Collagraphy is a really versatile printing process in which a textured plate is inked up and put through a press. Different textures hold varying amounts. of ink and print different tones. Anything with a low relief texture can be stuck down and used: wallpaper, leaves, fabrics, tapes and threads etc

This is absolutely fabulous and inspiring! I recently was trying to combine drypoint with collagraph and ran into disappointments because the collagraph has an embossed edge and so does the drypoint plate and I was using wet paper so of course that’s going to happen. So my question for you is… Is your paper wet? If not, I had no idea that drypoint would print like that on dry paper.😮 what kind of paper is it all printed on?
I’m also working on a Lino shape as this video popped up and looking for a background, and that idea of drypoint would make an absolutely wonderful background instead of just carving the lino for a background. So this is incredibly great timing! Thank you so much!
Your abstract landscape is so so inspiring as well. I start out trying to be abstract and end up being traditionally realistic in the end, which is a bit frustrating.… But you inspired me to keep trying.😊

@@CollagraphPrinting I hate to be a pest, but I am really new at this and taking a class. So do I have it right that you printed the mono print and let it dry and then wet it again before doing the Lino shapes and drypoint?

@@laurasapko8424 not at all, they are all very valid questions. I wet the paper before I did any printing and didn’t wait for it to dry until I finished. Some ink does come off to the newsprint as you will see in the video but it doesn’t deteriorate the quality I find. Hope this helps!

@@CollagraphPrintingOh!! Got it get everything ready for continual printing! I don’t have Yupo paper (yet) so I was going to g to try the background on my gel plate or plexi - it just didn’t occur to me to wet it for the mono print and then continue 😮 that is sooo helpful! Thank you!

@@rosemaryrayner5897 hello there, glad you feel inspired! I am exhibiting currently at the Minories in Colchester, The Bank Gallery in Eye and others are outside of Suffolk. The I think the galleries mentioned are closed Monday and Tuesday. Are you local?
