I had a conversation with a kid recently where I said that I'd much rather miss long than hit the tape. I think I had some influence on him, and ever since I've been questioning whether I should have opened my mouth cuz if I'm wrong I could mess up his development in some way. I'm glad to hear the same idea put forward in this video. Makes me feel much better.

You're good. My coach always says, they may call a long ball in, but they'll never call a net ball in. Similar idea.

If u hit the tape, the ball will never go into the other side. If u hit long(er), a bird could fly by, pick the ball, n drop it on the baseline. It doesn't matter what u say to a kid, because they don't listen to anything anyway.

Its true..keeping the ball deep with top spin makes the opponent feel overwhelmed..

Boy...you say exactly the things I teach...amazing how much of the same philosophy we have in common....

I realize that because I’m a shorter player I actually keep the ball pretty deep naturally because I don’t have the option of hitting down on the ball that often.

I've been struggling with this concept. Another channel Intuitive Tennis on here says that "pushing the racquet" doesn't actually work. Others may teach it as hitting "through" the ball. He argues that the point of contact with the ball is a split second, therefore the follow through going more straight rather than up does nothing.

“But when you don’t play with angle-“ weird place to cut the video; great tips though for achieving depth!

"you have to play deep." Pause it right when it cuts off and press the comma key a few times to go back some frames. Then you could read the subtitle.

Agree 👌 weird place to cut the vid ‘ would be super interesting to know the next sentence ‘ even pro can have this angle problem especially when they are far behind the baseline ..

The ball bounces soon as it hits. It doesn’t stay long in the racquet. Just say follow thru.

Drop Shot: Because smashing the ball straight into the net is just too mainstream. Let's aim for new lows, people! 🤷‍♂️🎾

Infatti non so nemmeno perchè l'ho guardato?!?!

Same with everything, if you are not rich, you won’t get this kind of premium coaching.
