Dawn breaks over Yellowstone's Lamar Valley, the crisp autumn air carrying the first hint of winter's approach. A thin mist rises from the frost-kissed grass, swirling around the massive, dark shapes that emerge from the fading shadows. The bison have arrived, their breath steaming in the cool morning light.
These living relics of the American West move with a deceptive grace, their shaggy coats catching the early sunlight like burnished bronze. A bull, his massive head crowned with curved horns, leads the herd across the valley floor. His hooves, surprisingly delicate for such a behemoth, leave imprints in the soft earth, each step a connection to an ancient past.
As the sun climbs higher, it illuminates the changing foliage that frames the valley. Aspens shimmer in shades of gold, their trembling leaves a stark contrast to the bison's stolid presence.
