  • The now submerged area was originally used for drying salt. In the mid-1970s the salt-fields closed and were developed into a resort facility named ‘Kashino Green Farm (鹿忍グリーンファーム). At the time of opening it had about 30 cottages, a few tennis courts and a golf driving range among other facilities. It was also equipped with a drainage system to remove accumulated rainwater. This stopped working after the resort closed in the mid-2000s. Between 2011 and 2014 rainwater began to accumulate gradually, eventually submerging 8 of the 9 remaining building, the rest had been demolished earlier on, and several vehicles.
