We saw this happen at a state fair once. The one little chick was not doing well and the others kept pecking at it. All the kids were crying. The staff had to come and remove the sick chick.

I'm JUST catching up! (been SO BUSY & BEHIND in the garden) We usually take them out of the incubator once they look dry & have the mini-brooder ready and heated starting the day before "IN-CASE".....of course, it's been in hatching several groups to figure out what works for us...
opening the eggs is tempting!!! (the chicks i helped were always weaker than the ones that i did not) We put them on paper towels the first 3-5 days and we give them vitamin electrolytes water only for the first 24 hours before feed (helps reduce poopy butt- w/un-medicated feed also).....I LOVE hearing the kids react!!!!!.... Did that last little guy have wry neck?

      Hey love ❤️
      I completely understand!!
I was planning to do paper towel this next hatch seems like a cheaper option & better for their feet!!! I read that's best for ducks.
The video dosnt show the time stamps or all the details but I was opening once per day to add water so I took chicks out at that time.
Great idea about being ready early because some chicks come at 19 days and I didnt know that. I learned so much and I am so grateful for the experiences!! I decided I wanted to continue incubating. I want to learn more and fine tune the loose ends. I also decided out of the 4 incubators I have I really like 2 the most ... Anyways hugs & thanks for watching love ❤️
I will try electrolytes next time thanks for the tip!
