  • Watch tips on how to install and remove a John Deere AutoConnect mower deck on your John Deere 1 Series tractor. This includes the 54" and 60" mower decks found on the John Deere 1025r, John Deere 1023e, and John Deere 1026r tractors. This is a very similar process to what is done on the John Deere x700 Series of tractors as well, with some minor differences.
    I've tried to provide plenty of close up views to help you identify each step of the removal and reinstallation process so that you can troubleshoot different areas. Typically, removing the mower deck isn't when any problems arise, it is normally when you are reconnecting the AutoConnect mower.

    Another well thought out instructional video. I would add one thing that I haven't experienced but others have told me.
    Put your PTO lever to the rear position so that the Mid PTO can rotate freely in case the gear box shaft moves during
    blade changing or whatever.

    Another tip that I use on my 1025R, is to put the PTO selector lever in Rear PTO only position so that the mid shaft can turn freely during the connection.

    I saved this video to a playlist and have watched it every time I've connected or disconnected my mower deck over the past ~2 years. This time I got stuck thinking the rear locking bar was supposed to be flipping the opposite direction of how it actually does. Cleared that right up watching you flip it back and forth a few times. Thanks for your help!

    Thank you for the detail !!! I'm sure this will be a video revisited in the future for me. The only question I have is what do most folks do with the deck once it is removed? How do they get it in a place that will be out of the way like during the off season? Is it usually hoisted someway like with FEL and taken somewhere else?
    My wife would not be fond of me leaving it in the middle of the driveway. 😉 Thanks again for taking the time to reproduce the video with further detail. It was excellently done.

    I’ve watched both the Deere drive over quick connect model and the Kubota 2680 which is not a drive over type quick connect. I do not see any advantage to the Deere drive over style, But did notice that the Kubota deck mounts more securely by design and if you don’t have a nice flat solid, level area to do this with the Deere could turn into a cursing event plus I hear over time being removed they tend to become even more troublesome, Yes you must get on your back to deal with the pto but it’s not bad and can be done just fine in the yard, I know which way I’m gonna swing on this deal, great video, thxs!

    another tip for making sure the deck is square to the tractor when installing it is when approaching the deck, prior to driving over it, put the tractor in 2wd and bump the deck with the front tires. when both tires touch the deck at the same time, back up a bit, put the tractor in 4wd then drive over.

      Had a couple trials of reconnecting where the tractor pushed the mower to an angle. Building on this tip I moved the mower last inch or two to get it squared up to the wheels. Backed up a couple inches, then went forward. Voila!

    When uninstalling a drive over deck on slick concrete a good tip is to lower it onto a thin rubber mat. this eliminates the tendency of the deck to slide around when trying to reinstall it.

    I didn't buy my last tractor with the mower under the unit and I did inquire about it on the 3032E tractor I got. I already had a separate zero turn mower which I had got from the dealer years earlier so I didn't need the one which goes under the tractor. You gave a good description of how to hook the mower up on that model tractor and remove it.

    Just a couple tips that really help me install/uninstall the deck. Tip for uninstalling: Move the control knob to the double L's. Install: Make sure your female connect on the tractor dropped all the way down before driving over the deck, it’s gravity fed, and may or may not go all the way down, it needs to be down all the way, sometimes I have to reach under the tractor and just pull it down a little. Hope these couple tips that I discovered help someone out there like they did me.😊

    This is a good video - my question is ...I have the 1025R and I want to use my box blade with out worrying about lift the arms and unit underneath. You mention putting them in the lock position. How do you put it in the “lock up” position specifically...that isn’t described for us newbies . Thank you.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, "lock" is simply the highest position on the deck height adjustment knob. So, pretend you wanted to cut your grass on the highest height, then go a notch above. From memory, I think there's a lock symbol on the dial.

    I am not sure if you have ever thought about the possibility of making a video on how to remove an autoconnect deck on a X700 series tractor, and installing a snowblower to the tractor. I am confused on what has to be locked up and what has to be taken off to install the blower this winter. Can you let me know if you are aware of a video on TH-cam that shows this? Or, even better, if you could do a video on it? You do a great job of explaining things! Thanks in advance...

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Russ,
      I'm using an x739 on my lawn at home right now. I have a plow for it as well, but no snowblower. However, you will have to remove that AutoConnect linkage under the tractor in order to connect the long PTO shaft for the snowblower. It isn't exactly like the linkage shown in this video, but it is pretty similar.

    • @russalbright4213
      @russalbright4213 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GoodWorksTractors Thanks so much for the reply! If you are looking for a video to make, showing the proper way to level the mowing deck on your X739 would be awesome. I am sure that would be the same for my X758. I have the 20 bushel material collection system with the Powerflow that I am using this fall for leaf collection, but won't be using it for regular mowing next year. I am sure when you take the powerflow off, the deck will have to be re-leveled in order to cut correctly.

    Nice video. It appears that the AutoConnect is not too difficult to remove for snow thrower attachment which is good. Yesterday I ordered an x754 all wheel steer, 2WD with AutoConnect. The salesman recommended the AutoConnect, but was not certain as to how well it works with 2WD. Can you comment on this. My previous JD tractor had a manual connect which was not too difficult so I am wondering whether this system is worth it.

    So this is my rookie list of items for attaching and removing the mower deck for my 2019 1025r. I have a copy of this in the notes section on my phone.
    To install the mower deck:
    1. Have the mower deck on a level surface with the wheels disengaged (If it is on a slick cement floor place a small car floor mat under each side of the deck for additional traction.)
    2. Raise the mid-linkage arms up with the (black) rockshaft control lever
    3. Having the mid-linkage arms all the way up allows you to now adjust the mower cutting height adjustment knob to the “install” position
    4. Lower mid-linkage arms all the way down with the rockshaft control lever
    5. Visually check to see if the mid-linkage is entirely down, manually pull it down if necessary
    6. Set the power take off (PTO) lever to “Rear PTO Only” to allow the mid PTO to turn freely and engage the mower gear case with minimal resistance
    7. Line up the tractor to be square with the mower deck
    8. Set the tractor to 4 wheel drive, low range transmission, and throttle medium high
    9. With the outside of the left front tire aligned to the mower deck guide bar, slowly drive over the deck
    10. Confirm that the (rear lock tab) or spring loaded silver bar is firmly locked, if not shimmy the deck slightly and manually lock the silver rod
    11. Raise the mower deck all the way up with the rockshaft control lever
    12. Set the mower cutting height by turning the knob to your preferred setting (1” to 4”)
    13. Manually set gage wheel height on all four wheels to your preferred setting and lock
    14. With PTO lever now set to “Mid-PTO” and the mower deck lowered, begin mowing by engaging the dashboard PTO switch
    To Remove The Mower Deck
    1. Select a level location
    2. Raise the mower deck all the way up with the (black) rockshaft control lever
    3. This allows you to set the mower depth knob to the “install” setting
    4. Manually disengage all four gage wheel locks on the mower wheels
    5. Lower the deck all the way down with the rockshaft control lever
    6. Manually release the (rear lock tab) or spring loaded silver bar located near the back of the mower under the tractor by flipping it down
    7. Set the tractor to 4 wheel drive, low range transmission, and throttle at medium high
    8. Slowly back up by aligning the the mower deck guide bar along the outside of the front left tire
    9. Finally, raise the mid-linkage arms up with the rockshaft control lever

      dtman66 you're welcome to come look at the concrete anytime. There's almost always scratches in that area as I take photos there constantly, many times shifting around additional attachments to make a good picture. Yep, good eye. I rotated that around before I delivered to my customer. The rear casters can only practically be installed in one way, but not so for the fronts.

    Hi there just like to know I have a 1025r and the hydraulics lever on the side doesn’t drop the middle cupeling for the mower to attach? Would it be just a manual one ? In other words do they all come with hydraulics much appreciate a response in advance 😊

    Is there an adjustment that can be made to make the rear latches on the deck connect easier? I have a 2022 1025R with the 54D Auto Connect and it's nearly impossible for me to get the rear hooks attached. I have to yank on the deck with all I got to pull it far enough back to get it to latch. It has never latched on its own when driving over it.

    So a not to funny story. I received my 1025R to Ontario and the guy explained all the controls and after watching many instructional videos I thought it would be a cake walk. We have six acres and I bought an RC2048 to cut down the overgrowth and after that the plan was to use the mid mount 60" mower. So I remove the mower no problem and after a couple of days I go to put the mower back on and the auto connect is not operating so I'm muscling it on and cut the lower part of what the Rotary Cutter left figuring it was my fault why the deck wasn't connecting. So I live in Rome Italy and had to head back so I called the dealer and explained the issue and told him I would be back in a few months and have hime pick it up to see why the Auto Connect wasn't functioning and sent pictures of the whole assembly. After I got it back the guy I ordered it with told me they fired the mechanic because he failed to secure the drop down assembly arm that kept it on, so it just hung on the drop bar. All this story to say, I wish I had the video you showed that gives a visual of the whole undercarriage.

    the steps are easy to follow, but does not apply to my 1025r for some reason, when installed, my deck is too far down in front to cut correctly, to raise the front of the deck, it needs to adjust the large nuts at the front bars to raise the front of the deck, which basically locks the deck tight and its impossible to release the two latches at the back , and its impossible to remove the deck, what is wrong?
