so cool to here you describe your background, most of us are somewhat curious about others. I am a 69 year old retired Electrical Engineer who lives comfortably in Michigan and now I focus on my main hobby - photography. I like your style and ideas and I sure do appreciate that you share them with us all! Thanks and enjoy life!
I really enjoy your videos, Adrian. I've been watching all of them in the order you posted them. I find them informational, inspiring, occasionally humorous and very entertaining. I hope you can keep doing this for as long as you have the desire to do so!
I am fairly new to photography and just bought a Bronica last night. Naturally, I discovered your channel and have been binge-watching your videos since. In fact, I reactivated an old account just to add this comment! I have to say that all of the questions you answered had crossed my mind whilst watching. Your images are sublime and I hope you continue to do what you love; your time will come. All the best to you, your wife and your dog, from us over in the UK!
That's awesome, thanks for sharing! The Bronica will improve your photography, no doubt :) It has many lessons to teach, it requires some patience but it's totally worth it! I wish you the best with that beauty. Thank you so much for your comment, glad my videos helped a bit. Looking forward to hearing more from you and that Bronica 👍
I wish you and your wife all the happiness and I applaud your courage to follow your dreams. Art has never been truly lucrative for the artist, but we do it because we need to. That means sacrifice sometimes but also rewards. Charlie
Thank you so much, Charlie! I completely agree, I hope I can keep making images full-time for a little longer, but if I have to go back to make them before / after work or during the weekends, that will fine as well. It won't stop me :) Thank you so much for your support!
You're living the dream. Your photos are wonderful and I wish you all the luck in the world. I'm sure your passion and hard work will find you happiness and success.
This is exactly how I feel. Photography has been a part of my life for a very long time, but it's just recently I decided to invest all my time energy and resources into it. I'm kind of developing a road map and visualizing what I want it to become in the next say 5 years. There's always self doubt, but at the end of the day I feel like It's exactly what I am supposed to be doing. Personally I don't mind if the road is difficult, actually all the better... the end result is not so important anyway, it's the process. That's probably why I love film so much, there are parallels. Thanks for sharing this video. Just found your content recently...totally enjoying it!
That's awesome to hear, Roman. Having a road map, and even more importantly, a goal to reach (or at least have an idea of where you want to go) is a very good idea. I agree about it being hard, that makes it even better and more enjoyable. I wish you the best of luck, thank you so much for sharing your story and watching the video!
I have been watching your channel on and off for some time now and I have learned through this episode that you have my support as I am a freelance graphic designer/photographer. I used to own my own business up until 2008! Economy was bad and I really haven't bounced back from it emotionally! Keep up the great content and thank your wife for allow you pursue a dream most of us only dream about! Continue to inspire and you will be rewarded for it! Great content! Great work! Just added to your subscription tonight!
You do inspire a person. I had to give up photography full-time because of the economic climate in 2007/2008 and now I am doing it again as a passion while having a day job. But the dream will be to work remotely and taking photos where we go. Thanks for keeping the dream going :)
Thanks, Charl! Having a remote job is awesome. If photography doesn't work for me, I don't think I'd be able to go back to an office. I'd look for a remote job as my wife's and keep traveling. Good luck, and thanks again!
Hola Adrian, I like your photos very much and your videos are very inspiring! I wished I had the opportunity to do photography full time. But as I live in Greece, at least I have the chance to enjoy the Greek islands (from time to time). Have you ever been to Greece? I think I didn't see any photos of Greece on your website (what a pity :-) ). Anyways ... I wish you and your wife all the best! Keep going ... and get lots of exposure!
Adian, just found your channel and subscribed. How do you process and scan film on the road, especially b&w? Do you use a commercial lab? I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
Hi, Jack, and welcome! I develop my own film. I shoot a lot and it's the only way I can afford it. As of right now, I have a "darkroom" (just for development, I scan my film) here in Spain (at my parents') and another one in the US (at my in-laws'). I usually go on a trip and develop once I'm back. I tried something different last year. I went on a 2-month-long trip across the US and I brought everything with me: chemicals, tanks, scanner... it was kind of fun but I will not be doing it again. It can get messy and it's a pain to carry with all of that.
Based on the clips in your video, I think you should expand your range by shooting more minimalist colour images. Aside from that. I admire you and your good wife's courage in becoming a full time photographic artist. You would probably make an easier living shooting weddings or advertising but defeat the object of fulfilling your dream. The very best of luck.
I love your work and it's good that you decided to do what you love doing and I have a question - what site do you sell your stock photos on? Also second question (if I'm allowed to ask two) - what does "aows" stand for? You don't have to answer the second one if you don't want to. Have a nice day!
Thanks! I use Shutterstock and Adobe Stock. Shutterstock pays almost nothing and that's why I pretty much don't upload anymore. I've had much better experiences with Adobe. That's a very good question :) I'm surprised not too many people ask about it. A long time ago I got a domain for my website that was "adrian.otero.ws", and I started using the initials a-o-ws as the username for all the new platforms that were coming out at that time, twitter, instagram... I thought about changing it and go by my real name many times, but I don't know... I like having a 4-letter username.
I am sure you could make money doing corporate work. It may sound boring, but a lot of "image" campaigns like to use your type of photos. E.g., in annual reports, PR material, etc..
I'm sure, I wouldn't mind something like that. I'm still trying to figure out which way to go, right now I'm exploring video, commercials for small business / entrepreneurs / artists. Hopefully I'll be working on my first ones soon :)
Very good and honest video. My opinion is: Get a real job and do photography on the side. But, it’s just an opinion, of course. But, remember what I wrote in a few years from now :-)
Hehe, thanks for the advice! I had a real job for years and I believe I can always go back to that if I need to. Right now is the perfect time for me to try this, and I'd regret it later in life if I didn't give it a try. So even if it doesn't work, I'll still think it was the right choice :)

Thank you for sharing this. Really interesting to understand more of your background and how you got to where you are now (in 2022!).
Gracias compatriota, gracias por enseñar eso que tu sabes hacer tan bien

Thank you so much! I'm happy now, just need to find the way to make a bit of money to keep it this way haha. Thanks for the support!
I like it how you explain the shot...thanks

Thanks for sharing! So good to learn more about you and your story. Keep the dream alive!
Thank you, Riley!

Gracias, for sharing your story! You no longer shoot with film??
Hello Adrian. Where are you getting your music from? It goes well with your video.
Thank you, Willard! I use Epidemic Music 👍
Thank you!

Well Dee, 2 years later now, and looking back I guess your opinion said more about yourself than about Adrian. But that is just my opinion.
