I understand why Sanji did it. I just don't approve of it. Beating up your captain and best friend physically and verbally is just being scum, even if you don't mean it. He did it because he himself wasn't. Sanji did it because he thought that was the only way to save everyone and obviously that wasn't true. And of all things that could have happened or what Sanji could have done, people keep telling me this was the only single thing he could do so no one gets killed? What he did could have even been the death of Luffy and Nami. He left them there beaten up (only Luffy) so they would leave him behind, but he should know that Luffy doesn't leave his friends like that and they were in enemy territory so they didn't have a good chance to leave the island just like that. Luffy was not in shape at all after he got beaten up.

He was only lying to himself and after the facade that pudding had broke, the worst of both sides showed itself and he truly was saddened and thankfully, luffy understands sanji more than anyone and allowed him to go back even if on the surface what sanji did was terrible like the way nami took it as an example instead of how luffy understood his decision.
