I put a capo at the 5th fret of my Baritone uke and try to play your great lessons. You are the best teacher and player. I'm 84 and still learning. Thanks everso from Arizona.
Stu, I'm just beginning to explore your Zen offerings, but having tossed about on the sea of online uke offerings for a while now (mainly You Tube based), I am feeling most comfortable with your style. You don't hurry, your fret positioning demos are very clear, and I appreciate your gentle spirit. I have happily joined your Patreon community. The extra material coming my way as a result, giving me all the tools I need for each song, will enable me to make progress at long last (instead of fumbling about. Mind you, at 72 I'm a fumbler anyway!). Well done!
I’m so glad to hear from you! Some say TH-cam is not a very good classroom… But I think it depends on the environment that the video creates. In the future I’ll be offering more of a fully fledged online course with a clearer and fully laid out curriculum for different subjects. Congratulations on making it to 72… I hope I’m that lucky 🍀😊 Keep on enjoying your practice 😎
Hey there! For step 2 and 3 is the strumming down down up down? and down up down up down up down? Also I am having trouble with my fingers getting caught on the strings during strumming? I am a complete beginner :D Thank you for the great video help!
Dance with my uke. Hmmmm.....I feel a gig additive comin' on! LOL! Thank you, Stu! Stupid question: would this work on "regular" waltzes like Moon River?? Love to you and the family!
Dance me to the end of love (great 3 chord jazz tune) Yes, It should work...change it up a bit & see what works...the feel is a little different for Moon River … It's more of a slow 6/8 12/8 feel that's how I would play it....
I've been playing the uke for a few months, and my chording isn't too bad, but my timing seriously sucks. When i play alone, I think I sound pretty good, but when I play in a group, I'm way off. I have been searching for song sheets that haven't the strum pattern above the words, thinking that might help. I play with a group of beginners, and out of that group, I practice the most and have the least results....lol. Any suggestions 😢😊
Listen to lots of music. Be a teenager with a stereo again. Get up and move, tap your foot to the beat, etc...starts to feel the rhythm on a primal level...be a counting detective as you listen and groove.
Strum lightly… Just brush the air there just happens to be strings in the way… I cover this and lots of other videos so hope to watch some other ones from this channel thanks so much!
It's better explained in the video...D D DU...Thanks & I hope you'll subscribe to keep in the loop of when I post for more videos like this one :). th-cam.com/users/ukulelezen
No, I’ve never had a single music class which will become obvious by my question. Why is it 3/4? Where does the 4 come into play? Why is it not 3/3? I’m sorry for such a basic question.
Actually, it's a great question & I should have made it clearer. 😬 In a time signature, the number on top is the number of beats per measure, and the number on the bottom is the kind of note that receives the beat. So, the "4" means that a 1/4 note is getting the beat. Ex: in 3/8 time would be three beats/measure with an 8th note getting the beat...and so on.
