Anybody who likes this but doesn't really know Descendents NEEDS to watch FILMAGE: THE STORY OF THE DESCENDENTS. And then thank the drummer for all the songs being so good.
Nav Boro It's just a stage of life that every teenager in some way or another experiences. We just found it better to process in punk rock form. There are lots of other songs, whether old and new, in different categories that really all appeal to teenagers, from 80s stuff to pop music today.
I'm lonely today, won't you come out to play When I'm with you all the world goes away Your smile and your eyes, they keep me alive Your voice is a bell that massages my mind And it make me wonder And it makes me sad And it makes me nervous And it makes me mad Because I think about you every night and day And when I could have asked I let it slip away I've got to get to know you, but I'm so afraid Well it's so hard to be a friend and be in love this way Oh talk to me please, you've brought me to my knees Only your words melt my twenty year freeze I've known you so long I've known all along But suddenly my thoughts of you are so strong Because I wonder if I'm more than just a friend Did I really see a fire - or just inside my head Sometimes I know you just want me to go away Well it's so hard to be a friend and be in love this way Karen may I see your blue eyes Karen may I tell you tonight That is makes me wonder Songwriters: Milo Aukerman
God damn this brings back memories... I think most of us found ourselves in a situation like this in high school. Milo & Bill were truly speaking for all of the underdogs!!! Amazing stuff...
I remember around a year or two ago I felt this song. But now I do kinda wish I felt it again. Something frustrating about not remembering what love feels like.
For all of you wondering about the Smiths, this is an excerpt from an old interview: EI: Are there any old bands you used to listen to, but are embarrassed to admit to it? Milo (singer): Oh yeah, we went through a little Smiths thing. That's like a guilty pleasure thing for me. There's a lot of guilty pleasures like Cheap Trick that I was really into. You know, In Color was another one. I wish this song would get more attention and be played live sometimes, it's one of their very best. I love everything this band has done but sometimes I wish they would have pursued the kind of post-punk/indie pop direction they had on this album instead of what they did on Enjoy!
cardigansarecool I agree nothing to be embarrassed about liking the smiths. I listen to loads of hard-core but always crack out the smiths and stone roses from time to time.
cardigansarecool Same. But one thing Milo Goes To College and IDWTGU have that the later albums don't is Tony Lombardo. He and Frank Navetta wrote a lot of the earlier songs which I prefer. The cool think is before Frank passed away he recorded a bunch of original songs. Also, Tony did to and Bill added the drums. In an interview Tony said this songs are how Descendents would have sounded if the original members stayed together after the IDWTGU album. Something to look forward to.

I used to have a crush on a girl named Karen and I was freaked out listening to this for the first time, because its great when a song describes a situation you're going through almost down to a T, but to even get the girls name the same? Whoa!
I'm lonely today, won't you come out to play When I'm with you all the world goes away Your smile and your eyes, they keep me alive Your voice is a bell that massages my mind And it make me wonder And it makes me sad And it makes me nervous And it makes me, oh so mad Because I think about you every night and day And when I could have asked I let it slip away I've got to get to know you, but I'm so afraid Well it's so hard to be a friend and be in love this way Be in love this way Be in love this way Oh talk to me please, you've brought me to my knees Only your words melt my twenty year freeze I've known you so long I've known all along But suddenly my thoughts of you are so strong And it make me wonder And it makes me sad And it makes me nervous And it makes me, oh so mad Because I wonder if I'm more than just a friend Did I really see a fire - or just inside my head Sometimes I know you just want me to go away Well it's so hard to be a friend and be in love this way Be in love this way Be in love this way Karen may I see your blue eyes Karen may I tell you tonight That is makes me wonder

dominic parker i just discovered The Cry thanks to you, they sound like a mix of The Cure and The Smiths... I’m enjoying it, another recommendation? Thanks.
@Shawnd8085 Haha that's awesome dude, I'm only 20 but been a fan of the descendents for a few years now and they're probably my favorite band of all time. =)
does the beginning of this song remind anyone else of the arctic monkeys? every time i hear the beginning i think of the arctic monkeys : / ........descendents r better though B-)
that guitar solo might actually be the most wholesome sound i've ever heard
Anybody who likes this but doesn't really know Descendents NEEDS to watch FILMAGE: THE STORY OF THE DESCENDENTS. And then thank the drummer for all the songs being so good.
Fun fact bill stevenson (the drummer) is also in a band called black flag and they make really good music
@dipsyshit471 you say this as if black flag isn't one of the biggest punk bands of all time.
I'd like to imagine the Descendents being a bunch of teenagers in adult form, because their songs are spot on on teenage romance and struggles.
Nav Boro

@@johnspencer1314 Exactly
I love how this sounds like something Johnny Marr would’ve written, such a great underrated song. Fantastic band!!!!!
That last verse at 2:08 is so damn catchy, it's one of my favorite pieces of music ever.

IT’S SO HARD TO BE A FRIEND AND BE IN LOVE THIS WAY.

This song appeared in my life in the right moment, when I felt the very same way. This is so cool! Thanks!
I'm lonely today, won't you come out to play
When I'm with you all the world goes away
Your smile and your eyes, they keep me alive

And it makes me mad
Because I think about you every night and day

Oh talk to me please, you've brought me to my knees
Only your words melt my twenty year freeze
I've known you so long I've known all along

5 months ago, I was here feeling this song in my heart. 5 months later, I'm back with the same feeling. I'm such a fool for love.
As we all are pal
Absolutely! I found the Descendents when I was 13, got me through some real rough spots. I'm 33 now, and they still affect me the same way.
You’re 39 now. How’s it going. ?
So, at 43, do you still dig this or have your kids pounded Demi Lo-fucking-Vato into your DNA by now?
@@heisenberg6334I bet he’s living like a docta!!
They're all great! give "Good good things" a listen, one of my favorites!
God damn this brings back memories... I think most of us found ourselves in a situation like this in high school. Milo & Bill were truly speaking for all of the underdogs!!! Amazing stuff...

Who's Ronda?
You know, the "Ronda", it's sorta sharp with long, pointy-things on one side and mostly sponge-like on it's underside.
Sounds a lot like Bad Religion

the chord progressions. make them more noisy and up the tempo by about 10 and theres the formula.
