Anakin I like as character. Obi Wan has been cool throughout.
Yeah, most people I know have been able to get their sets, even if it meant stalking the app every morning. So that's a little better than what we've seen with the Joes.
I think the reason we are getting this Echo first is due to them having to figure out that helmet. But otherwise these are some damn nice figures and it’s very nostalgic for me as the first Star Wars figure I got was the first captain rex made in that style of packaging

Luckily, my Target kept these in the back and limited them to 1 per figure per customer. Just like you, I was able to get Anakin, Obi, and Echo in store, but they never got any Hawks. I happened to be awake for that 2am Yakface tweet and caught Hawk online. You know Target has distribution problems with exclusives when you actually get the figures you want, but any feelings of excitement to get them are vastly overshadowed by just being relieved that you found them.
I wonder what’s keeping the Star Wars team from using the pinless tech. Could’ve enhanced Obi-Wan’s legs big time. I think they should do the clone elbows double jointed and the elbow pad a flying piece. Overall love these. They’re the first nostalgic packaging for me since I’m a younger dude.
I was lucky enough to get Anakin ordered online, but no luck with Obi-Wan. Even considering buying for 2x price on ebay just to finally get him. Every Target in my entire city sold out of the entire line day 1.

I had to have these, so I bought them on eBay for way too much. The two Target stores in my city have really, really bad figure choices and I've never been able to find anything there, let alone exclusives. (I am still pissed I had to overpay for my blacklight Spider-Man Funko Pop.) I'm glad I found this review because I like what I saw of Anakin and Obi-Wan. I'm limiting my collection due to space issues, so I'm mostly going for Mandalorians and Jedi (might do a couple of Sith). The Clone Wars Anakin is by far my favorite version, so I'm getting him. I have an AotC Obi-Wan, but because I got Clone Wars Anakin, I couldn't resist getting Clone Wars Obi-Wan because I do like that armored Jedi look.
man i hate that all the cool clone wars figures seem to end up as exclusives that i never find. the only reason i was able to get season 7 ashoka was because i had to pay $45 for her on ebay. it sucks so much because all of these (besides hawk..) look great.
Add a touch of silver or gold to the buckles on Anikans ROBO arm and it just pops better, hope you try the open hand swap from the Shang Chi Deathdealers extra hands for force wielding for your play day, if this wave had Ventress instead of Hawk, it would have been the greatest Black series wave ever imo
I use a heat gun, but I never hit it for too long and keep it moving. Heat some, check, heat some more, check. Honestly, heating some water in the microwave for a bit is the way to go, it heats more evenly and gets down into the joints better. But when I'm shooting I'm impatient and don't want to wait for it to dry or get water all over the place.
Oh my gosh- after seeing the leg problem on Hawk I realized that my Black Series Commander Bly has the same problem! I thought the legs had just been warped!
I knew when I saw the Anakin Skywalker head from this 60 in quarter inch I can actually use the head for the customatic Anakin Skywalker Junior if he had another son because I know in the mainstream one he only has one son and he has a daughter too but an alternate version of Anakin Skywalker would have a another son
These are popping up in the app in SoCal, so far I’ve been able to get All exclusives through the app. Except Smchobra Island . I usually unglue the Elbow and knee pads so it can drop down when posing the clone troops
Great review I definitely want to get the Anakin. Which it’ll probably end up I get my brothers opened one since he’ll have all 4 sealed and he knows I want that one.
We need a re-release of Echo along with Arc Trooper Fives. It's a crime they haven't done him in the 6 inch scale yet. It suck when high-demand characters are made into exclusives (think Fox, along with the initial releases of Boba and Rex). Also, while they're at it, we need a new Cody with a removable helmet as well!
I never did find a commander Obi-Wan, with Hawk and this one I might have to bash one together. I really think I prefer the hawk/Rex arm and torso engineer to the new clon.

I've only been lucky enough to get an Anakin. At first glance I saw Michael Cera in his scan. Now I can't unsee it...

I've heard of some with weak knees and various other joints, seems to be case by case. But they all seem to have something that is at least fixable.

Finding these helped alleviate the sting of missing Major Bludd.

The quality control on these figures is awful, specifically echo for me.
My aniken had gummy arm joints..there was alot of extra plastic
My echo has a fucked up arch on his helmet doesn’t even meet the top of helmet it’s honestly disappointing
Its hasbro in general tbh. Marvel legends and black series have had horrible QC lately

The two Target stores in my city have really, really bad figure choices and I've never been able to find anything there, let alone exclusives. (I am still pissed I had to overpay for my blacklight Spider-Man Funko Pop.) I'm glad I found this review because I like what I saw of Anakin and Obi-Wan. I'm limiting my collection due to space issues, so I'm mostly going for Mandalorians and Jedi (might do a couple of Sith). The Clone Wars Anakin is by far my favorite version, so I'm getting him. I have an AotC Obi-Wan, but because I got Clone Wars Anakin, I couldn't resist getting Clone Wars Obi-Wan because I do like that armored Jedi look.

Hey The Fwoosh yesterday I got Star Wars the Clone Wars Black Series 6 inch Clone Pilot Hawk from the Gardena Target.
man i hate that all the cool clone wars figures seem to end up as exclusives that i never find. the only reason i was able to get season 7 ashoka was because i had to pay $45 for her on ebay. it sucks so much because all of these (besides hawk..) look great.
I remember back when the original clone wars figures were on the shelf all I ever found were mace windus
i just take an exacto knife and create a trigger finger on the left hand for the ones with dual dc-17 pistols

Add a touch of silver or gold to the buckles on Anikans ROBO arm and it just pops better, hope you try the open hand swap from the Shang Chi Deathdealers extra hands for force wielding for your play day, if this wave had Ventress instead of Hawk, it would have been the greatest Black series wave ever imo

Best combo would be new neck, Rex/bly arms and shoulders, old lower torso, new upper torso, (or just all old torso) new legs with modified knee pads
When heating Hawk up, did you use a heat gun or just hot water? Heat gun always scares me for fear of warping/melting
I use a heat gun, but I never hit it for too long and keep it moving. Heat some, check, heat some more, check. Honestly, heating some water in the microwave for a bit is the way to go, it heats more evenly and gets down into the joints better. But when I'm shooting I'm impatient and don't want to wait for it to dry or get water all over the place.

Oh my gosh- after seeing the leg problem on Hawk I realized that my Black Series Commander Bly has the same problem! I thought the legs had just been warped!

Yeah, way better in hand, I ended up liking it more that I thought I would.
I knew when I saw the Anakin Skywalker head from this 60 in quarter inch I can actually use the head for the customatic Anakin Skywalker Junior if he had another son because I know in the mainstream one he only has one son and he has a daughter too but an alternate version of Anakin Skywalker would have a another son

These are popping up in the app in SoCal, so far I’ve been able to get All exclusives through the app. Except Smchobra Island . I usually unglue the Elbow and knee pads so it can drop down when posing the clone troops
Great review I definitely want to get the Anakin. Which it’ll probably end up I get my brothers opened one since he’ll have all 4 sealed and he knows I want that one.

We need a re-release of Echo along with Arc Trooper Fives. It's a crime they haven't done him in the 6 inch scale yet. It suck when high-demand characters are made into exclusives (think Fox, along with the initial releases of Boba and Rex). Also, while they're at it, we need a new Cody with a removable helmet as well!
I never did find a commander Obi-Wan, with Hawk and this one I might have to bash one together. I really think I prefer the hawk/Rex arm and torso engineer to the new clon.
