Piotr is incredible, and Joyce, well her/your voice is simply other-worldly. Phenomenal. Stunning.

Ms. DiDonato is the most caring, compassionate, kind, and generous artist in the opera world today. Thank you for the gift. Sending heartfelt thanks from Virginia!

This. This is why I became a singer. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful performance. No frills, just love and music. This is what our messed up world needs. Thank you so much for sharing. Please, do this again! Stay well!

I just posted this on my Facebook page: “ Right now the Metropolitan Opera would have been giving the world Massenet’s Werther and with Piotr Bezcala and Joyce Didonato at the helm it would have been The Werther of our generation.
Those two singers, currently the best of the best artists of opera and flush in their prime, are my heros today because they snatched up the closest harpist and pianist (Ceysson and Watkins waaaa?...well, yeah!) and recorded excerpts from, like, their kitchen or something.
This is caring, this is giving and this means the world to hear today.”

I could not have said it better Steven. There are some good Werthers out there (Kaufmann, Flores) but ONE GREAT ONE AND THAT IS PIOTR! And JOYCE IS A SUBLIME Charlotte! Thank you Joyce, thank you Piotr! Thank you Steven for the great insight.

What a gift to the opera loving world. We had tickets but I am sure they will now be a souvenir. Not only did all of you do Massenet proud, but you brought tears of heartbreak to me and so many others through your glorious interpretation. Thank you Ms DiDonato, and Mr. Beczala for bringing the characters to life, and thank you to Mr. Watkins and Mr. Ceysson for adding the atmosphere through your beautiful playing.

Thank you, Joyce & Piotr, for sharing this gift with us. Truly resourceful, and important, during this time when it is so hard to connect with others. (Also, I had tickets to see Werther, so I am particularly appreciative for the opportunity to have a glimpse (well, a long glimpse!))

Listening from Adelaide South Australia. Our Festival of Arts finished on March 15, mostly
unscathed due to our relative geographic isolation compared to the USA or even our own east coast. Brett Dean, conductor missed out on his concerts and was quarantined in the Royal Adelaide Hospital . Said isolation was the preferred state for conductors! We are shutting down gradually. My March 31 Pärt, Shostakovich concert with double violin concerto cancelled . Like many I haven't asked for a refund. Difficult times ahead when No performance means no money. Really enjoying the little concert from Joyce's apartment. Not HD obviously but sound surprisingly good and No streaming breaks so far THANKYOUX1000

That was really cool. It was like your were in my Living Room, not the other way around.
That was so sweet! I think they should just make you a saint now -- forget that dying stuff and all the paper work. St. Joyce -- patron saint of mezzo-sopranos. Might as well enjoy it now. Hope your neighbors did not mind!!

I was fortunate to see the working rehearsal at the Met on 11 March, though my ticket for the actual performance was for 23 March which, of course, didn't take place. Thanks for this personal performance shared with the world.

I wish I had her as my neighbor instead of the people who live here now... just hang out, listen to her rehearse all the time, and talk about music. I could think of worse things lol
I would also like to add that this only having about 5,000 views is a crime against humanity...

This was a lovely gesture from the very beginning of the pandemic. Everybody assumed it would be sorted out in a few months. Now it’s a video I return to quite often. Missing live opera...

Salutations.
