Awesome! This is the first place I've found answers to why my radio has so much static. Between the way I hooked up the power and the antenna cable being coiled I have some changes to make.
just installed my cobra 19 ultra 3 with a radio shack antenna 43" whip. Bout to mount this new Wilson lil wil and see how this helps. good video. Thanks.
Use actually ring terminals at the battery end. DO NOT just twist bare wire around a bolt. You may also want to mention that one of the reason for having a center mounted antenna is the it will keep a more even 360 dispersal transmission. If you mount it in the rear your best and strongest signal will go forward and opposite if you mount the antenna on the front bumper. Other than that good basic cb info.
+Alvaro garcia I use mine on the street almost every day and haven't had any troubles with police, however I would check your local laws before using it on the street. - Bryce

MISINFORMATION: you ABSOLUTELY must tune/swr test your antenna/setups. There is NO such thing as a universal antenna...even when being installed on multiple vehicles of the exact same make and model. To many outside variables like the mount you choose, the exact location of the mount, the make up of and how you run your coax, etc...Setup 10 vehicles of the same make and model with the exact same radio, mounts, mount locations, and same coax cables...9 if not 10 different SWR readings...nuff said...
You do not wire the negative wire to the battery. If you do and there's a fault with the main battery negative cable then all the current being drawn by everything in the car goes straight through your radio and blows it to bits. Do not use a magmount. It is the second most inefficient type of mounting and should only be used for very very temporary installations. You WILL damage the paint and you will crush the coax on it and possibly fry your CB as a result. The best mount is a fixed mount but it requires drilling holes. Breedlove Antenna Mounts in the USA make a puck mount which would have been a far better option for this installation and provided far more performance per watt and better receive. The noise he speaks of is as a result of using a magmount antenna. Using a fixed mount antenna you'll drastically lower the chances of getting interference.
+Conor M0GVZ We didn't wire the negative to the battery, we grounded it on the radiator support. We're not to concerned about damaging the paint as the Jeep is spray painted. I also don't know of any magnet mounted antenna on the market that crushes its own coax cable. The coax comes out of the side of the magnet mount so it doesn't crush it. Thanks for your feedback.
I've been wanting to get one of these! only thing is, I'm not sure if i want it on passenger side or drivers where the legs go! i wanna be comfy on long drives and want my guest in the passenger seat to be as well. i do have the cobra one though! i have a 2012 Dodge Avenger!

i realize it's pretty off topic but does anyone know of a good website to watch newly released tv shows online ?

Nobody watches TV anymore.
It's 2023.

Funny we talked about this as this video was being Made.
Both lines should be fused.

Use a black wire for ground.
Do as I say, not as you do.
:)
A filter at the positive wire will help with static.
The video title aays you will use an antenna to install a radio; how, exactly, does that work?
You fuse should be close to the battery connection..
Where'd you route the coax cable?
How you like it. How’s the anntenna?
I loved it. The only downside is that the height of the antenna will hit the roof of drive throughs and lots of branches when off-roading.
3:30 420 blaze it
Will u get a ticket if you're driving and using the radio?

Did you insert the whip all the way in ? I’m getting red antenna warning. I put the whip 1” into the magnet base as Wilson instructions said.
That’s odd. It’s been so long since I had that Jeep I can’t even remember if I put the whip in all the way. Sorry.
You still need to put a meter on it and adjust the SWRs. Unless you like a soon to be fried radio.
2:20 That face tho!!! 🤣😅
Needs to take a shave.
Headliner!
We don't need no stinking headliner.
Just adds weight.
i have a cobra 29 and wilson 5000 coming is that a good set up
Michael Campeau should be. Wilson's are the best mag mount antennas on the market
yeah i love this set up crazy range
ya its a great setup.. i'll be doing that same setup 2 my tractor. i have a cobra 29 lx in my house 2.. & a cobra 18 on my atv..
Did you check the swr?
What's that?

I just scored a cobra 18 ultra weatherband cb. N there is a black red n orange wire. what is the orange wire for?
Traveling back in time to 5 years ago....Read the manual dummy!

Funny.. 10-9 ? It works fine...

Mount it on the passenger seat between the legs.
Then if you ever get a woman in the car, you have an excuse to "get all up in her business".
It can be stolen in seconds mounted that way.
No one’s going to steal that piece of crap 😂

You got that right. You can have the one I bought.
Unless he's talking about the antenna.
They're pretty good.
100 dollars for a Cobra 19 and a Wilson 1000 ? How did you manage that ? Impossible😀
Maybe it was $100 and some weed.
no swr check? Strange.
Only amateurs do that.
They're professionals.
where do I connect other end of attena connection?
Good question.
You fully insert it into the bunghole located at the rear.
I love the face!
