man she is like a wizard in the movies during a cool scene where they are just casting spells left and right. like Dumbledore or Gandalf during a big scene. casting the most amazing spells with little to no effort (seemingly) totally in controle at all times. truly awesome in the literal sense of the word.

She is an absolute gem and, after a couple of videos on her TH-cam channel, look forward to listening to her full catalog of music. Simply amazing. She is the definition of Super Drummer. @@AndrewRooneyDrums One thing I thought I should mention, that I have learned studying with her is that she does not use traditional rudiments in her music, but practices every possible accent combination in each subdivision- even and odd- so she can be free to listen and improvise while playing. In a sense, she is continually making up her own "rudiments", so to speak. Does that make sense? Very organic...
Love Anika, downloaded some of her drumless tracks a few years ago to work througg with my students. She is incredible, regardless of gender and musically is wonderfully unique

Great channel Mr Rooney! Top level women drummers, please have a look at Emmanuella Caplette playing PASIC 2018 you speak of high level drummers having head space, well she is no exception. A great example of pure comfort and the sticks are an extension of her body.

P.s. the dry China and the heavy low end drum tuning, so tasteful and complimentary to her playing PLUS She is absolutely surgical in execution ! So impressive

Oh. And I just read that she started playing the drums at the tender age of 26. That's pretty rare.
There are some really great progressive female drummers these days. Anika Nilles, Ronni Kaspi, Camille Bigeault, Senri Kawaguchi and many more.

Anika loves her cymbals dry as a desert, which is not really my style. But man oh man, if there's anyone in the world you can trust to extract every last bit of goodness from those dry Meinls, it's her.
Also, I'd say that one of her other big trademarks is to play a fill, then do an extra big cymbal hit + kick (or two) on the sixteenth note (or eighth) - after - "1". She does it a lot in this song. Very non-traditional, even in this prog-pop genre where creativity is the name of the game, but it adds a certain propulsion that's cool as heck. I can't think of any drummer that was doing this to such good effect before her.
Kickass drumming aside, I happen to love the song she wrote and is playing here, "Mister", it's absolutely beautiful! I actually listen to it casually and not just when I stumble upon her videos.
Anika Nilles, so blessedly good drummer! And Lari Basilio is so blessedly good guitarist! I wish that they will play together some day!
I'm just wondering why she isn't washing up? ...... Kidding! amazing syncopation! Those tight quarter note lags etc and again , completely feeling the the piece . What a solid snare!
Please react to Luana Dametto. She's the drummer with Brazilian death metal band Crypta. She recently released 2 drum playthroughs from their forthcoming debut album.
Interesting feel. With such music, I'd expect her to be on top of the beat in certain parts. She seems to do the opposite and really lays back even while doing fast and intricate stuff.

Wow I've loved drummers for 40 years and never heard of her. This was exceptional... What band is she in
She is German and plays with very good musicians. She writes her own songs (mostly) and because of her talent, blew us all away. On TH-cam look up “Wild Boy”. All the other early stuff will come up. She is awesome. Nothing disappoints.

10:15 I hate to say it, but I think the reason for the disparity for so long had been a cultural thing. It took men a long time to be willing to accept and celebrate women in the music industry for their skills. Clearly, we are improving now, with your efforts being one of the most notable online, but there's still much work for fellas like you and I to elevate and showcase the ability of these female artists.
