    There are so many wonderful episodes of insight . This may possibly be the greatest. I truly think God breathed on the writers of this story .

    Like many people posting here, I used to watch this, and had forgotten how good it was. As a nonbeliever, I wonder: what ever happened to this kind of faith-based intelligence and wit? Was it Jerry Falwell? Pat Robertson? Jim and Tammy Faye? Somewhere during the weighty eighties we went from thoughtful discourse on faith issues to the clown car that is the current culture of conspicuous Christianity.

    I'm with the atheists. I used to like and look forward to watching the 'Insight' productions in the 70s. I was always impressed with the writing and in those days I was religiously inclined. I hope to find all of the Insight programs on TH-cam eventually and I certainly think they are some of the best apologetic material ever made - but then I could just be being nostalgic.

    • @namesameasu
      @namesameasu  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Mark Lucas For me, my atheism was like mistaking the commonplace for reality. For instance, just because I was sitting behind a computer, I would start to think that my brain works the same way, ignoring the fact that computers don't do synthetic functions, they rely solely on representations, etc.

      Thanks for your response but I wish you had said more. I'm not altogether sure what you were trying to say. I loved Insight as a developing kid and I was very impressed with how well it was written and acted. I was especially impressed with the power of its spiritual messages.

    • @namesameasu
      @namesameasu  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've been all around the gamut of atheist/theist/agnostic. I've experienced every one of these points-of-view at one time in my life, and have later found something at fault and of praise with every position. I was just referring to a fault I had with atheism, but I also like the typically humanistic side of it. But, I too, have always respected this show. So, same here. This episode is one of my favorites of the series.

    • @jeprice08
      @jeprice08 ปีที่แล้ว

      I reminded of the time when they nailed Jesus to the cross and I think Jesus said, "Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do." Just like this situation here when they beat up God at the end. They didn't know what they were doing. I think it was when he said he wasn't going to press charges and meant that that they realized he was the Almighty God. Anybody else would've likely pressed charges.

    Thanks for putting this on for us. I was trying to track down a show from January 1980 about a young boy in a hospital who dies of a terminal illness and the others learn from his bravery and their sadness about it. I know there was another serial on Sunday mornings in 1980 so I'm not sure if it was an "Insight" episode. Is there any chance you or the Paulists have a copy of that episode too?

    Now, I don't claim to be perfect. I'm not, but I'd like to get something off of my chest if I may. It's about the prosecuting attorney, Kay Durban, played by Marcia Rodd. The trouble with the prosecuting attorney is that she is a bigot. That's right, a bigot. She asks questions to God and he answers them, but the problem is either she's not listening to them (She's not even listening to herself when she speaks.) or they're not the answers that she wanted. She claims that she's too intelligent for all of this fiddle-faddle. Well, that may be true, but is she really intelligent enough to know when to listen to something that could be the truth and when not to listen to something that could really be a lie? During the questioning, she unintentionally peeled off some of her skin and showed what was inside of her and she's not alone, other people (one, in particular) have done that too, showing God to be the superior one. She said that she'd like to believe that there is good in the world, but claims she has far too much intelligence for it. Does she really or is she, in truth, a hypocrite? She and people like her can do some good in this world. Now, yes, it's not her problem, but she can help solve it. We all of us can help solve it if it was what we really want, if we want it bad enough, because if we just sit there and do nothing but put the blame on the Almighty, not only does the problem go unsolved, but we become part of it. In the end, I feel nothing for her but pity. Seriously...and that goes for the guy who at the end said, "What's going on?"

    This entire court procedure only makes sense if you believe the truth of 1 Timothy 4:10, 1 John 2:2, Hebrews 7:3,24,25
    and 1 Cor 15:22-28.
    That God is the saviour of all men: even of the demons after their punishment acording to the parable of the ungreatful servant in Matthew 18:21-35 which affirms, including those postponed by and subjected to disbelief after the great millenial Kingdom has served its purpose.
    Note that Christs highpriesthood is not "eternal" in a modern sense: but established for a purpose according to the meaning of the Greek word PANTELES and dienekes. Which derrive their meaning from "TELOS":fully: "until fullfillment" and "dienekes": perpetually [until accomplished]. Therefor Christ is a saviour according to the word "PANTELES": which to any Greek would have meant "until >all [creatures]< are completly perfected". This is why 1 Cor 15:22-28 speaks of God being PANTA en PASSIN: ALL in ALL after the Kingdom has done what Christ foretold in Luke.
    "And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God? 21It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the >whole< was leavened."
    The >whole< (pas/pan) includes all of creation: also the fallen who will pay for a while and then be restored.

    The jury would have found this guy guilty as charged w/death as punishment! The 'forgiveness' shown would not have been sufficient for a not guilty verdict! But the childish idea of any deity intervening in the lives of humankind challenges our credulity!

    • @namesameasu
      @namesameasu  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Wayne Walczak Well, if they found Him guilty, then they would be admitting that He's God (otherwise, how would he have been culpable?), and if He was God, then the death penalty would be in vain. Why? Because "God's" an eternal being.
      "But the childish idea of any deity intervening in the lives of humankind challenges our credulity!"
      ... not if God is ingrained in our very being.

    • @waynewalczak8681
      @waynewalczak8681 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rational Belief In God "if god is ingrained in our very being"? This statement demonstrates irrationality and could be considered a serious mental issue; thinking a mythical figure exists without evidence is a step away from clinical insanity. BTW, since we know a big bang occured, an eternal god did not!

    • @namesameasu
      @namesameasu  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A mental universe isn't exactly a baseless claim. Read up on Leibniz, Stuart Hameroff, Roger Penrose, Cristof Koch, Galen Strawson, Peter Russell, Richard Conn Henry to name a few. To stretch that idea into a hypothesis that a higher mind plays a factor here doesn't seem to qualify as "insane," unless that's a term you commonly use for anyone who disagrees with you. Lastly, the "big bang" and the notion of a "creator" aren't mutually exclusive. For instance, it's just as consistent to believe that the big bang was created as it is to believe that space-time emerged from spaceless and timeless energy. In fact, the former claim would cover two mysteries, if true (mind and cosmology) whereas the latter just covers one.

    This is gross - I thought Jesus was a Hebrew ?! Meaning he was WHITE! he was fair and hazel eyes.
    the truth is - Christ didn't come to save the world NOW ---- IT WAS FUTURE. CORRUPT MEN WIL NOT READ THE SCRIPTURES .
    THEY WIILL NOT HEAR AND WILL NOT PREACH THE TRUTH - HOPE IS FUTURE - NOT NOW.
