Renting an apartment in Edinburgh in 2023

- I arrived to UK in September, and immediately started to look for a flat to rent.
But in the beginning I could not even get a viewing!
Why?
The housing situation in Edinburgh is dramatic. More and more students coming every year to study here and there is not enough students accommodations to fit them. They start to compete with professionals, many of which are coming for work from abroad or from other cities.

I have rented 6 different properties in Edinburgh between 2007 and 2015, at that time it was fairly swift and cheap around 450£ for 1 bedroom flat in a good area. It's crazy what is now happening in UK's renting sector.

Tourism and Airbnb has destroyed Edinburgh. I lived there for 20+ years, but moved away 5 years ago to Glasgow. Best decision I ever made.

I absolutely love the city, my job, everything...
But the housing really pisses me off...
Still looking for a place to settle...
I'm like why doesn't the council put a limit to the UoE on how many students it can accept...
Normal people need a place to stay as well...

They don't need to invest in updating their websites when the demand is so high that they still have no issue finding tenants.
