Great thought on turning significance into meaning. I just finished a book by D.A. Carson, "Christ and Culture Revisited", where he discusses the various NT passages pertaining to how the church relates to governing authority. They differ based on book and context. The Church of the West tends to take one 'significance' and make it a hard theological position that is non-negotiable in how the whole church should respond to government. Significance is not about personal interpretation per se but rather about understanding both original and present contexts.

Hi Darryl, I hope you see this message.
I’ve been waiting for a few months to join your Mastery Greek Membership and I haven’t been contacted yet for payment options or any information on how to join. I am really wanting to start as soon as possible. I was wondering if I can test out of the first “beginning Greek” 25 week course? And move on to the the “Reading Greek” course? Please let me know if this is possible. Thanks

I agree that studying should be more than knowing. It needs to be tranforming. Question, in 1 John 2:2
World is Cosmos. What did a 1st century think it meant?

We have places in the New Testament where "all men" refers to every individual, and the word κοσμος is generally used more broadly, so all the people groups is closer. Thanks for watching!

We are not “rejoicing always” bc we are allowing the pre-creation chaos to hold sway in our life to varying degrees. This is what the Torah teaches us, to respect the purpose and categories God has established for every created object, season, and event. We don’t boil a calf in its mother’s milk bc that act bastardizes and perverts the very purpose for which mother’s milk exists. Do not violate (transgress) Divinely ordained categories, and Shalom - divine peace - will reign in our life.

Master Biblical Languages, which Greek Bible should I buy looking for Old and New Testament?

How do you distinguish meaning from significance in French and Spanish? Or, for that matter, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek?

The key question is what did author mean (meaning) not what are the implications of this (significance). So it generally works the same in all languages. Of course there are times when double meanings are implied but these are normally obvious and rare. I hope that helps!

I want to become more like Christ so when I go to seminary and when I go to teach whatever grade level I choose I want to set an example to weather it’s toddlers or if it’s youth
Now I do have a question that some may not know how to answer, but in the Old Testament with their physical dedication to showing the seal or mark of the covenant, how did women do the same?
And would you say that Timothy’s letter to the women being quiet is more just about that church because of their actions or women can’t be pastor in the church
