@@James-oi6pe Hamburg might not be coming back up this season now though they're bottling it. They're still easily one of the biggest 6 clubs in Germany with Bayern, Dortmund and Gladbach. I don't know about Fulham, I'm Scottish so I don't have a lot of interest in English football.
The current Fulham team underachieved in my opinion. Rafa got safety with a modest Newcastle team. With someone like him in charge, I'm sure Fulham would be in top half with these players.

Those words mean so much more for Hamburg. Hamburg was always in German top division since 1919. Hamburg is the biggest club in Northern Germany. But not many international trophies. In the season before, Hamburg lost in every single competition vs. their biggest rival Werder Bremen: decisive match in Bundesliga title race, semi-finals of DFB-Pokal and semi-finals of UEFA Cup. In 2010, Hamburg's dreams were again the grand final of the Europa League - in their own stadium. Fulham shattered their dream. That was Hamburg's last international match. Many years of relegation battle since then. In 2018, Hamburg relegated from Bundesliga for first time in the club’s history. This is so sad.
So Hamburg is on a self-destruction journey that has lasted for a decade. And it began there.
With the current club management, we will soon be back in Europe. I'm sure

Back when we had varation in the English clubs making European runs, not just a top 6.
We used to get Newcastle, Villa, Fulham, Everton all fighting in Europe.
Now no club outside the top 6 even qualifies for Europa knockouts, some don't even qualify for the groups. That is worrying.
Tony H Well that’s not true 7 can get Europe. If Watford win the FA Cup, they’ll get to go to the Europa league too.
It's because those teams often win the FA Cup as well. If another team wins they'll be able to compete in the UEL, having 7.
Not sure what happens when, for example, if Arsenal qualify for the CL by being in the top 4 but also win the Europa League what happens then?

@@richardbanibensu3046 its always 7 clubs in Europe. My point is there is a huge gap between the top 6 and the rest. Look at Germany, Spain and Italy where all clubs in Europe at least qualify for the group stages. For England it's the top 6 and then nothing. Burnley and West ham didn't even make it to the Europa League groups these last few years.
1 of the Greatest European campaigns in recent memory. Simon Davies and Bobby Zamora were particularly outstanding from what I remember. Great times.

This match happened just weeks after my father, a massive massive Fulham fan passed away. I was in tears this night, knowing that my dad was watching from above and celebrating Fulham’s greatest night.
