I remember that they showed us this episode on my Confirmation retreat. It absolutely scared me to death! But very clever and top notch acting and writing. It made a big impression on me 36 years ago and it remains with me.
Were we blessed to grow up back then? Man, TV shows were less in quantity, but there was so much more quality than there is today! I'm glad TH-cam is around to bring the past shows, which still have relevance, to this day and age!
An FBI agent, Archie Bunker, Dr Huer from Buck Rogers, and Sarek, Capt John Christopher, Zarabeth, and Dr. Ann Mulhall from Star Trek-TOS. Sounds like a rocking funeral.
@@mashah1085 oh forgive me. I didn't realize it was exclusively Star Trek things you were mentioning. This is a pretty wild piece of television for 1969. He'll, for now!
James e. Mosely thanks for opening up a story people really must hear and recognized that there is a sprint watching over us and tells us he's here and hell reign for today, great casting. thanks insight.
This episode I love because it tells of the demise of the unbelievers. "For Whom the Bell Tolls". By Ernest Hemingway. This should have been the title of this episode. Excellent cast and purpose of man's egos.
Other than for a couple cuss words I did like it. It reminds me how sad it is for men to live without God! I need to look up a sermon by the late Rev. Troy R. Brady which he preached around 1966 or 67. Where some liberal clergymen had a funeral for God! God is NOT and He is still alive. And I still preach His Gospel and read His Word. And yes He still answers prayer. I definitely want watch and rewatch this one.
Roger Perry was the only main character who wasn't an immoral, mean-spirited person. When the others looked into the coffin and saw their own corpses, what they were seeing, figuratively, was a manifestation of their own spiritual death. Roger was the only good soul amongst them, so he didn't see the same image of himself. That's just my interpretation, and I don't consider you ignorant for not drawing a conclusion. These episodes are surreal to say the least, and they lend themselves to many different interpretations. I hope this was helpful.
Governments want to be that thing. They want to be worshipped and obeyed just like all the Pharaohs, Emperors, Kings of old. We currently call them President, Premier or Prime Minister!
Just because you're an ATHEIST, which means you don't believe in a god and therefor don't worship a god, doesn't mean you worship sex, power, money etc. GEEZE! How many times do we have to tell you people this? I have purpose in life without a god. My purpose is to revel in reality...in the world...in different cultures, music, food, literature, science, the cosmos, relationships with others, hobbies, passions, my career.
Your career IS money and power. Science is power, and equally flawed as the concept of a God. It's worshiped like a God, but just like a God it falls short of the mark more often than not. Relationships with others can and does include sex. Seems pretty much like you're still worshiping the same tired shit. What's pathetic is that you're still at the point of NEEDING to worship, or "revel" as you put it in some abstract idea or thing. God is just replaced by something else. The priest was right about one thing, man is a base animal that NEEDS to worship. We need to get the fuck beyond that instead of just replacing God with something else and then acting all sophisticated because we dumped off sky daddy for another daddy somewhere else. Apparently you're still caught in the cycle.
Anything treasured above the Creator GOD is an idol. It's what one lives for. One's own self can very much be one's idol. Living to please self, above GOD. GOD exists whether it's believed by anyone or not.
Maybe we all killed him inside 16.49. .. it’s a bit like if you fell out of love with your sweet heart ❣👧. and had a big argument and said “ you are dead to me “ would she accidentally die ? Of course not , but in your heart she is just that 💀
I daresay that atheist denied Christ more than three times. I always wondered why atheists make denying God their raison d'etra? Why the need to convert others to their beliefs? Does this make atheism A religion of sorts. Satanism is and they have their own rituals. I believe some state houses have Satanists artifacts. Are they choosing Satan over God.. Let's admit that we all know nothing. Leonardo, the greatest genius to ever live, IMO, said this on his deathbed, "I know nothing". Time we all admit that. Living a good and decent life should be enough.
I just to comment about this episode should be accountable to won a Emmy, Peabody and for UNICEF or even an Oscar. Carroll O'Connor should have stayed in this show instead of racist Archie bunker. this could open to the test of time for everyone must watch this classic. the characters and the plot made it solely clear to why man try to do so stupid to god. if they don't love him then they should die. thanks insight for your cause.
This was an ensemble so the cast was always changing. Also, Archie was meant as a commentary on such close minded men (and how they can grow and change over the years)
I really enjoyed this series when it.was originally broadcast. Unfortunately, though, the very idea of god is superfluous. Everything is the same whether he exists or not. God fulfills no real purpose
GOD created the heavens and Earth, and all within. No one would exist without Him. And all will stand individually before Him some day to give account.
Finally, after all these years, here it is! Thank you so much for downloading this episode!

Great cast, great script; pushing the boundaries on what television could dare to achieve.
"My tomb is empty. YOURS IS NOT." -- God. Fair warning.
I've always enjyed this show since I was a little kid getting up a 6AM on Sunday Mornings. Thank You so very much for posting. I love it.

Don't forget that Diana Muldaur was also Dr. Pulaski on TNG and Tim O'Connor was on at least one episode of Wonder Woman
I love that everyone in this all-star cast gets a chance to shine in different scenes.
I’m here for Diana Muldaur
Wonderful cast and a great episode from a fantastic series!! Great to see Carroll O'Connor and Tim O'Connor in the same episode! No relation.
What an incredible cast and episode. I feel like inserting "God's Not Dead" at the end of it.
Brilliant. What a superb cast. Many thanks for bringing this back and still so relevant today.
Excellent episode! Great cast! 4 Star Trek alumni.

Powerful still 2022.

Wow this is a story about 2021 from back when it was still legal to be honest on TV. What a cast!!!
Diana Muldaur was a goddess.

Well God may be dead but Diana Muldaur is quite alive
That's a good episode and casts

@@billmooney3033 , That's what I also interpreted.

Of the principals yes. Clearly Tomas saw an empty coffin. I don't know if Anna looked.
Fascinating episode with many layers to the plot, albeit one with some unlikable characters.
Thanks for watching--and yes, this episode has some real winners...;)
Wasn't unlikeability the point, to represent all the false prophets of sex, power and greed to turn us away from God and other people.
You'll have to try your very best to carry on as intelligent, reasonable, principled and civilized human beings. God would want all of you to do so.

Attacks both sides: mocks believers in God, but also portrays atheists as immoral intellectual elitists.
