  • Got some time while waiting for parts to arrive I decided to service the Warn M11 Freewheeling Hubs. I have never owned nor serviced hubs before and having no manual it was a matter of giving it a go.
Note: My videos are not a tutorial/how to. I am not a qualified mechanic so please refer to your workshop manual with your work. Do not use the content on my channel as a replacement for a workshop manual or mechanic.

Just bought a S2A with these Warn hubs. They are working perfectly, but serving them will be in my future.
    Thanks for this.👌

Ike at Pangolin 4x4 in Oregon USA has the rubber Oring kit to service both hubs this includes the square Oring you mention being worried about sourcing Paul

I've never bothered with free wheeling hubs, but they are a nice period accessory 👍🏼

There are those that swear by them and those that say it doesnt make a difference. For me I got them with the spare diff assembly so I thought ill give them a try ;)

Thanks for the great video. I stripped mine last year. The square form outter o ring is available from pangolin 4x4 in the states. I couldn’t find this locally, sadly. There is a paper gasket that should go between the two half’s of the hub, and also you fit one between the hub and the axle.

Thanks for the info Sask. I figured there would be gaskets between each piece too, may need to make these up or use RTV. I looked at the o-rings and saw the unique design and new it would be difficult to source if at all, so thanks for the link. Unfortunately, the other hub had water damage and the inner bearing was rusty and needles mashed. So I am now needing to find another bearing, hope this wont be too difficult!

Rover Tasmania . You are welcome. Sorry to hear about the bearing and needles. If you email a photo of what it is your looking for I will check my spare hub assembly to see if that is still present. It’s one I got with a pair. I used the same paper gaskets as Land Rover fitted to their hub assemblies only making the holes in the correct location and trimming the slightly larger gasket to fit.
      Cheers, Ian

Thanks Ian for the offer. I will see if I can source one from a bearing supplier (nothing found on the net so far). The problem was when removing the bearing case I had to break one side to get it lose (like when removing chassis bushes). I'll let you know how I go anyway via email, hopefully I can source one if not perhaps your offer may do the trick.
