Rogers to Jainis x2 should be at least #2 on this list. Eventhough the passes only sent the game into OT, two hail marys on on drive, one on 4th & 20 backed up in your own endzone, and the other on the last play of regulation, that's insane. Rogers actually threw for more than 100 yards with those two passes alone.

@@lindaperkins5038 The first Janice catch was 60 yards, the second Janice catch was 41 yards. That's 101 yards total. There was a penalty in between the passes, so the packers got backed up before the 2nd hail mary.

I was at both of the Hail Mary throws at Lambeau. I was in the end zone for the one Hakeem Nicks caught for the Giants. It was as soul-crushing of a touchdown as you could get. The Packers were playing poorly in the first half and were going to be lucky to be only down by three at halftime. That essentially ended that game. I can also remember a fair amount of Giants fans being at that game, with so many people assuming the Packers would host the NFC Championship Game the next week.
I was in the opposite end zone the one that Randall Cobb caught. I said to the people around me while they were in the huddle before the play, "wouldn't it be something if Aaron could throw a Hail Mary five years later to avenge the one from five years ago?" It was the best gameday experience I have ever had at Lambeau. I was five rows up from the end zone, the closest I had been to the field, and Aaron Rodgers was a baaaaaaaaaaad man!!!!

Here's how I would rearrange 3-7: 7: Fail Mary, 6: Hakeem Nicks' catch 5: Randall Cobb's back of the end zone catch 4: Jeff Janis' two Hail Marys 3: Richard Rodgers' catch in Detroit. Also, I would rank the Kramer to Rashad at no 1. with the "Original" at no. 2.

Everyone overlooked the fact that White Shoes actually slipped before catching the ball, making it that much harder to recover and score a TD.

The play maybe the second most important hail mary as the first is the first. That season could be completely different if failed mary didn't happen. The packer would also have to complain about how bad the packers have been instead of this play for the pass couple of years.
Rodgers, after the miracle in motown, runs almost exactly the same as Favre throwing that TD is the SB. Hits the three major poses, helmet up hand up, both hands up, fist AND fingers up. Brings a tear to my eye lol

The forgotten moment in the Favre one: just before the "hail mary", he made a horrible throw right into the chest of a DB for what should have been a game losing interception, but the defender dropped it.

Fail Mary should never have counted.
When an offensive and defensive player catches the football at the same time, posession goes to the offensive team - it's in the rulebook.
Before there was any ruling on the play, in real time the announcer for the game actually say it was a 'simultaneous catch' and the real question is does Tate have his hands on the ball before the defender establishes possession, not just in the air while holding the ball.
Jeff yeah but you can’t tell me he caught it one handed like that 😂 it basically was Jennings cradle that helped Tate look like he did but he never did. You can see Tate’s right arm come off the balls to try to grab it..definitely not a catch.

Roger Staubach as the #1 Hail Mary is the right choice. Before that moment, nobody called it a Hail Mary as it was just viewed as a last ditch effort play. When Roger Staubach called it a Hail Mary, the rest is history and that is why ever since then we call it a Hail Mary.
3 and 1 both are about cheating or bad calls not made both should be much lower .The coolness of Ahmad Rashad should be number one .
It is what it is. The play by Roger Staubach is #1 for a reason why we call it a Hail Ol' Mary play because of what he said in a post game interview. Nobody ever called it a Hail Ol' Mary play before that but since that play by Roger Staubach, the words Hail Ol' Mary was born and the rest is history. Sometimes the Football Gods play a hand in these situations.

at least they got the number one right, i remember watching that came realizing yet again that roger Staubach could stink up the place for three quarters and then go other worldly for the 4th quarter and pull out a win. He was without a doubt the greatest comeback quarterback of all time
That throw from Aaron is absolutely stellar and incredible. If you lay that ball out straight from the point that he launches it to include hight and arc, it easily covers 100+ yards. 30+ yards up in the air and then the drop from mid air at 70 + yrds. Then you look at Aaron Rodgers Right biceps muscle. He's basically got nothing more than a high school senior it looks like. And what's incredible, is he does it again and again to prove he wasn't just lucky on that first throw.
Rodgers doesn't lift weights...but he's big on Yoga and all that other weird stuff--which keeps his arm/shoulders/core/legs strong and loose....two traits absolutely essential for throwing.
@@rayseva1278 Definitely helps. Technique is better than size from weights when it comes to passing. Look at all the long passes, Bradshaw, Farve, Marino, Elway. Hell, Elway tore his Biceps tendon totally off and he said he could throw easier than before and he joked that his arm looks like a 9th grade girl. 😀

This is a terrible list. Of the three Rodgers Hail Marys (so ridiculous to say there have been three), the one versus the Giants should be last. Yes it was outdoors, but who else in history could've made even made the throw against the Cardinals? Falling backwards to his left he threw it sixty yards with pressure in his face. Just silly. And against the Lions, there are a few guys who could throw it 70 yards for sure, but that high? Nah.
Eli's was OK, but it was about a 45-yard pass that was thrown into an area where the Giants actually outmanned the Packers 3 to 2 (thanks a lot Dom Capers).
Justin Ritzel I think they were going by significance, that’s why they put Eli’s so high. Considering they were 15-1 and we were 9-7 and nobody thought we had a shot at beating them, it was pretty amazing. There were far more impressive plays like Rodgers against the cardinals, but it kinda lost significance cause they ended up losing that game.

I remember Tim Couch's "Hail Mary" very well. The Saints, on their previous drive hiked the ball with 20-30 seconds left on the play clock for 4-5 downs in a row. Result: the Brownies were left with just time for Couch to lead the Browns to within his throwing range. Poor clock management.
Eli Manning's Hail Mary was not even close to the caliber of aaron rodger's hail marys. I do not know how you put that #4.

In my opinion, Drew Pearson pushing off his defender makes it even more appropriate as the #1 play on this list and the original Hail Mary pass. He is, after all, a "sinner" for committing that penalty, tying it back to the prayer.
The thing about the fail mary is that they asked the regular refs the next week about it and they said it was a good call

As a Ravens fan I disagree it was a hail mary. It was third down. I think for it to count it has to be your absolute last chance. That's why it's not referred to as a hail mary but just a miracle. If this one was a hail mary then every long pass beyond the 2 minute warning is a hail mary.

In #8, not only did Billy Johnson not make it to the end zone at the end of the game (no instant replay in 1983) but Atlanta also got a gift TD at the end of the first half. Atlanta's Kenny Johnson knocked Reynaldo Nehemiah unconscious after a reception. All the players on both sides were standing around concerned about Nehemiah's health when one of the Falcons realized the refs hadn't blown a whistle, picked up the ball and ranit 64 yards for a TD.
