What a great looking model …..I envy your patience and expertise…….as a returning modeller after a 50 year “break” I don’t think I will try this one ….just yet.
Indeed, it takes patience but as a former modeler, you know better than me that when you want a good result, you have to take your time and finish each step well. For me, the only real difficulty with this model are the strings of the masts. It is necessary to hold enough time in the position so that the rope is well stretched and the glue has fixed well. For the rest, we have fun frankly.
I got the same model... I didn't like the glue that came with it. Or the paint. The glue took way too long to set, and pieces would move out of place unless you held them in the exact place you wanted them for a minute, but when pieces are that small it's really not fun to sit and try to hold them in precise spots. I liked how the floor plans were mapped out on the decks though. You could see where all the rooms were and stuff, and they even put the grand staircase in (kind of).
Indeed, there are a lot of small details on each floor that we finally hardly see once the model is fully assembled. For the price, I really think this model is really well made. For the glue, I confirm, I took latex gloves so as not to stick to the pieces and I held on for 30 seconds, I found that it stuck really well. On more delicate parts, it is necessary to repeat 2 or 3 times if it is true.
@@paraguayan99 Then after the glue dries it tends to leave clear globs of dried glue 😑 I just went and bought model glue specifically for modeling ships, all it takes is a MINUSCULE speck of glue and it dries within 5 seconds, it also stays right where you put it. It's not runny so you won't have wet glue running down the sides of your pieces before it dries and whatnot, it's thick. Best investment I ever made. I want to make a larger Titanic model, and kinda do all the walls/hallways/staircases inside the ship. Not really detailed or fancy, just a basic Floorplan. Then I want to made the sides of the ship clear somehow, and sink the model. I really want to see how the ship sank in detail. Its a really stupid fantasy I have haha. To sink a bug realistic Titanic model. And idk why I'm telling yiu all of this haha 😜

Hello! great video :) Im really really stuck on the string part where you have ti melt plastic and thread the string around d- I just got this kit today! please could you go into more depth Because I saw you said to someone that you need to melt the plastic in the comment section below? Please could you tell me a little more on how to do it!? Thanks
Hello Tartan ! Thank you for your comment. I will try to explain more in depth but it is not obvious. Watch the video transition to 1'35 ''. You see exactly how I did it. I cut out several pieces of plastic that are not useful and with fire I heated it and then stretched it. I then cut the stretched plastic into several small pieces with the cuter. Then, I cut the threads to the recommended dimensions (don't hesitate to put 5cm more than what they ask you, it is better if it is too long, and it will be easier for the final assembly). Then you put glue on the small piece of plastic before taking the string and making a knot around it. You tighten the knot for 30 seconds while the glue fixes the rope to the piece of plastic. You make all the necessary cords and you let it dry well overnight. The next day, you will have the same result as on my video at the very beginning and at 1'35 ''. This mockup is a gem, but you don't want to go too fast. Take your time and have fun doing everything well and with love! Good editing, hoping to have helped you a little.
Just bought this on Amazon in the UK, only £50, looking forward to building this, I used to do a lot of modelling when I was a boy, I'm 52 now and hope I've still got the skills to do this!
ce matin je me suis commandé des bancs chez tom's model; ils seront plus réalistes que ceux , basiques, ,fournis dans la boite ; sur ce site on peux meme acheter des chaises de ponts à plier et à coller 😀
@@paraguayan99 je viens tout juste de commencer la maquette 😄 je peins les parties blanches au spray et en meme temps je peins la coque . une question ; pour les cheminées avez vous utilisé la peinture fournie , c'est à dire la "flesh matt" le n°61 il me semble. cette couleur, à cause du nom, me parait bizarre mais en fait elle est très proche de celle utlisée pour le film
finalement j'ai mélangé pour les cheminées , une couleur sable et du jaune lufhtansa,( deux peintures humbrol) le résultat n'est pas mal du tout😄, la maquette est toujours en cours , j'en ai monté d'autres entre temps , et depuis j'ai repéré des erreurs sur la notice de chez airfix grace à ma documentation , et les memes erreurs sur la notice de chez academy , deux aérateurs derrière la première cheminée à tribord sont à l'envers , ils doivent tous etre positionnés vers l'arrière . et à 1,53 de la vidéo les deux éléments blancs au niveau de la soute arrière ne devraient pas etre là , à ces emplacements il n'y a rien . je les ai enlevé de la maquette academy et repositionné les aérateurs , heureusement qu'ils n'étaient pas collés à la cyano 😃
helo; hier soir j'ai remarqué une erreur de montage sur la notice, il y a la meme erreur sur le modèle de chez Academy, bizarre 😀; les pièces (près de la première cheminée) , des aérateurs je pense, E50 et E51 sont positionnés à l'envers ; la sortie des conduits devraient etre dirigée vers l'arrière; d'ailleurs on peux remarquer que tous les autres aérateurs sont bien positionnés vers l'arrière; pour etre bien sur j'ai vérifié sur ma documentation et comme je suis un passionné du titanic , j'ai beaucoup de documentation 😄; tous les aérateurs doivent positionnés vers l'arrière; bien sur comme j'ai monté le modèle de chez Académy il y a une vingtaine d'années, j'ai fait l'erreur😁; donc avec une petite pince je vais essayer de les décoller et de corriger ça ; en fait les modèles Airfix et Académy sont très proches, jusqu'à avoir les memes numéros de pièces; les deux seules différences sont que les bancs sont dans la masse du pont chez academy et à part chez airfix (d'ailleurs ,comme je viens de le recevoir , je vais remplacer les bancs fournis et vraiment pas terrible par ceux en photo découpe de chez tom's model ) ;l'autre différence est que les hublots sont percés dans la coque chez airfix
Bien vu ! Il y a des erreurs effectivement. Je ne me souviens plus des autres mais je les avais remarqué au moment du montage. On reste indulgent vu le prix de la maquette, mais bon ... Il est vrai que le soucis du détail même le plus insignifiant est toujours hyper importante quand on est passionné ! 😅
@@paraguayan99 c'est juste que ce n' était pas logique d'avoir ces 3 aérateurs à contre sens des autres. avec la academy j'ai un autre problème ; il me reste des pièces en plus; encore des aérateurs et meme un bastingage ; j'ai parcouru plusieurs fois la notice et il est nulle part 😀; ça me fait penser qu'il y a une autre erreur ; il y a deux pièces des deux cotés des écoutilles arrières au niveau du pont de chargement arrière; elles sont en trop ; je les enlevé mais ça a laissé une marque ; sur la notice academy ce sont les pièces E40; pour m'aider j'ai un bouquin de référence ;une monographie française "la monographie" de Gerard Piouffre ;hyper détaillée (jusqu'à la taille des drapeaux 😃, idéal si on veux monter une maquette du titanic ; si ça vous interesse il est dispo sur bateaumodèle.fr à 26 euros

Just bought it discounted (altogether came to £40 with a free model plane too!) :D Looking forward to making this beauty! Only issue is the Hull is already assembled and painted but I'm glad I got a chunk of money off it ;)
Congrats, nice discount ! watch my video and you'll see that I ended up repainting the hull too. It didn't suit me and even if the colors I chose weren't perfect, I would much rather have repainted it. Enjoy anyway, it's a great model for the price.

Je viens à l'instant de voir votre maquette sur youtube, c'est juste incomparable ! Elle est sublime et d'un réalisme époustouflant, et c'est une véritable maquette de professionnel. Pour ma part, je suis très fier de ce que j'ai fait vu que c'était ma première, mais on reste sur de la maquette full plastique 😅 ... Mais de mon avis elle reste une belle maquette dans la catégorie plastique. Et il est clair qu'au niveau des couleurs, il y a pas mal de choses à revoir. C'est pour ça que j'ai acheté le rouge et le jaune pour refaire au moins la coque vu que c'est quand même l'élément le plus voyant ! Bravo encore une fois pour la vôtre, elle est incroyable.

It's not necessary. There's enough paint in the kit. Don't dilute it. Take a draft or a sheet of paper, like that after dipping the brush, you will make a small application on the sheet to prevent it from drooling or running on the boat. I only bought 2 more colors to paint the hull of the liner in the prettier colors. But it's not compulsory.

Yeah it's really a beautiful kit for the price and for beginners ! There are 2 pots of glue in the kit, it's enough. I bought only 2 pots of red and yellow paint in addition for the sake of realism of the hull but it's not essential. The kit is perfect, no need to buy anything else on the side.
One question! Can you put the titanic in the water? Thank you 😊, oh other question, is it necessary to put the thing that holds the titanic underneath? the one with the sign underneath that says titanic, thank you! 😊
This model is not made to go in the water, nothing is planned to add an engine or turn the propellers ... After, the bottom of the hull has no holes, and can be placed in the water without flowing. But better to plan enough lifeboats this time ^^ The support to put the titanic is not obligatory ... Exactly, I did not make the two holes in the hull to fix it. I just put it on the support without gluing or screwing and it holds enough. Like at the end of my video.
I might be completely blind! But in the instructions it shows the benches on the aft of the ship as colour 186, but doesn’t give a part number for the benches, and you have beautiful ones on yours! Were they included?

Thank you si much ! The paints included are more than enough. I still had some left at the end of the model. I simply bought 1 pot of red and yellow to repaint the hull of the boat in the colors I wanted. other than that, the kit is sufficient on its own.

I've just purchased this Titanic model kit, whilst the quality of the kit is very good overall, there is one glaringly obvious mistake. The foremast is straight, both the foremast and mainmast should be angled slopping back in line with the sweptback angle of the funnels. The mainmast is angled correctly on the model. This is a ridiculous mistake considering the picture on the front of the box shows the correct position of both masts. I will have to modify this mistake somehow, I can't live with such an obvious error.
Ah ahh it's true. To tell the truth for me too I find that it is a very beautiful kit but there are details which are disappointing. For perfectionists, this model will not be suitable. Personally, it was the color of the too dull and dark hull that bothered me. Everyone has their own detail that will prevent them from sleeping ^^

Yes, there are a lot of parts to paint. But it does not require great precision. I used the paints and brushes from the kit without needing to buy anything else. Except for the hull, the 2 paints red and yellow, and the varnish at 2:05. And finally, the kit does not recommend it but I had fun painting the woodwork on the window sills and railings on the exterior decks. It works well I think. It all depends on the level of requirement that you give yourself, but it is within the reach of all patient and meticulous people. It's not a race.
I think that it is possible. But it is not made for that at the base, it will be necessary to make some modifications so that it floats correctly. Add weight so that the hull sinks sufficiently into the water, plug the holes in the hull which form the portholes and especially drill the hull to place the propellers. In my opinion, there are models that may be more suitable for launching. But given the price of it, it can be tried.
@@Flyingfortress_b-17 It is not made for that but the hull is made in one block and without holes. By adding some weights inside the hull to balance, it should be possible.

Yeah it's really a beautiful kit for the price and for beginners !
There are 2 pots of glue in the kit, it's enough. I bought only 2 pots of red and yellow paint in addition for the sake of realism of the hull but it's not essential. The kit is perfect, no need to buy anything else on the side.

This model is not made to go in the water, nothing is planned to add an engine or turn the propellers ... After, the bottom of the hull has no holes, and can be placed in the water without flowing. But better to plan enough lifeboats this time ^^
The support to put the titanic is not obligatory ... Exactly, I did not make the two holes in the hull to fix it. I just put it on the support without gluing or screwing and it holds enough. Like at the end of my video.

I might be completely blind! But in the instructions it shows the benches on the aft of the ship as colour 186, but doesn’t give a part number for the benches, and you have beautiful ones on yours! Were they included?
Yes, everything is in the kit. At the back of the liner, there are double benches in one piece. And I didn't paint them. They are already brown.
et pour une fois je vais respecter la partie rouge de la coque en prenant la meme teinte ; sur mes autres maquettes j'ai mis un rouge vif , plus chouette à l'oeil😀, mais pas réaliste

The paints included are more than enough. I still had some left at the end of the model. I simply bought 1 pot of red and yellow to repaint the hull of the boat in the colors I wanted. other than that, the kit is sufficient on its own.

I've just purchased this Titanic model kit, whilst the quality of the kit is very good overall, there is one glaringly obvious mistake. The foremast is straight, both the foremast and mainmast should be angled slopping back in line with the sweptback angle of the funnels. The mainmast is angled correctly on the model. This is a ridiculous mistake considering the picture on the front of the box shows the correct position of both masts. I will have to modify this mistake somehow, I can't live with such an obvious error.
Ah ahh it's true. To tell the truth for me too I find that it is a very beautiful kit but there are details which are disappointing. For perfectionists, this model will not be suitable. Personally, it was the color of the too dull and dark hull that bothered me. Everyone has their own detail that will prevent them from sleeping ^^
@@paraguayan99 The colour of the funnels are wrong too, they should be buff yellow, not orange. I'll have to correct that too.

No idea. After the hull is in a single block, so it must be doable if you are a very good handyman and have good control of balance.

Did you need to paint anything
Yes, there are a lot of parts to paint. But it does not require great precision. I used the paints and brushes from the kit without needing to buy anything else. Except for the hull, the 2 paints red and yellow, and the varnish at 2:05.
And finally, the kit does not recommend it but I had fun painting the woodwork on the window sills and railings on the exterior decks. It works well I think.
It all depends on the level of requirement that you give yourself, but it is within the reach of all patient and meticulous people. It's not a race.

I think that it is possible. But it is not made for that at the base, it will be necessary to make some modifications so that it floats correctly. Add weight so that the hull sinks sufficiently into the water, plug the holes in the hull which form the portholes and especially drill the hull to place the propellers.
In my opinion, there are models that may be more suitable for launching.
But given the price of it, it can be tried.
