I have always loved Barbies in gowns because I have never worn something like that. The closest was maybe my graduation, but it wasn't full-length, and I never got married. It is really is nice to know that there are many doll collectors who still feel the same joy opening a Barbie now as they did decades ago. The Teacher and Astronaut Barbies were part of the My Favorite Career line, which is why their boxes weren't as elaborate. There were also Registered Nurse and Stewardess Barbies. My favorite anniversary reproductions are the Silkstone Reproductions. I'll never have a Number One but I have both the blonde and brunette. They're great, just different enough so no one should confuse them for 1959 dolls. Absolutely love them. I got Midge and Allan and, surprisingly, Skipper. I've never been a Skipper fan. My mom got Skipper and Skooter for me because she thought Barbie was "too sexy". But the Silkstone Skipper is an absolute delight! Am getting Silkstone Ken for Christmas but he might get new flocking. Can't wait to see what they do next year!

The 35th with fashions is the brunette version, which is from the convention of that year. Regular was blonde. It was very hard to get at the time! Robert Best designed the 2009. He also designed the green and gold gown from 2011, which is also gorgeous

For Barbie's 50th birthday, many celebratory dolls were released. In addition to those you mentioned (I have almost all of them, except the afro 50th anniversary and the repros of the teacher, the astronaut, the American girl and the bride), Mattel released a "Since 1959" series in the Silkstone line that included the Debut (caucasian & afro), the Stunning In The Spotlight, the Southern Belle, the Parisienne Pretty and the Gal On The Go: all magnificent!!! (so different from the very poor celebratory line they did with fashionistas for the 65th anniversary). I have the Debut caucasian and the wonderful Stunning In The Spotlight. And in the 2009 Mattel also released a Barbie My Favorites Mini B. Time Capsule gift set featuring the original Teenage Fashion Model, the Brunette Bubble Cut, the Twist N Turn, the Malibu, the Superstar Barbie, Barbie and the Rockers! So adorable!!! I was able to get it for me and for my nieces who at that time played with the Barbie Mini B. (in Italy they were distributed as Barbie Petite I think). And yet they released a Barbie loves Jonathan Adler (the doll comes with miniature accessories inspired by real pieces including an elegant side table, a lamp, three vases with original patterns, a lacquered tray and a "mirror" with the silhouette of Barbie, all in pink, black and/or or white) and the matching Barbie Loves Jonathan Adler Room Pack featuring a pink sofa with white trim and matching pillows. They are so adorable and I was able to get them. What good times those were! The 60th and 65th anniversary dolls were very disappointing to me. About the honorable mentions I would also add the Billions of Dreams and the Pink Splendor, without forgetting the wonderful Gold Jubilee 😍 (one of my holy grails) designed by Carol Spencer for the 35th anniversary (and with her golden autograph on the back of the doll ) and the 40th anniversary Crystal Jubilee Barbie. If I could choose 3 reproductions, I would love a Quick Curl Barbie with style able hair, the Hawaiian Superstar Barbie, and the Ken Superstar. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
The first reproduction of a Barbie is a Montgomery Wards reproduction of the first Barbie. They also had Sweet 16 Barbie for her 16th anniversary. Unpopular opinion I'm not a fan of the holiday Barbies with the Superstar face mold. The best is 2009. The best anniversary doll is the Generation of Dreams her dress is a must-have.
It's a good idea for a video. I have 35th anniversary Barbie blond and from 97 holiday Barbie. She is my holy grail doll. I wish I've bought proudly pink, then she was in stores. Don't yet have any birthday dolls. Can't believe I couldn't get Sapphire silkstone doll. I want the 40th and 45th anniversary Barbie. I have Tracy🥰 and I wish to add wedding day Barbie. Holiday hostess want them all❤ 50th anniversary Barbie dolls want all of them and reproduction they made that year🎉🥰🩷
The dolls that need reproduction in my opinion are Pink and Pretty, Western Winking, and Totally Hair. The fashionista version of Totally Hair was a total insult. With Pink and Pretty, they need to make her with multiple outfit options like she was back in the day. The Western Winking needs an updated mechanism that will stand the test of time. And Totally Hair - well Mattel just needs to get back to having dolls that have long, quality hair.
The Fashionista version of Totally Hair Barbie was disappointing, but the Totally Hair Ken was a huge let down. The sculpt is quite handsome and the doll exudes personality, but he should've had real hair, not molded! The original, who had two different face sculpts, had real hair. He was a cutie.

Also that 50th anniversary extravaganza year was so EPIC. Every collector doll marked with the "50th Anniversary" was top-notch. Even the playline versions of Day to Night and Superstar Barbie. Good times 🥲🥲🥲 sad I couldn't afford any of them except the iconic Then & Now Barbie in the modernised black/white bathing suit 🖤💖

What a wonderful year 2009 was!
For Barbie's 50th birthday, many celebratory dolls were released.
In addition to those you mentioned (I have almost all of them, except the afro 50th anniversary and the repros of the teacher, the astronaut, the American girl and the bride), Mattel released a "Since 1959" series in the Silkstone line that included the Debut (caucasian & afro), the Stunning In The Spotlight, the Southern Belle, the Parisienne Pretty and the Gal On The Go: all magnificent!!! (so different from the very poor celebratory line they did with fashionistas for the 65th anniversary).
I have the Debut caucasian and the wonderful Stunning In The Spotlight.
And in the 2009 Mattel also released a Barbie My Favorites Mini B. Time Capsule gift set featuring the original Teenage Fashion Model, the Brunette Bubble Cut, the Twist N Turn, the Malibu, the Superstar Barbie, Barbie and the Rockers! So adorable!!! I was able to get it for me and for my nieces who at that time played with the Barbie Mini B. (in Italy they were distributed as Barbie Petite I think).
And yet they released a Barbie loves Jonathan Adler (the doll comes with miniature accessories inspired by real pieces including an elegant side table, a lamp, three vases with original patterns, a lacquered tray and a "mirror" with the silhouette of Barbie, all in pink, black and/or or white) and the matching Barbie Loves Jonathan Adler Room Pack featuring a pink sofa with white trim and matching pillows. They are so adorable and I was able to get them. What good times those were!
The 60th and 65th anniversary dolls were very disappointing to me.
About the honorable mentions I would also add the Billions of Dreams and the Pink Splendor, without forgetting the wonderful Gold Jubilee 😍 (one of my holy grails) designed by Carol Spencer for the 35th anniversary (and with her golden autograph on the back of the doll ) and the 40th anniversary Crystal Jubilee Barbie.
If I could choose 3 reproductions, I would love a Quick Curl Barbie with style able hair, the Hawaiian Superstar Barbie, and the Ken Superstar.

The first reproduction of a Barbie is a Montgomery Wards reproduction of the first Barbie. They also had Sweet 16 Barbie for her 16th anniversary. Unpopular opinion I'm not a fan of the holiday Barbies with the Superstar face mold. The best is 2009. The best anniversary doll is the Generation of Dreams her dress is a must-have.

The dolls that need reproduction in my opinion are Pink and Pretty, Western Winking, and Totally Hair. The fashionista version of Totally Hair was a total insult. With Pink and Pretty, they need to make her with multiple outfit options like she was back in the day. The Western Winking needs an updated mechanism that will stand the test of time. And Totally Hair - well Mattel just needs to get back to having dolls that have long, quality hair.
There was a 25th anniversary reproduction of Totally Hair Barbie in 2017.

The Fashionista version of Totally Hair Barbie was disappointing, but the Totally Hair Ken was a huge let down. The sculpt is quite handsome and the doll exudes personality, but he should've had real hair, not molded! The original, who had two different face sculpts, had real hair. He was a cutie.
