47:43 In the US ESPN has the rights to F1, and it's commercial free (which no other show on ESPN is). . Motogp is finally on MAX (HBO), due to the purchase of BR
MotoGP already has along history of being very popular here in the US going back to the 80's and 90's Americans the like of Roberts, Schwantz, Lawson, Rainey, Mamola, and Spencer were the dominant force in the 500cc era. The only difference is MotoGP hasn't had a American rider since the retirement of Edwards and Spies over a decade ago, not to mention the tragic loss of Hayden. Anyhow I'm more worried the fate of WSBK as it also under Dorna since it has always played second fiddle to MotoGP despite making gains in the past few years to compete with MotoGP. One thing I don't expect though for this to tempt Kawasaki or Suzuki to make a return.
Guys, I think one of the main reasons is very simple. Silverstone is not a good track for spectators! I’m a die hard MotoGP fan and I always choose Brands Hatch GP for BSB over MotoGP silverstone. You can get so much closer to the track and it’s a better experience. People go to the TT because of how close you can get. Likes of silverstone need to work out how they can get general admission fans a lot closer to the action!
Yeah, I agree on your point about Silverstone. I will go to WSBK at Donington for the weekend because it's a track where you feel close to the action and you can walk around it to see action on every part of the track. I'll only do MotoGP for a single day at Silverstone but I tend to stay in just one spot.
I Just hope that more manufactures are encouraged back in to the top level and the support for the Moto 2/3 get the same attention. As for Silverstone not sure how they will bring in more fans, we have been for the last 3 years and we wont be going this year. We have decided to go to Donnington Park for BSB & WSBK, it just simply better circuit. Maybe they could do a second round there. One thing for sure it would sell out. great episode guys.
Since Dorna took over in 94, we saw the grid flooded with Spanish riders. Before that it was American and Australian dominating and spanish were nowhere. Not an accident, Dorna did that. So I think this might be a good thing. Though I’m no fan of F1, most boring sport I’ve ever seen in my life, but if we could get back to a World Series instead of a Spanish cup that would be great.
Dorna will still be the management running Motogp As for the riders these countries your complaining about, they have had young rider programs for years bringing on the young talent Name an American or Australian rider that’s capable of running in Motogp, even moto2
Bring back multiple overtakes and everything else will work out. As an American I don't care about nationalies . I root for Rins Morbidelli and Nakagami. If Joe Roberts is the real deal I will certainly cheer him on.
I think they should put Moto 3 or Moto 2 on Freeview. I watch all three. I love watching riders develop over the years and come through the classes. Younger people may be excited to see people similar age to them ride. Then they will want to follow their careers too. Then you are continually developing new audiences.
Re UK Licencing - the whole concept of a graded licence should always have been across the board. You can pass a test, but not be able to ride a 650 bike, but you can pass your test and drive an Aventidor / Audi S5 etc. Judging by the videos that surface, there's more bad behaviour these days in hypercars than there ever was on big bikes.
Hope new owners don’t forget the other classes, when I try and introduce anyone to bike racing, everyone says the same Moto3 is the best to watch! F1 is the most boring spectacle on par with golf, great show everyone Joe
F1 on telly, news and anything cool. People like what screens tell them to like. MotoGP on the above equals more people thinking it’s cool. That means bigger hills to watch it. I’m ok with that.
Absolutely excellent news. They’ve made F1 huge and they’ve made some great changes to both the cars and the spectacle. GP has been broken for a few years. It’s not exciting or exhilarating at all it’s lost all of its characters, the bikes look awful, aerodynamics are dreadful, crowds are down it needs fixing. World Superbikes is the best series at the moment I just hope they look after WSB, it needs promoting properly.

I disagree with the philosophy that American's need an American rider to buy into MotoGP. I fell in love with the sport in 2017 as an American and plan to go to my first race in Italy this year. I want to see the best riders with great personalities and skills regardless of nationality. However, I would love to see more opportunities to go to races in America. However, I do hope that rider spots are open to anyone from anywhere and no preference is given to anyone.

In the UK we need a winner in Moto gp, and for all the reasons Kieth has put forward it's very difficult, however, for me the bigger problem is the personality of the rider, when Cal was winning in Moto gp no one knew who he was, now go back to Carl winning in WSBK, many people I knew who knew nothing about motorcycles talked about Carl, and Brands was a sell out, tens of thousands of brits travelled abroad, and record numbers watched on television, very similar to the Sheene era, so for me we need a winner who is also a very big personality, sadly I can't see one on the horizon.
