I became an NCTzen during the Boom era, so it holds a very special place in my heart. The reason why they were only 5 in some parts is Haechan was with 127 for their US/World Tour and probably recorded in parts. So during this time, it wasn't unusual that only 5Dream would perform this. My poor boy was flying in and out of Korea to juggle promotions for both sub-units.
He literally made it back to film the MV and only learned the last part of the choreography by the time filming started. 2019 was the start of his hectic schedule

Because "Boom" came out in 2019, there were only 6 members in NCT-Dream. Mark "graduated" in 2018 from NCT-Dream and he was no longer included in NCT-Dream activities. However, Heechan, who also is a member of NCT-127, was just recovering from an injury, as well as promoting as a member of NCT-127 in the U.S. at this time, so he was only able to participate in part of the MV. That's why you only see all 6 of them at the end. In the beginning of the MV there was only 5 members, but by the end, as you noticed, there are a few scenes with all 6 members.
The whole point of "Boom" is to show how much the Dream members have grown and matured, etc.
I always find it funny that Jisung, who is the maknae of NCT, is the member who is the tallest and the one with the deepest voice. "Boom" is where we see Jisung turn from a boy into a young man.
Boom was during 127’s tour in the USA. So Haechan been flying back and forth promoting with both Dream and 127 simultaneously. That’s why he is not in some of the dance scenes. He records when he’s back.
And yes during Wakey wakey, he was still recovering from his leg fracture so that is why he was sitting down the whole time.
As for “Go” MV. When it first came out, we were all hyped because it actually showed how the Dreamies have grown. They’ve become young adults with a more hardcore sounding music.
Yeah there were only 5 members in some parts of Boom because Haechan was with 127 touring so he could only film some of the mv. Boom is one of my favorites, especially for the choreography, I LOVE how they switched up how the executed the moves like you mentioned from lyrics to beats. Boom is one of my favorite eras bc they look SO good, Chenle's unfortunate cornrows aside, the orange was fantastic, Haechan's hair was to die for and Jeno's blonde was insane. Also at the end of the Boom dance practice Jeno lead the "Yo Dream!" chant which Mark usually leads, which always makes me a little sad, but proud of Jeno at the same time.
Go is also not my favorite, but I love the lyrics of it and I love what it meant at the time. This was the song that switched Dream's concept like 127 did with Touch. It was the first mature concept they had and some people think the switch was too abrupt but it made perfect sense to me. I think of Dream's discography timeline like this Chewing Gum (childhood) -> My First and Last and We Young (adolescence/puberty) -> Go (teenage rebellion) -> We Go Up (coming of age teen) -> Boom (young adult) -> Riding, Hot Sauce, Hello Future (their current state of comfortable maturity and being able to experiment with whatever they want while still being youthful and fun).
I'm glad you're back into NCT's music and I can't wait for the guide reactions! Since we've had some new music updates I think it would be cool if maybe one of the days next week you could check out NCT's features they've done?

- California Love ft Jeno by Donghae comes out the 13th, and there's an mv coming, we just don't know if Jeno will be in it yet

I need Boom era Haechan again he looked SOOO good. Go is actually one of my favourites, not sure why so many didn’t like the song!! Even the aesthetic of the MV was great, it felt like them being rebellious youngsters and then We Go Up was them finally embracing their youth. I love it
Seriously... Haechan forehead takes him from cute squishy baby bear to hot ass grown MAN in an instant... it's pretty wild.
Dive Into You and Hello Future have been giving GO a run for it's money lately, but for whatever reason, it's my favorite Dream song and would be my favorite Dream mv if it wasn't for the fact you BARELY see Renjun throughout it. 😤 However, the MTV Asia Spotlight choreography video for GO really lets him shine and imo the better showing of the choreo. th-cam.com/video/M-xZXR0-mpU/w-d-xo.html
I recommend listening to GO in the car sometime with the volume way up... The deep dark bass, that rise just during Mark's rap and then Haechan's soaring bridge... ugh, so good!
"Go" was one of my favorite title tracks until hello future XD. But for the "Go" Dance practice what you are probably hearing is an echo in the studio, they normally just play the song in the studio and not over top the actual video so you can hear the breathing, footsteps, shouting, also makes it easier to edit since you don't have to sync music with them dancing.
Haechan didn't dance in the mv of Boom because I think he was busy with 127 promotions or preparations, so the day where they were filming the dancing part of the mvs he just wasn't in it and they performed as 5 dream. NCT Dream is built to handle that so it may happen again in the future with SM's piss poor schedule management.
Oh yeah, it is definitely going to happen again in the future. Once live touring is possible again it will be tricky to balance all the demands on Mark and Haechan's time. But a Dream that has to morph and adjust is better than Dream sticking with the graduation concept. There will always be a tension for Mark and Haechan with the success and busy-ness of both units. But I wouldn't want either Dream or 127 to be without them at all.
And 5Dream is very capable of carrying and filling a show if the other two have to be away. Dream will not always have the full line up going forward but that is a trade worth making to get rid of the original graduation concept. The seven of them are just too good together to mess with too much and when chemistry like that happens you have to hold on to it however you can.
And of course there will be other adjustments 127 will have to make when some of the older members have to enlist.
They are such pros and they will manage all the variations well (just like their Super Junior seniors before them :D )
it's also nice pointing out that "Go" was actually Dream's first darker concept! so it was such a surprise for fans when they suddenly showed their rebellious side lol
Go era:
Jisung prolly just turned 16. His birthday is in Feb.
Chenle: his birthday is in Nov, so let's say he's 16 too 😂
Haechan, jaemin, renjun, and jeno were around 17-18 (some hadn't celebrated their 18th birthday 😂 or maybe all of them hadn't. I don't remember the exact date when "go" came out 😂😂)
And finally, Mark. He's still 18 going on 19. It's only fair coz his 19th birthday was pretty far away.

Go was Jaemin's return to dream because after their debut he was on hiatus because he a back injury. So this was a special comeback
Haechan was late to filming the MV because of 127 promotions in the U.S. that’s why he has solo shots and only appeared on the last dance parts.
There's only 5 members present for some of the group dance scenes in the MV because Haechan was on tour with 127 @ the time. Also, he was sitting down in Wakey Wakey because he was healing from a broken leg.
POV: he reacts to "Boom" ' MV, to the dance practise... but still misses "Boom" live ver. (The Dream Show)... and we all know what a chance he missed to get "wrecked-biased" by a specific member during the performance ;-D (hint: his name starts with "Je" and ends with "no" hahaha). I'm pretty sure Haechan was on tour with 127 and could only film for a day that's why he isn't in all the shots of the Boom MV. And Jisung has one of my favorite voices in NCT, he's such a great tone and it's a great contrast to the higher pitched voices of the other vocalists - him harmonizing with Renjun is chefs kiss! I'm so glad he got more confident with his singing and gets more singing parts nowadays.
And yes, Go was the song where 127 and them switched concepts and shook the whole fandom :D it was their third comeback, following their debut Chewing Gum and the two more cutsey songs The First and the Last and We Young, and totally broke with their wholesome youngster image. But it still fit, since GO represents teenage rebellion and shows off their growth.
Dreamies have series of coreo versions means OT5, OT6 or OT7 with 2 members prioritized in other units or injured, they are used to cover other members'parts since after chewing gum era.
The bridge in both these songs are legendary. You should hear some of their lives. GO! in concert is an experience! Thanks for the reaction!!

the video teasers for Go were so good, I even had the audio from them downloaded 😳 I was pleasantly surprised when I saw them, it was the first time they had this kind of concept and also the first time when Dream caught my attention
two of dreams best! jaemins "ice cream" line in boom was trending at all times when it came out, ahh memories. go to me is a masterpiece. seriously one of my favorite kpop songs and mvs of all time. but maybe thats just me, ik its a love or hate song within the fandom. the aesthetic of the mv is my favorite out of any nct mvs as well as the choreo
go was right after we young, so it was DEFINITELY a massive change, really wish i was there to experience it. they were 16-18 in go btw. fun fact jaemin had been inactive in dream because of his injury so nctzens at the time only saw him from chewing gum so to seem him with the go concept all grown up mustve been a shock as well
I never clicked a video faster when I saw this! lol I like how the choreo of Boom is pretty "reserved" at the first two choruses. But at the last one, that's where it was hard-hitting. It made more impact for me-- fast and very synchronized. That's the part that I always look forward to watching when they perform this song on stage.

Someone probably already said that Haechan was touring with 127 in the US during some of "BOOM" filming, and they flew him back and forth. However, Dream has performed a few time as 5 Dream when Haechan and Mark would promote in other places with 127. They have one time where they performed in Dubai, and Lucas was there, and he actually did Mark's part in "Go" which was iconic!
"Go" is my favorite Dream title track, mainly for the subject of this song, it's brilliant! Also this was Jaemin's amazing return after being gone for the previous 2 comebacks. And he ate! Also, my favorite Dream choreo, even though they have crazier ones, and most of them have floor work which is awesome, Jaemin's leg work moment kills it for me!
In 1:05 and 2:23 Because dream had a graduation system in that time and Mark graduated from dream so he was not in dream. And after a while SM canceled the system and mark returned with hot sauce. And also haechan was in the mv but he didnt dance because he was so busy for dancing. The promotional activities for NCT 127’s Superhuman are probably why Haechan wasn’t there . And i love your reactions to nct/wayv as a nctzen. Even its 11pm now in my country i clicked the video. Thanks💚

I decided to join NCT because of "GO".Go is like on my TOP5 . This song is perfect for me.
And yes everyone will feel uncomfortable at the first listening because they were really "angry".if you remember " dreams" Concept of NCT , nct dream were the ones who woke up and they weren't happy.

Haechan is only in some parts of the Boom MV because they filmed it during 127's tour so he could only film some parts. Also they performed Boom (and Ridin') with all 7 members on their Hot Sauce comeback show.
Go is one of my favorite Dream songs! It was the first time they tried a more mature (or just more age appropriate?) concept. Mark's rap in this song is still one of my favorites too!
I fell in love with Go the first time I heard it! Reminds me of their other song, Drippin' 😉 And yes, the video is very loose and that's exactly what the director was going for.

Ah Boom is one of my top 5 favorite Dream songs. Go I didn't really like the first listen but it did grow on me after awhile. And Boom Era Haechan is one of my absolute favorites!!! Pretty sure Haechan was on tour with 127 during Boom. Being in 2 different sub unit is confusing at times cuz if Dream and 127 are doing things around the same time you might not see Mark or Haechan in Dream stuff. Like Dream recently did some live performance and since 127 is promoting Sticker right now Mark and Haechan weren't with Dream during those live stages.

Mark's rap always add that little extra to the song , which makes the song from okay to good or from good to fantastic , I love all his parts in all the songs .

When you get to a guide i highly recommend "a guid to NCT Dream (2021)" by mochihaemjji. All though the softjun one is good, it is a bit outdated, like their 127 ones.

I believe NCT-Dream's "Go" MV was released in March 2018 and this was one of the MVs that was leading up to Mark's graduation. So, Mark was 18 here, Renjun was 17/almost 18, Jeno was 17, Haechan was 17, Jaemin was 17, Chenle was 16 and Jisung had just turned 16.

I loved Go on first listen, but with Boom I needed a few more listens 😆 Go might grow on you, but I think the chorus might be a little too aggressive for some people (thanks Jeno)

the biggest thing about the kpop industry that really gets to me is seeing non black people braid their hair as Chenle had done. you see it in countless MVs and it's just not good. appropriation at its finest. what a bop but that is always so cringe to see.
