I think getting insulted by any of the Top Gear lads is a badge of honour.

I'm absolutely hooked on your videos and infectious attitude! Here in the US we have several famous car restorers on TV and TH-cam. Matt your approach is the best and has me ignoring the state side channels. I'm not into lowering nor wide body look, but watching you transform the Masterati was very enjoyable. Keep up the great work, you are truly awesome!

I only just started following you, Mat, and I love every minute of it. You are so real and does things the way everyone else would, by trial and error. In regards to the Maserati, I think it is fantastic. I kinda don't like the widebody kit as I think the car is beautiful in the stock version but it looks like a fun car that I would love to drive. So hats of to you for a good job.

I will hold my hands up Mat & say that I have very little interest in the type of cars you rebuild on your channel, however the way you present, your learn as you go attitude & the feel good format of the videos has me coming back every new episode.

Love it Mat. It's taken it to an all new level, on the up and up. Like you say, at the time of the shoot, all it needs is acceleration that matches the looks. By now, you probably have that covered.

Honestly I just respect people who build cars the way they want to build them and not for others approval. World needs more authenticity, we all got something unique and special to offer, embrace it & have fun.

The beauty with cars is that you can adapt them to suit what you want. What you want will be infinitely different to someone else (Mr May). I'd much rather appreciate our differences and celebrate the fact we can take the same stock car and transform it to match different people.
In a world filled with the need to create labels, focus on differences in a negative light, this is a good reason to celebrate differences and diversity.

just found this channel from your gt3 vid! its the bolt channels on the bodykit that kill it, if it was a smooth look it would have been amazing. still a great piece of work!
It’s the first time I’ve seen it and I really like it. You just don’t see them very often and I’ve seen a few at work and they always feel special inside and sound amazing, better than most Ferraris. Great Video Mat!

I’ve been following you for years and I love this build. It’s absolutely stunning! Okay it’s not the most nimble or fastest. But it’s one hell of a cruiser
i love the car. only thing i can't get past is the kit, its so wavy in reflections. its hard to get that straight on fiberglass but it really really shows on that dark color. i actually just found you threw the purchase of Lz's gt3. great vids, keep it up

I started my classic up one Sunday… nothing crazy 1988 944. Sports exhaust but nothing too silly.
Drove back home a few hours later and my neighbour walked up. “Do us a favour mate, don’t rev your mid life crisis so loud on a Sunday… cheers”.

Waited for this Video. Hope James May will respond or better come to see and drive the car by himself. Would be very cool. The beginning of this video shows absolute perfect the spirit of the channel by showing that not everything works perfect as so it is as usaual at any person. That makes you so outstanding of many others. I like the way you show the problems you have with the cars and then also show how you handle with it and fix it.

Mat, I think the look is definitely “mental”. I’ve never been a fan of Maserati, but I dig this build. Loving the wide body kit. It’s different and different is cool (sometimes).

Hi Mat. For slim nuts like that, you can grind an old socket which should allow you to grip the nut. The problem with sockets is they have an internal radius which needs to be removed for slim nuts like this. Try grinding a few mm off it using a grinder or belt sander.

Matt! New to the Chanel and kudos! Living the dream 🤘however, my pet hate and what I drum into guys when I train them up in the workshop is.. nuts and bolts ! A nut holds the steering wheel on .. not a bolt! Hence the the problem is normally the big nut behind the wheel !

I think it looks nice, think it would look better if you blended the bodykit in with filler or something though so it doesnt look like its a bolt on

As a guy of James May’s generation I can see why he thinks you’re a knob, but as someone who manages young teams to me you’re a legend- I love your work! Keep it up!
The car hardly runs, the air ride fills up the whole trunk and makes it scrape on the ground, the bodykit ruins the beautiful body (best part of the car), it leaks water and fries the electrical, probably from the added on spoiler. He calls a nut a bolt as he beats it with a hammer?!? Proper knob. He might as well have a $500 Honda civic with $50k of modzzz, it would take this abuse better. This is not a generational divide, this is appreciating cars vs look at my sick rimzzz bro.

My dad has an old mg b roadster he’s had it for 33 years it sits on the drive through winter and always starts up first time it’s an absolute trooper
This build is definitely not for everyone's taste but it does have it's own meaning! The car is one of a kind and by the means of it, you either love it or hate it! You should send it to the US, there you'll find plenty of people who would die for it! Oooops, too bad, steering on the wrong side XD keep it up Mat, you do an incredible job!

It's not about what I, May or anyone else thinks. It's what you think. And if you like it then there is no discussion. I personally wouldn't have gone down this road with a Granturismo but at the same time I can appreciate it. Normally I would hate the color but it just fits this car.

I'm a new fan from SA. I'm not fond of the wide body look, however, other than that, your Maserati is an awesome car. Sounds great, very nice leather interior, like the way it lifts up for the speed bumps. Would definitely need that here!

Had a GranTurismo for 3 years and used a trickle charger. The car was bullet proof and never went wrong all the time I had it. Apart from usual standard dealer servicing it was a great GT and we drove it across Europe a few times.
It’s a car, not the Mona Lisa. That’s one of the beauties of car ownership. Personalization. Enjoy, Matt!👍👍👍

Mat, to solve your issue with the flat nut. All you need to do is grind down your socket to take the bevel out of the ID to make it flush. Cheers!!! Love your videos. My son and I are about setup to start our car channel
Just got tuned into your videos thanks so much. You can make the socket you needed for the steering wheel by zip cutting the end of the socket so that it is not a chamfered end.

The nut with the steering wheel you need to get the right socket and the grind the bottom so it flat 👌🏻

First time seeing the Maserati. I love it. But it’d never work in Ireland. We’ve got speed bumps the size of downed trees. Cause problems for normal cars. But great looking car.
