  • We met Zony during X-Tour, when he was putting Czech Parkour on the map. Known for massive hops and his loud outfits he was impossible to miss.
Shortly after returning to the Czech Republic he fell and broke his spine. Jason sat down with Orange during his trip to Prague and asked him about his story.

Thank you Zony for being the person you are, thank you Farang for presenting us such an amazing story, you really don't know the positive impact you are causing with your actions, and I really hope to one day be able to retribute that. three weeks ago I broke my ankle and will have a cast on for 2 months. Then I start my journey to learn how to walk again, and everyone has told me give up, slow down, stop doing what you do. Funny thing is I didn't even break it doing any flips, it was playing a "sport". I too have gone through the mental anguish of being told I will not be the same ever again. I agree. I won't be the same because I will be better. Zony your injury has put a lot of things into perspective for me today. If you have passion and a dream that is authentically yours then nothing can take that from you. The greatest in anything have suffered adversity but their dreams were too real to give up on. From countries fighting for freedom to you fighting for your passion, grit, drive, and zeal will move you forward. I hope to have the honor of training with you one day brother but if not in this life then in spirit. I dont even know you but I love what you have done for me today and I am beyond grateful. Thank you Farang for publishing this video, it has done more for me than words will allow me to express. We are truly a blessed community to have so many inspiring individuals.

  • @Joshnpk
    @Joshnpk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I use to train back in the mid 00's. Did Parkour for around 5-6 years before life got in the way and I basically didn't have time to train (job, wife, kids, responsibilities etc). The thing that was very big at the time when I trained was that Parkour is non-competitive and Parkour competitions are against the very essence of what Parkour is about. A lot of people think that running and jumping, doing flips etc is Parkour, but it's not. That is merely a manifestation of what Parkour actually is.
Parkour is a philosophy in which the practitioner strengthens their mind and body through movement. It just so happens that jumping, vaulting etc is the most efficient way of achieving this, hence why people often think that doing these things means they are doing Parkour.
The point of your training when you do Parkour is to gain mastery over your mind, strengthen your ability to assess what you are capable of and develop your ability to enact it. This is why Parkour and competition don't mix well. When you have a Jump and every fibre of your body tells you that you are not capable of doing this you walk away. You go and train on a similar jump that you are capable of doing. After days, weeks, months you return to the original jump and suddenly find every fibre of your body tells you that you can do this, and you do just that. That is how you train your mind and develop your ability to assess what you are capable of doing.
However, when you approach that original jump and your body tells you no and instead of walking away you listen to your friends telling you "you've got this". Or you use the cheers of the crowd to spur you on. What you find is that if you are successful in doing the jump you have in actual fact failed at Parkour. Because the way you were able to achieve such a feat was not through mastery of your mind. But instead was by turning off your brain, using the judgment of your friends or the power of people cheering in order to enable you to successfully land the jump. This is a great way to rapidly progress in terms of movement but is a terrible way to develop an understanding of what you can and cannot do and ultimately gain full control over your mind and thoughts. It is also a sure-fire way to get yourself seriously hurt.
When you train your ability to judge what you can or cannot do (which is a learned skill). And only ever rely on that ability and block all outside influences you find that you very rarely get hurt. As the best method of determining what you can or cannot do is yourself. But when you rely on others to determine what you or cannot do you often find that they are wrong. Thus, drastically increasing the risk of hurting yourself, but most importantly denying yourself the opportunity to train in the actually thing that Parkour is designed to do. Master your mind.
This Guy seems like an awesome guy and his physical abilities are incredibly impressive so top marks from me. The point of my comment though is to point out something that in my opinion seems to be lost in Parkour community i.e. What Parkour actually is.
    Food for thought.

    When Parkour Becomes Harmful:
#1: Going too far beyond your skills.
#2: Going too far when you are tired.
This is a very great short film. It really drives home how we ought to measure ourselves and stay just on the line when it comes to pushing ourselves further to do it safely.

I remember meeting this guy in Denmark in 2013, when he was visiting for "Lachette Birthday Jam" at BGI akademiet, and i sat next to him in the bus. He is the most gentle and humble man I have ever met, and when I saw his movement at the Jam he blew me away. He won a precision competion as far as I remember. Nevertheless, his power and control has since been a motivation for me, and I am glad to hear his recovery went well.

Two years ago I was going palm flip, & once I fell on matrices as well on my neck, but I couldn't move completely for almost one hour, then I moved, but my right arm kept fkr a month, it was so heavy & weak. Finally I started 6 months ago to return to the basics & I can do combos now, I even intend to do twists.
    Happy new year people!

Man, you're such an inspiration ! Even if my injury was not like yours, I experienced something like you (I broke my crossed ligaments and 2 menicus), that was so bad that my surgeon said that i will never do parkour or free running. I cried like a baby and i said to my self ''not possible, that can not end like this'' so i do a lot of re-education and want to do it again even if my parents didn't agree with that xD. And now here i am i can do free run ! Anyway you are a great man ! Keep on going !

You're a boss, thank you for that video you gave us a lot. I failed on a wallflip because (i didn't check enough and i was tired) 8 month ago, my neck did a KRRRRRRRAK but because i'm a lot flexible nothing was broken. I wasn't good. Pain was awful, i wanted to have a good guerison and i had seen that the stop of parkour training made my neck weak, so when i could; 2weeks later i trained in a gym, and in the sand (because at this time i was hurting myself to work flips outside). Now I have to do an other pause, longer because my body didn't heal perfectly and i can't level up.
Zony, thank you for having demonstrate me that the mind is so powerful, and even what i thought the worst fail can be beaten by the force of the will, you have my admiration :)

Glad to see you are happy, recovered, and can jump again!
God love you a lot I think.
I almost can't jump after knee injury, after one bad land in gym on mates... No ski, no snowboard, no skates, no inline skates, no running, no trampoline, no parkour, no many other things... only one accurate back flip on soft ground, and road accurate cycling - thats all I can after 2 years of recovery, and will never get the form I have before. Thats sad, when you looking around, your friends and other guys can do all that things, but you can't... I know that feel very well. Only trying to coach other guys now, to make and learn things in more accurate ways. Glad to see your story, get well and be accurate, love your mom, girl and friends, and thank to God you are alive :)
