You'll do great man. I was laid off last year. It is not fun at all. I was able to find a job that paid me more a week after being laid off. It may not look like it now, but sometimes these things are a blessing in disguise.
One expression I always like to live by in times of hardship is: “One door closing is always another door opening”. You and your channel are part of what made me join this FIRE movement to try to retire early and accumulate wealth. There’s not a doubt in my mind that you can get through all of this 🙏🏾
I respect you from being bold enough to share your life and your struggles you're not the only one going through this situation I hope every go will on your Journey too success
This is just a detour to a greater destination. You have done you due planning as the man of the house. A greater blessing is coming your way. Stay blessed and Motivated
Hey my friend- the SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME on the same day. I'm reeling too but I pray that it i just a shove towards what we are needing to do with our lives. Wishing us both a better horizon.
Amen. That exact same thing happened to me years ago. I was completely blindsided. There were rumors of layoffs in other depts but not in mine. I vowed that I would never let myself be put in that position ever again. To be dependent on a company or the government for my income. To be at their mercy. Fast forward 10 years, I got fed up with my 9-5 and was able to walk away from it because I had paid off all my debt and had an emergency fund. Greatest feeling in the world!
The same thing happened to me. What I found is that there were moments when my mind would race and I could feel the depression trying to creep in. I had days when I just wanted to sleep all day. I had to stop myself from falling into that trap. I forced myself into a routine, got up early, exercised, went for walks, stayed active in the job hunt, read more books etc.. think about this, you can do whatever you want to do. You want to drive a truck? Want to work at McDonald’s, cut grass like you said? You can do whatever you want. Good Luck!!
I’m sorry to hear this. I’ve been there and the sun always rises tomorrow. You’re going to have an even stronger channel and make so much money, you’ll hire people. God bless.
JJ, my husband and I went through a rough time when he lost his job in 2010. I went into survival/crisis mode. LUCKILY, we live way below our means, have a VERY low mortgage, have an emergency account and we’re able to make some additional cutbacks. My husband was so bummed out and felt like he let me down. It was actually a blessing in disguise, he was working a TON of hours and it was killing him. Now that it is 2019, it seems like such a minor blip. We now are making more with our jobs and still living with a low budget. We travel and donate like crazy. We love our life and are grateful the only debt that we have ever had is our mortgage. YOU are such a smart, practical and extremely motivated man. I wish you much success! ❌⭕️❌⭕️ Penni
Great transparency man. I feel for you. This would be shocking for us. This should inspire others to get their affairs in order as soon as possible. Your a smart man and you will be fine. This will likely be an interesting opportunity for your family.
This really hits home man and I had a panic attack a year ago and decided to get my finances in order to protect against this very thing. Since then, I've paid down all credit cards, paid off a car, built a healthy savings, and got investments going very strong. Working on paying off the house quickly now too. I guess what I'm trying to say is that people think this personal finance stuff is BS, but in actuality it protects you and acts as insulation from what life can throw at you. This situation that happened to you is a great example of that. Keep doing what you're doing and spreading the good word. Try to find other work, but also scale up your TH-cam...people make a killing on here. Keep fightin man.
So sorry to hear this. Hope you received a severance package. Glad that you are debt free. Praying for Gods guidance in what comes next. You can also video your journey
(Before reading, sorry for my bad english). Me too, but I am from chile, and this situation with riots and marchs made hard time with bussiness and specially with retail stores, I hope you and me can get out of this. I was looking how to proccess all this and it was searching on youtube. I don't know what is my next move, but hell I must try searching instead thiking "i got laid off". Thankyou for your video.
Thank you for making this video... I too recently had to go through this same situation. It’s really hard to be let go for economical reasons, especially when you’re a dedicated employee. You are one of my favorite channels to follow and I will be sure to support you and your family by watching (and liking) every video you put out regardless of the content. It’s not much but it’s the least I can do to say thank you for all the info you have been sharing with us! Keep that chin up cause it only gets better from here!😁
Hi jj. My husband got laid off at 59 years old. Said it was they were getting rid of his position. Mind you this is labor work. But in the long run it was the best thing that ever happened. I was still employed so that helped. About 2 months after that we found out they didn't get rid of his position.
So I have no idea how this video ended up on my feed. I'm not sure I've ever watched any of your videos, but solely because of the title I wanted to come and give you a bit of support. For what little it is worth, I made sure to watch all of your ads, watch the entire video, hit the thumbs up and am now leaving a comment. You seem like a good guy and your wife is blessed to have you. I pray that your jobless time is short and what comes along next is better than before. Good luck to you!
Keep your head up brother! I’ll be praying for you. Who knows it may be a blessing in disguise. I respect your hustle. Just know your TH-cam community has your back!
Yeah man, I feel ya. This just happened to me on Monday, except it was in the afternoon as I was leaving. My boss pulled me aside and told me that it was going to be my last day. That has never happened to me before. She said she likes me but she can't keep me. To be honest the why is still a bit fuzzy. Luckily I'm finishing school at the end of the month and am interviewing for a new job. Having the rug pulled from underneath you like that, it's hard. I will do everything that I can do to avoid having that feeling again. You are very smart and good luck on your job search. P.S. I just subscribed.
This video was definitely important to see. Goes to show that with setting priorities and making sacrifices, you can lessen the blow from things that 'might happen (Murphy)'. This can happen to any employee at any time. Just happened at my job 2 weeks ago. I wasn't directly affected, but definitely makes me think.
Your video today is a reminder to all, that being prepared for such a emergency is so important. Thank you! I'm praying you will find another opportunity quickly.
Sending all positive vibes your way! We all love your channel. Someone mentioned expanding on TH-cam as well. What a great side gig you've got going! 👍❤😊
Thanks for sharing the realities of life. This shows the importance of an emergency fund and living below your means. I'm sure you'll find something soon I'm sure!
Thank you for being so honest with your audience, I certainly follow everything you teach and am fully prepared in case something like this happens to Me, thanxs again and hope you find a replacement fast, they lost a good employee.
Damn man. Sorry to hear that. I know how you feel. Same thing happened to me a few years back. Company downsized. I was shocked and then angry. But it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Full time TH-camr baby! Lol God bless brother. We here for you. Don’t forget that.
I watched the entire ads haha. I wish you the best JJ. I’m an OG subscriber so I’m looking forward to more videos. Remember I think I’ve been here since literally 500-600 subscribers.
Sorry to hear that. I know You'll bounce back and find something better. In the meantime I will watch all ads through the end. It's the least that I can do Good luck.
thanks for the transparency I am self employed so I can't technically be fired but you definitely hit unexpected rough patches and I'm glad you decided to document this so you can look back on it in the future
You are a lovely young man with your head screwed on and good things will come your way. This is a temporary hiccup and you are heading for bigger and better things. God bless you and your family. Keep smiling x
I really respect you for this video. There are very few things I value more than authenticity and you have it my friend. Good luck. Dont let this get you too down. You'll bounce back. Thanks for all the great information.
I lost my job at NASA at the age of 42 after 21 years and I was scared to death. I started my own company and I have never looked back. I am praying for you and your family. I promise this is a gift....truly there is another path coming your way.
Thanks for reminder & inspiration. That’s the reason I’m constant Save, Invest, repeat till the judgement day comes: Everything is going to be fine & sip Maitai by the pool like a Boss!
You are better prepared than Most...far better...what a relief that you have done all this work...both of you...so that this isn’t a disaster to your family!
I feel you man I was laid off yesterday even with a severance and bonus I still hate it. I hate interviewing it’s like starting a new relationship. I DO feel this is a blessing for me as I do for you I wish you well!
I got laid off because there was this new guy and i was trainng him in and he didn't listen to me. I told him what he had to do and he would only do the tasks he wanted to do. And took all the tasks so i had nothing to do and he said that i didn't do anything. And he lied about me just so his brother could get my job.
Thanks for sharing, it is a good reminder to all of us to get our affairs in order. I have experienced lay-offs in the past couple of years. It's a scary situation. I love this quote....."When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us." ~Alexander Graham Bell
Thank you for the advice and I'm sure you'll get that new career very soon. You and you wife are smart with well plans ahead. God bless you and your family.
I love you & I’m so proud of you for getting us in the financial spot you have to make this obstacle a little less challenging. Can’t wait to see what doors open next for you & praying that God helps guide us there smoothly 🙏🏼
Been following you for some months here and on Instagram and I just want to say that my gf and I are rooting for you we want to see you guys keep winning you inspire us to be better 👍
My heart goes out to u and your family. Remember dont be anxious for anything. Praying multiple doors open for u🙏 God has great plans for u and your family. You're on the right track. This made me get on the right track. Everything u have been teaching us u have literally lived and went thru. This taught us all a lesson
Oh man, I am sorry. I was laid off twice in 2001, so I know how it can feel. But I have to admit, looking back, they both turned out to be good events. I'm writing this before I see the whole video, but what I can tell you is that if a company is starting to lay people off, you don't want to be one of the walking wounded. You know, the people left behind. You start having to do more and more for the same amount of money, and it gets super stressful. You have been savvy financially. You will get through this. And you know what they say, when you find yourself in hell, just keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward. You will find yourself on the other side before you know it.
I know that is very tough. I’ve been laid off a few times as a teacher. This happens to us a lot, but I have always been lucky enough to find a new job the next school year. And every time I thought what a horrible thing this is, it turned out that the next school was better than the one I left. So see this as a new opportunity to find something even better for you. Much luck to you and your family. 💗🍀
This is one of the main reason I sarted taking the FIRE movement seriously. I don't ever want my financial well being in anothe person's hands. I'm doing side hustles and investing.
This happened to me to, early in my career. In a weird way, it really set me up for success later in life. You've now experienced the worst that can happen job-wise. I think it instills a healthy sense of humility while also giving you more confidence for future endeavors. Maybe in future jobs you'll be a little bolder or riskier, trying out new projects or attempts you'd be too scared or conservative to attempt otherwise, with the knowledge "whats the worst that can happen"? It does suck though. Give yourself a few days to a week to relax and not think about work. Although it's tempting, try not to hit the ground running right away and panic-search. Take time to find the right fit, not the fastest fit.
Sorry to hear this JJ. Keep your head up (we all know you will), and keep doing what you are doing. You are such an inspiration to all who follow you and this is just another interesting part of your story and we all know you're going to crush it! Much love!
JJ... I can’t believe this has happened. This is a wake up all for everyone. It’s so important to be financially prepared. I hope all the best for you and your family.
JJ, I am so sorry. This happened to me 3 times, but I always bounced back. Let yourself go through the grieving process, then pick yourself up then find your new opportunity. You got this!
Thx for sharing JJ. I can’t imagine what it feels like to get laid off. I honestly never could fully trust any employer I worked for bc of this. I ultimately quit my last job and never looked back cuz my family and I were ready to take control of our own finances and I will never go back to being an employee unless it’s absolutely needed. It’s so true that no job is secure and having that passive income is the best financial security you can have.
I feel your pain, brother! Almost 3 years ago, I lost my job unexpectedly, too. With my own house to pay for, I struggled like hell to find something new for almost a year. Instead of going into all that, I just want to share some tips on how I recovered, and how you can possibly use the info to bounce back from this. Start reaching out to recruiters who can find you contract work. Try Apex Systems who are like the 2nd largest in the U.S. They found me a 3 month contract with a fortune 500 company that paid well. When I took the contract, I thought that at the end of the 3 months, I would be out of work again since I've never done contract work before, but I had to take what I could get. Turns out that contract kept getting extended because there was a never ending flow of work. I made good rapport with the team I was on, busted my ass, learned a lot, put in a lot of overtime since that was pay and a half, and after almost a YEAR of getting my contract repeatedly extended, the company offered me a full-time position with them. I took it, and now I get to work from home full time in the role that I'm in. Turns out the whole team I was on all started out as contractors before they were offered full time. JJ, if someone offers you a contract that pays well, TAKE THE CONTRACT!! I don't care if it's a 3 month or 3 week contract. Take it because these turn into something bigger and better down the road. Hope this helps, God bless!
Times like these give purpose to all the saving, all the investing, all the planning so in a weird way it's a blessing knowing you did things the right way. But it still sucks bro, anyway, I'm sure you'll get your best vids out of this setback.
JJ great job on getting things together (money) way before this ever happened. Many people unfortunately spend everything that comes in and then have a disaster situation when something like this happens. You focused on getting diversity of income, saving $ and investing that $. Great job by you and your wife once again. PS don't get another job. The universe is telling you be your own boss.
Even you are financially prepared, this is a huge psychological shock. I am sorry.
Thanks Mila.
You'll do great man. I was laid off last year. It is not fun at all. I was able to find a job that paid me more a week after being laid off. It may not look like it now, but sometimes these things are a blessing in disguise.
Appreciate it Heat Gat!
You’re a smart guy. I have no doubt that you’ll figure something out. You’ve got this
Thanks Sam!

Wow MJ means a lot my friend! Thank you
JJ Buckner I was going to say the same thing. I know it’s a cliche but I truly believe when one door closes another one opens
Totally agree!!!

@@jjbuckner Welcome
Thanks for the reminder to stay prepared and live below your means. You will find another job.
Good Luck!!
You will be fine. I have been laid off twice in the past 2 years. I didn’t have my finances in order whatsoever but you’re channel is super inspiring.
Thanks Kalyn!
I’m sorry to hear this. I’ve been there and the sun always rises tomorrow. You’re going to have an even stronger channel and make so much money, you’ll hire people. God bless.

And you know what they say, when you find yourself in hell, just keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward. You will find yourself on the other side before you know it.
Good thing you live a humble life im sure your coming back stronger💪
Thanks Gabriel!
Stay Inspired JJ, really like your positive due to the bad news. Wish you and the family nothing but the best man!
Must have been hard to share this, all the best for moving forward. 🤞
Prayers up for you and your family JJ.
Sorry to hear this man. Been there before. But a better opportunity will present itself.
Really sad to hear this. Hope you find perhaps a better job in the near future. Life knocks you down, but you will get, stronger than before.
Appreciate the kind words!
This is one of the main reason I sarted taking the FIRE movement seriously. I don't ever want my financial well being in anothe person's hands. I'm doing side hustles and investing.
Situations such as this only make you stronger. You’ve set yourself up for success, you’re a boss!!!
You can do it! Stay positive and keep pushing forward
Sorry to hear this JJ. Keep your head up (we all know you will), and keep doing what you are doing. You are such an inspiration to all who follow you and this is just another interesting part of your story and we all know you're going to crush it! Much love!
Thank you so much! Really means a lot!
Could not agree more my friend.
Sorry to hear about this. Wishing you the best of luck in finding a new job!
Take this as a learning curve and be more prepared for your new life
👊
So sorry to hear this. Hope the best in your future undertakings.
#nevergiveup
I’m sorry to hear what happened to you at work. I hope better opportunities come your way in the near future. Stay strong!
Times like these give purpose to all the saving, all the investing, all the planning so in a weird way it's a blessing knowing you did things the right way. But it still sucks bro, anyway, I'm sure you'll get your best vids out of this setback.
Thanks man! I hope so!
Thanks Jeremy! What would be awesome is if TH-cam popped for me and just do it full time 🤔
@@jjbuckner look back at this comment, hopefully it’s happening now
@@jjbuckner you made it
Hang in there bro, without challenges you can not get stronger
