In 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba "Spare Tire" Dixon.
Pre-2018: Touchdown! That was an AMAZING leap of faith! What an incredible turn of events! Post-2018: And the Refs throw a flag on the play. They don't know what for yet, but they'll think of something.
I was at that game as a kid. My dad had to go catch a flight, so we decided to stay for one last play. We were standing in the tunnel to leave and then this happened!!! Unforgettable!!!
You’re not a true Lions fan then because any true lions fan is pissed because lions stopped him and won the game - but once again the refs gave him a bs phantom face mask call, moved him forward 15yds and let him try again. Everyone always talks about the Hail Mary but not the bs calls that led to him getting the opportunity. Another victory stolen from the lions.
Awesome seeing some of the classics: Billy Whiteshoes Johnson, Drew Pearson, Rodger Dodger Stauback, Tom Landry, etc. And I heard Don Meredith I believe! Cool.
My best Cowboy memory. From PA we're visiting my relatives in GA. I wanted to watch my Cowboys, and when their fate seemed sealed, decided I'd stick it out at my aunt's while everyone else went to 'gram's' for dinner. SO many relatives eating crow for the holidays! They were so sweet. It wasn't like they came from behind to beat Atlanta...they had to wait for Danny White to do that, lol. (Love to them all)
That White Shoes Johnson one has got to be the greatest one I've ever seen. The ball was thrown well short of the end zone, Johnson literally falls down, gets back up, catches it off the tip, still has about 6 yards left to go to, outruns a defender by basically going backwards to get around him, gets hit from behind at the ankles, stays on his feet, spins around 2 more guys as he's falling backwards, somehow keeps his butt from hitting the ground as he reaches for the goal line, and is somehow able to break the plane for the TD. Simply astounding.
The weird thing is - I see clips of games I know I watched 'live' at the time on TV at home, and I don't remember the being quality being that bad lol :) Maybe it looks that worse now since its being played upscale on 4k screens, 16:9 when it was originally broadcast in 4:3 of much lower quality.
2:29 Get as far back as you can just like we practiced - even 10 yards into the end zone. Don’t worry so much about the others standing in front of you in the end zone, just get really far back there, the farther back the better. Ready break! Only the Lions.
Walk-off may refer to: an event in a sporting event where the game-winning score immediately ends the game, such as a walk-off home run in baseball, a touchdown or field goal that's scored when there's no time left on the clock or during the overtime period, or a golden goal scored in sudden death in any sport.
