Hey man, great that you're sharing the love for this great mod. It absolutely deserves it. If I may offer a pinch of constructive criticism: Your showcase does seem a bit scattered as you jump through menus, switch characters and wildly zoom across the continent. It does authentically convey how immense the mod is and how diverse the experience is depending on whom or what you play. But at the same time, I feel that your audience doesn't really get to understand much of any individual thing you highlight other than "as you can see, it's a lot". With PoD perhaps more so than any other mod, I believe it would make sense to tackle it piece meal, in the sense of a video per splat. "What's it like to play Kindred/Fey/Hunters in PoD". That way, you could also more effectively showcase how fundamentally different the experience is for each of these splats, as you would have established a firmer understanding among your viewers. Of course, this is just my two cents, and it should not subtract from the overall really fun video. One thing you absolutely nail is the exhilarating feeling of delving into this beast of a mod. So, if anything, I'd love for this to be the start to more content on PoD. cheers
No that’s actually great advice. I did sort of begin working on a project like that a few months ago when I covered the basic lore of the major vampire clans in the mod but I’ve not gone beyond that yet
I'm looking at my Bloodlines DVD on the shelf while watching, the sense of humor in the game is one of my favorite things, playing as Malkavian is trippy af and hilarious, the interaction with the TV and radio is fantastic.
Bloodlines even had a rare launch problem where they wanted to launch the game with Valve's engine BEFORE Half-Life 2 - contract said they couldn't launch before, so HL2 competition hurt the game (as Author said)
Most of games nowadays need mods to improve or to have better gameplay but this legendary game is the masterpiece on its own core. Long live Troika games. Cant wait for bloodlines 2
Man, this mod really needs some quality of life updates. And my friend is huge WoD enjoyer (and old as those vampires), but his english is... Yeah... Maybe one day we will create our eastern slavic vampire-adventurers and build our stories into small megacampaign
@@Soul_Tomato 1. [Starting screen] 7:00 - personally for me, starting screen is really need overhaul. Maybe make some "selection wall background", not map screen. And make all selectable start maps in one artstyle. Or just leave vanilla map. 2. [Bars for blood, mana and etc] 10:50 - maybe its will be better to put bar under your character... I just really don't like when useful infos locate on different parts of screen (call me old, but CK2 was perfect in terms of information windows). And I know that my friend has really "short-area vision", so its will be really painful if he forgets to look in the middle-down as vampire at his deathdoor... 3. [Lifestyle tree and some thoughts] In my opinion, there are TOO MUCH new lifestyles, decision windows and etc. I may recommend to make some overhaul for lifestyles trees. For example, put supernatural abitilities inside vanilla once (stewardship + ventrue, diplomacy + toreador, intrigue + lasombra/tzimisce) and make one supernatural tree about whole supernatural stuff of your character. Like... As I see, modders somehow managed to make lifestyle tree be locked and hidden (mummies can't see vampiric trees and holy stuff). Maybe they should make something like that for vanilla ones: Vampiric flavor Diplomacy tree, Demonic flavor Diplomacy tree and so on... and on... and on... 17:41 - just look at that tree and say that you REALLY like this... That's my point. And maybe, just maybe it will be better to make "hidden" modifiers about your supernatural abilities and only interact within character-selection interaction window (sorry, english...) like in CK2 with Bloodlines abilities to "Train troops" or "Harass your relatives into fitting your image of a proper dynasty". Ofcourse there will be problem about where to put learning new abilities, but I'm not gamedesigner or hardcore modder. 4. [Personal wishes aka You can skip this section] Maybe with the Road to Power DLC it will be better to move all that supernatural and holy-inquisition stuff on some adventurer's and administrative's floor? Like... Make local feudal mortal humans realm map, so you can play CK3 as vanilla. And one for supernatural stuff. Its will be really interesting experience for lore-playing Ventrue to manipulate whole generation of rulers of HRE and fight both with Church and other clans in this 5D-chess. Because now its kinda sad to see clans and werewolves and mummies and inquisition fighting for territory like normal wars of mortal kings... Just my thoughts.
I remember when the copyright holders for bloodlines shut down the remake for it. Like why. It looked so promising, and would probably be done by now. Why didn't they just hire the team? The remake was basically an exact replica with better graphics, in a newer engine.
It’s how it it always goes. The only reason teams like Skyblivion have gotten away with it from Bethesda is they promised to make everything for it. If you reuse anything at all you’re basically subject to get C&D’d. I agree it’s a shame. There was a GTA Vice City (I think) fan remaster that was being worked on that rockstar killed not long ago too.
4:53 Chinese Room is stepping out of their comfort zone for sure with Bloodlines 2, but they've got a serious talent for writing and pacing. If they can nail the combat and roaming mechanics, it stands to be an extremely good sequel.
The Chinese Room aren't the makers of the Amnesia series, like you said, those are Frictional Games. The chinese room only worked with them on the 2nd Amnesia.
it is sad yet understanding considering the gargantuan size of this mod that you left out the wan kue and their struggle in India, the werecats of egypt and the fact that you can play as a spookie ghost (a wraith) as a custom character, which have their own skills and form of goverment plus high shadowland influence, not to mention the baali demon workshipers of the middle east, the inclusion of true brujah, a cool clan of vampires capable of manipulating time, and the fact that you can play as a mage. They didn't make a mod for vtm, they made the mod for world of darkness.
Sadly I included what I assumed, perhaps wrongly, most players would focus on, Europe and the Mediterranean region (the same thing they do in base ck3). Admittedly I have never played further east than Persia in the mod so my knowledge beyond that is also limited.
Very much a side note in relation to this video, but I'll just say as someone who watches Mr. Samuel Streamer's content a lot it's so weird to see his footage used as an example in a rather serious toned video like this one. Obviously to those who don't know him, without him talking, it just looks like regular average footage, but I guarantee the audio for even that fragment of footage must either contain or lead up to some wild shenanigans that the mod-author(s) likely didn't foresee lol.
Sounds like a good recommendation for the video. It’s mostly just for effect as background - which I try to keep to a minimal. But it’s also credited in the description for those who want to peep more if they so wish
Yep, playing #Nosferatu or #Malkavian DID make #VTMB a very different experience AND increase the replay value. `The day Entenschreck's MOD made us play hunters under Grünfeld Bach also scored!´
While still very cool, it's extremely hyperbolic to in any way frame this as a "spiritual successor sequel" to VtMB. One game is a grand strategy world conquest simulation that takes place almost entirely in various menus upon a stylized map and the other is a first-person RPG in which one can minutely explore every crack and crevice of the cities it takes place in, directly interacting with the world and its characters. The gameplay is so different, so vastly incomparable, that just because someone is a fan of VtMB they aren't necessarily going to enjoy this game/mod just because it shares some aspects of VtMB's lore.
Honestly, if there was a SINGLE studio in the world that could possibly do justice to the og Bloodlines with Bloodlines 2, that studio would be Obsidian Entertainment and the reason is obvious as seen what they've managed to do with Fallout New Vegas, but unfortunately things went through the unfortunate outcome and now Im pretty sure the sequel will be far from actually doing justice to the original.

I don't envy the chinese room having to pick up the pieces and bad public perception of the Bloodlines2 development. From the revealed footage it will be a totally different game (compared to BL1) but it might still be a good game. Let's hope.
I could not thing of a game that were least of a "spiritual successor" to VTM: Bloodlines than this one. It wouldn't even work as a fan-made sequel of Redemption. Mi disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Its kinda like saying that space marine 2 is a sucessor of dawn of war because they are both warhammer 40k games. Even though one is a rts and the other is a 3rd person shooter.
I tried CK3 and found it underwhelming. I don't remember the details but the dynasty and ruling family mechanics just seemed silly to me -I have a friend who likes it a lot and when they talk about it it's about ridiculous things they made happen. I really want a good WoD game and maayyybe this could be it but I'm sceptical that it's build on a solid foundation.
as amazing as that mod looks it doesn't really seem correct to call it a sequel or spiritual successor to bloodlines given that it's a completely different genre of game. like it's really fucking cool to have a vampire the masquerade rts game but it seems odd to use bloodlines as the point of reference for anything other then the setting
The new masquerade I don’t even want to play. They obviously made it toned down for children to play as well. When you do that to a movie or game I refuse to buy.

Also, if you pick from the Fae bookmark, Demon and Mummies and Hunters still spawn. It just adds the Fae to the “Hunters and Hunted” bookmark
They are planning on adding them whenever paradox adds proper east asia to the map.
Edit: I’m stupid. I was confused but yes they are in the mod. I know nothing about the East Asian portion because I never touch it.
@Soul_Tomato They are already in the game. They just don’t have a bookmark
specific for them, but they always spawn. Check the far East of the map, after India. Bunch of Wan Kuei leaders there. They have a bunch of objectives already in the game. Just did a super long playthrough with them.
Yeah, they’ve been in the mod for a good while now. About half of India and most of the everything east of there is that splat?
@ Yeah, they’re rivals with the Anda Horde and the Ravnos bloodline
Last time I was this early, Horus was yet to take over Egypt!
Dang. Real Egyptian hours
@@Soul_Tomato We gettin' outta the pyramids with this one!
Im so glad you gave this mod a look.. it’s been overshadowed by the elder scrolls and game of thrones mods and I think it deserves a lot more attention than it gets
Nice you see you cover PoD. This mod deserves recognition of for all it is. PoD is. by far, the most content rich CK3 mod. The devs churn out updates at a superhuman rate.
Absolutely great team
Just a little thing Vampire The Requiem is not connected to World of Darkness or VTM. It is made by the same company but it is a different setting overall with different Vampires Werewolves etc.
Isn’t it just the successor to the Masquerade setting post the apocalypse?
@@Soul_Tomato No Chronicles of Darkness (The Setting for VTR and other books) is a more horror focused thing it is also typically set in the modern day or medieval times. Basically Clans are entirely different only having 5 compared to 13 in VTM. It does not Caine or any official Vampire creation plot, with actual ghosts instead of wraiths no Wyrm for Werewolves etc. However it is basically a dead setting since Paradox does not seem to be interested in publishing more books for it with the success of the World of Darkness
Oh so it’s like how Warhammer replaced fantasy with age of sigmar sorta deal.
@@Soul_Tomatotldr VTM/World of Darkness came first. They did End of the WorldTM mega plots and ended the WoD. They then started VTR/Chronicles of Darkness and did that for a while till they kinda dropped it when they picked up the World of Darkness again
@@Soul_Tomato Essentially Vampire the Requiem and the Chronicles of Darkness was their attempt to revisit the core concept of VtM/WoD but make a less-lore heavy world that could be more easily molded by the players. They eventually returned to doing VtM/WoD, and it seems that VtR/CoD is mostly going to be left in the past now.
The ck3 mod community is really something incredible
I know this is a bit late but Happy Halloween! Merry Xmas too! 🎄👻
I haven't played VtMB and I don't know anything about the WoD but I played this CK3 mod and I absolutely loved it. Amazing overhaul.
Incredible that people made this incredibly deep and detailed mod for free
I'm looking at my Bloodlines DVD on the shelf while watching, the sense of humor in the game is one of my favorite things, playing as Malkavian is trippy af and hilarious, the interaction with the TV and radio is fantastic.
I just got back into CK3 and i love this setting and is one of my favorites in fiction. thank you for sharing this
Didn't expect king's fields theme to fit this setting profoundly, great job! 👍
Thank you thank you
I was so confused upon hearing the music in the background I was like "This sounds like King's Field, oh wait"
Doing Caine's work!
I still play Bloodlines from time to time. It still has the best soundtrack to any game that isn’t a music game.
I played this mod years ago when it was just vampires before CK3 had any expansions. I am stunned how different it is today.
And continues to grow all the time
Nice mod, I will give it a try
In what way?
@@Soul_Tomato
1. [Starting screen]
7:00 - personally for me, starting screen is really need overhaul. Maybe make some "selection wall background", not map screen. And make all selectable start maps in one artstyle. Or just leave vanilla map.
2. [Bars for blood, mana and etc]
10:50 - maybe its will be better to put bar under your character... I just really don't like when useful infos locate on different parts of screen (call me old, but CK2 was perfect in terms of information windows). And I know that my friend has really "short-area vision", so its will be really painful if he forgets to look in the middle-down as vampire at his deathdoor...
3. [Lifestyle tree and some thoughts]
In my opinion, there are TOO MUCH new lifestyles, decision windows and etc.
4. [Personal wishes aka You can skip this section]
Maybe with the Road to Power DLC it will be better to move all that supernatural and holy-inquisition stuff on some adventurer's and administrative's floor?
Thank you for introducing me to this. As an old school WoD lover, this ticks so many boxes for me!
I’m so glad :)
4:53 Chinese Room is stepping out of their comfort zone for sure with Bloodlines 2, but they've got a serious talent for writing and pacing. If they can nail the combat and roaming mechanics, it stands to be an extremely good sequel.
It only benefits the Ip if it does well. I sincerely wish them luck
I stumbled across this video on a whim and have never played CK3, but I definitely want to play this.
The Chinese Room aren't the makers of the Amnesia series, like you said, those are Frictional Games. The chinese room only worked with them on the 2nd Amnesia.
I always forget a machine for pigs isn’t the first one. My b
it is sad yet understanding considering the gargantuan size of this mod that you left out the wan kue and their struggle in India, the werecats of egypt and the fact that you can play as a spookie ghost (a wraith) as a custom character, which have their own skills and form of goverment plus high shadowland influence, not to mention the baali demon workshipers of the middle east, the inclusion of true brujah, a cool clan of vampires capable of manipulating time, and the fact that you can play as a mage.
Had the mod downloaded for awhile and this got me into the mood to finally give it a go.
It can be daunting but it’s very much worth it
Very much a side note in relation to this video, but I'll just say as someone who watches Mr.
I love PoD so much! My favorite start is probably Sister Worm, the Black Spiral Dancer of the Shadow Curtain.
I plaied as Aires, it was kinda wild as I would just spam those crazy op demon armies with aires himself being a great general.
To me,best vampire game since bloodlines is either The Council, Vampyr, or the Cabernet
Vampyr was kinda jank but a lot of fun
@Soul_Tomato basically vtmb then. Jokes aside, I believe it is the closest VTM Victorian age game.
so as someone who is intrigued by this mod but hasnt played ANY paradox game before because the complexity and settings never hooked me. would you say i should play ck3 beforehand and learn the mechanics to understand and play this mod?
coincidentally ck3 is on sale on steam right now. thanks for the video!
Honestly ck3 is the most character focused and new player friendly. It also has a really effective tutorial that’s easy to follow
people should totally convert that new solium infernum game into a setting of one city and have the power struggle of the clans and sects and all other supernatural creature in it
This is the reason I'm finally moving from ck2 -3, mind blown!
15:43 nice reference to his character sheet
I will say that, yes, it was a fun mod, but it's certainly not going to scratch the same itch in any way. It IS the only way I play CK cuz its not my kind of game, but it's def just a new flavor of CK.
Every time i watch your dang videos you suck me back into some version of ck3!
Thats what I’m here for
Should I try this modify I’m completely new to CK3? I have not played any CK games.
I’d play the Ck3 tutorial first
Playing as fae would really benefit from you reading some of the Changeling books to understand the mechanics.
I have the CK2 Mod version. Been meaning to get CK3 and WoD mod, I might have to do it now. Btw is Cristof from Redemption in this? 🤣
how do you get a deer pooka as santa in this mod?
Search through the pooka characters in the character finder and look for one with antlers.
Just got into VTM and didn’t know this existed. What Mods go good with this ? I was planning to play a termere
Honestly I recommend just playing this one as is for a while PoD is pretty feature complete as is
Just go with PoD as is to start.
This series, i remember never being able to get redemption to work. And this game when i finally got it to boot and work after installing a printer driver would refuse to work ever since. I have since finished redemption. It might be tine to try and play bloodlines again
Is there a good tutorial somewhere for beginners? If not, Soul should make one.
You know I’m not sure. You could ask around the discord. It would be a lot to do as an individual but I could consider it
Tbh the game explains all you need to know pretty well methinks, it’s just.. a lot of reading
@@nocsiou Idk I know I would like it…I just bounce off the deep mechanics every time. I admit it’s 100% a problem I could solve by reading a bunch and diving into the lore/mechanics very slowly.
But I would rather watch a video 😂
Thanks homie!
Any submods you like or good as is?
Good as is
im sold, im trying this out!
there was an official patch released at some point too. updates vtmb to 1.2 if i remember right.
would it be better to play the base game first or could I jump straight into the mod without difficulty?
i am a huge fan of White Wolf WoD. i have played the table top, LARPed, read many of the books and played both of the games. I need this mod in my life.
Honestly it would be smart to at least do the base game tutorial
Dark reality from kings field in the background? 👍👍
You know it
>Damn, I can't believe Soul Tomato is reviewing the second VTM Ga-
Oh
10/10 that's hilarious, you rascal lmao.
😎
I really like the mod but it has nothing to do with bloodlines.
Yeah I changed the title. Wasn’t crazy about it to begin with but tbf it has everything to do with it considering they’re the same world.
Nah, I'll keep praying for bloodlines 2.
Man the bait and switch was glorious but NO
Personally, I think Vampyr by DONTNOD Entertainment is one of my top vampire games right alongside VTMB and Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen. Honorable mention to the Dawnguard DLC in Skyrim. With mods the vampire experience can be quite fun and challenging in Skyrim. RTS games are not my cup of tea, but this does look cool.
Neither Vampyr nor Skyrim deserve to be in the same position as VTMB and Legacy of Kain. What the fuck even
@@ir6734Shut the fuck up. It's called personal opinion, asshole.
It’s the fallout new Vegas of vampires
What about V Rising tho?
I didn't even know this existed, and it has almost all the things I wish for ina VTM RPG :D
lacking the actual setting, as in the zones your character moves through, but still, good try, better then text adventures
Mi disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
i did not know werewolves were in the mod 👀
Oh yeah and they have TONS of stuff to do
I don't know if they change this but hunters coutiers are always have below 5 stats across the board. Its so difficult to survive q.q
It’s def one of the hardest ways to play
yeah but in order to play it i need to learn ck3.
i don't have 2 years.
Actually it may even be better to go in raw because of how different it is
It’s not as hard as you think, I was in the same boat with ck2 but doing the tutorial and then doing a (long) test run (in wich I furiously googled a lot of things related to the game) to get a good feel for what I learned I was basically an average level player
@@nocsiou ck2 was a nightmare to learn. at one point they even broke ingame tutorial with expansions and cba to update it XD i spent hours on yt vids to comprehend wtf is going on there (just to learn that half of what i learned on them yt vidya was outdated info and was changed with multiple dlcs). ck3 like that to a lesser degree but it's still a bit much to take in unguided imo. i tried pod 3 times now and idk maybe i picked up too hard characters to go with but i had no clue what i should be doing 90% of the time, like i was clicking things and doing stuff but i felt like i was randomly stumbling in the dark XD
and dont get me wrong - great games both of em, but they DO require a bloody phd from them to be able to play proper.
Does anyone know if this mod works on Mac version of the game?
It does.
@@flintsparc awesome, thank you
Great video
‘lost’ is misleading. they fired/let Mitsoda go n there was a lot of backlash about it.
17:33 …but could you do one?! that’d be awesome!
That game/mod might be great, but a spiritual successor to Bloodlines it clearly isn’t.
4:32 Machine for pigs, not the Anmesia series. Don't do the guys at frictional games dirty like that, man :-p.
I mean, PoD seems like a really good game, but it wouldn't really scratch the bloodline itch for me personally.
I mean sure its WoD focused. But the style of game is so far removed from Bloodlines as a game I wouldnt call it a successor.
Its kinda like saying that space marine 2 is a sucessor of dawn of war because they are both warhammer 40k games. Even though one is a rts and the other is a 3rd person shooter.
Dontcha ferget 'bout dem dere Aralu!
Can you play as a landless character in this mode? For example vampire hunter
That is actually being worked on. They should have the landless update out soon though
@Soul_Tomato thanks. will you make a video about this update?
For sure I will
I tried CK3 and found it underwhelming.
I need a tutorial like gameplay of this. Looks very complex
I’ve played the mod a couple times which could be a good help for starting out
I have thousands of hours with this mod.
Based
I think I'm going to reinstall it
Chinese Room only did one Amnesia game...Machine For Pigs...the one that sucked.
The new masquerade I don’t even want to play. They obviously made it toned down for children to play as well. When you do that to a movie or game I refuse to buy.
No this isn't even close.
