@@caroline-pm4mo nor am i, i just watch bob ross a lot and he's explained it in some episodes. the entire method that bob ross uses only works because of liquid white, or 'magic white', as he used to call it in earlier episodes. the liquid white lets you blend colors on the canvas.

Since painting is a skill and not something you're born with it takes effort to get good at it, no matter how slow or fast you are at learning how to do it better, so it's not good to fixate on being talented or not with it ;) Projects can come out horribly for talented people too, it's how we all learn to do it better next time.

When you know this is going to be bad when Morgan bought acrylic paint instead of oil. Acrylic paint dries quite quickly into an almost plastic like material while oil paint takes a long time to dry allowing for blending and moving the colors. Lol

I hate to be this person but the liquid white is not for the canvas to be white, its to blend the colors that are gonna go after it, so that everything looks put together. Also, he uses oil paint.
I was cringing lol, I followed a Bob Ross tutorial and it turned out decent, but it's the hardest thing I've ever done. It took me 3 hours to follow a 20 minute tutorial lol😂😂
First of all they used acrylic paint which dries fast and doesn't blend. And Bob is using oil paint which takes a long time to dry and blends very smoothly on to the canvas. But love you guys❤❤❤
I wouldn't say acrylics dry "very fast." Acrylics take several hours to completely dry, where oil takes weeks. Besides oil being thicker and using different solvents, the two paints typically behave very similarly. I think acrylics are a much better alternative for beginners.
I had no idea bob Ross used oil paint haha 😊 and I also think better brushes would make it easier for them as well. Ive seen someone use frosting and the right brushes and it turned out amazing!!

Bob Ross used a wet on wet technique for his paintings, that’s why his backgrounds feel so seamlessly blended, it’s incredibly difficult to achieve that effect with an acrylic so over all I think they did a pretty good job with what they had 🤷♀️
i think they wouldve been better if you used oil paint, bob only uses oil (very different from acrylic), so if youre using acrylic follow an acrylic tutorial haha

Dancingsushi911 liquid white doesn’t dry (or takes a lot longer to) because it’s oil based and has a lot higher ratio of oil to the actual pigment so putting it down on the canvas before you apply any of the other paints allows it to blend any of the other paints you put on top of it because the canvas is wet from the liquid white.
I cringed when you guys said that you don't need liquid white. lol the liquid white WHICH IS ALL SUPPOSED TO BE OIL PAINT NOT ACRYLIC, it helps the colors blend

This is true, another thing you could do if you don’t wanna spend a lot of money on oil paint you can dampen the canvas with water, it helps

Dancingsushi911 liquid white doesn’t dry (or takes a lot longer to) because it’s oil based and has a lot higher ratio of oil to the actual pigment so putting it down on the canvas before you apply any of the other paints allows it to blend any of the other paints you put on top of it because the canvas is wet from the liquid white.
Everyone skips it and it hurts a little bit when I see it. Prime your canvas please.
