Hahaha this was great😂 You are so entertaining my friend, awesome video! I would never leave a 1 star review either, if it was that bad I'm just never telling anyone I read it😂
I agree with the pacing as you pointed out in Empire of the Vampire and to those who DIDN'T keep reading - I get the "Women in the Refrigerator" trope (I'm sick of that too) - they miss out on some great female characters. As for the italics thing - I could see it annoying me but NOT enough to affect the star rating. But to each their own lol.
I dnf'd a book at 3 pages because there wasn't any distinction between text, thoughts or spoken words. No quotation marks or italics anywhere. I remember thinking the italics in Sword of Kaigen were a bit much, but I still gave it 5*
😂 I love this 😂😂😂🤣 I gave 1 star once in my life it was for “the bee sting” and it was because the author decided to be all new age and half way through decided to attack my brain by taking out all the grammar.
The person talking about italics makes me think of the SNL skit where Ryan Gosling is obsessed with the fact that the avatar movie uses papyrus as the font for the logo, and no one listens to him 🤣
As soon as I saw the title I knew Sword of Kaigen would be in there. Personally, I was very very disappointed by SoK for many and various reasons, that eventually led me to give it a generous 2 stars out of 5. But at least I read it all carefully and have valid reasons with proper arguments for why I didn't like it and think it's not better than 2 out of 5. Giving 1 star ratings to DNFed books, especially so early, with just that one reasoning is simply stupid and ignorant. In general, I think the 2-star reviews often have better arguments and make more sense than the 1-star ones (often written by ignorant trolls).
The most entertaining 1-star reviews to me are the ones where you basically agree with all their points (however ridiculously they may be stated), yet you still happily continue on your own hype train because you just didn't care about the flaws lol. Also, ban the italics
Hahaha I feel like these characters are the less mandude mandudes I’ve read… or I guess I should say watch since I’ve only read the first book. But in the movies, they are so good at being vulnerable… so I say they are NOT mandudes 😂
Judge me if you want. If you don't like LoTR, then you can't be a fantasy fan😎. Jk lol, Some people have different tastes and prefer to have their novels go at different so I understand. Now kindly raise your hands so I can begin to to write down a list of people who should be drawn and quartered.😂
You know what is worse? Some people 1 star bombing works by authors of colour that didn't even come out or even have an actual release date. For example "The King Must Die" by Kemi Ashing - Giwa.
LOTR is slow-paced... It is not! I read trilogy in a week. It wassoo much fun to read that book. . . . Try reading classic Quiet Flows the Don the very first chapter starts with 10 pages of a FIELD BEING DISCRIBED. Soooo boring and so so so SLOW AND DISCRIPTIVE 😭... and it is just 0,5% of the book 🥱
To your last question on italics, anything that distracts from the story is wrong. I wasn't bothered by it in Sword of Kaigen, but as a rule, your formatting should serve to improve the experience and disappear into the background. If you are thinking about the formatting at all once you're reading, it's a problem.
Sam Gamgee is a bad dude. He looks to persecute the wretched and weak in order to maintain his false idea of his place in the world. He would hold people down rather than pull people up so he doesnt have to accept he himself is wretched.
I also felt that Lord of the Rings had too much mandudes. It gets a pass because it's so old, but it makes me so sad. Imagine if the fellowship had just two women in it? It would have changed the amount of women in fantasy over the following decades
I have so much hatred for Empire of the Vampire. Hated the tone, hated the way the book dealt with its female characters. I'm pretty confused about people who like it, honestly. But I can see it, if the wiring style worked with you

I listened to “Sword of Kiagan” on audible… I honestly didn’t notice the italics that much…
😂😂
Yeah, thinking back... 😂
😆😆😆
Even worse than italics are the one-star reviews for books that arrived damaged or with poor packaging.
I agree, I hate that, you re reviewing a book/author, not the delivery service!
I had no EoV or EoD problems. I liked them both.

I loved reading LotR when I was younger, but I do have to say following Sam and Frodo's story on the road to Mordor can be a slog.
I am completely on board with "at least Edward Cullen sparkles" no regrets

I guess i must love purple because i never notice 💜 prose 🤷♀️🤦♀️
😂 I consider Edgar Rice Burroughs to be the Grandfather of modern fantasy 😉 but I still wouldn't give Tolkien one star 🤔

Got to love “Mandudes 😂😂
My favorite part of LOTR for sure

I don't know... Aragorn is the most mandude of them all
@@the_fools_tale hahaha yeahhh I guess you’re right!

So, to summerize: They were bored of the rings
