We sold our home on Lake Vermilion 13 years ago. Wish we still had it! Beautiful lake and endless places to catch multiple species. Sometimes hard to fish but you always make it look easy!
Finally someone puts out a video where it’s basic fishing tips for the guy that doesn’t have forward facing sonar on their boat. The TH-cam fishing content is super flooded with ffs. Great video and such a nice low key resort that I will be looking into for a future fishing trip.
Thanks so much for going old school on this. Hard to believe I am calling side image old school! I would like to get forward live imaging, however, we have fished for years without. I do have side imaging and I love how you break that down! Impressive video so I Subscribed!
Tom & Mitchell: thanks for another excellent video. Lake Vermillion took me back to fishing this lake with my uncle from Tower, MN years ago. It is a beautiful lake and the video shots are impressive. I hope you will cover Lake Vermillion again soon like when you fish Leech Lake. Watching you guys catch eater size walleys and having a fish fry was enjoyable.
Watched this while eating perch. Used crunchy catch and cook…..first time using a premade coating in a lot of years! Kinda impressed by it and oh yeah great vid!! That time of season where I can hear the grouse drumming while fishing. Time for the shotgun. I can’t believe I seen a stringer of dead eater walleyes on the channel. Awesome to see responsible harvesting.
Only channel I watch now and Walleye Now app is icing on the cake. Just bought a place on Mille Lacs so if ever in my neighborhood Tom and Mitchell I'd be more than happy to hire your guide service skills :)
This channel has helped me get back into fishing, I can't thank you enough. Big shout out from Canada 🇨🇦 love the content. Come on over this way and try our northern lakes out we would love to see you eh. Cheers.
Ive learned a lot from you but ive never thought of this its fire and I don't know why I never thought of it i fish the Mississippi River a lot and the biggest ive got was 32.75 inches and a 18.5 inch girth went 13.5 pounds but was trolling Berkeley flicker minnows number 9s in 30 ft of water keep the videos coming love it!!!!
Buddy and I fished Lake Vermillion a few years back. In fact, we stayed at the same lodge, in the same cabin, used the same boat dock and cleaned fish in the same fish house. Very unique body of water. Just like Canada with huge rocky outcrops and structure galore. Found real deep water on northeast side of the lake where the water was 10 feet deep and a boat length out it dropped to 60 feet. Fun to fish. The McMansions were impressive with float planes up on lifts out in front. Would go back monthly if it was not so far from Rhinelander. Will make it back someday and stay at the same place. Rustic but functional and the bay there offers protection for your boat if the wind starts howling!
Its nice to see a video tom for guys that dont have $200000 worth equipment .. and just keeping it simple also the person that said they didnt know Mitchel was along that wasn't a problem for me even though he seems like a super guy i have know problem watching you videos when you run alone your content is some of the best for fishing out there jim
I stayed at Everett Bay Lodge the same time you and Mitchell were up there, Darrell and his wife Debbie are amazing people and make you feel welcome, definitely staying there again in the future.
I bottom bouncer with my own homemade spinner rigs 90 percent of the time I haven't used metal blades for a couple of years and where I'm fishing there isn't to many rocks ect to snag on so I use a 1 Oz Lindy rig weight and a mylar blade and a little colored float along with beads and alot of times I just drag that weight in the mud or sand and the float keeps the bait suspended so less snags and the walleyes seem to come to investigate the stirred up mud and take the bait wouldn't work in rocks but soft bottom it seems better for bigger fish.
You that tilt shift zoom in the intro, thats sick Mitchell. But for real though I love this style of video. It has that, fishing trip experience to it. Mitchell let me known when you need an apprentice for your editing lol
Fish the Big V 2 times a year for a week at a time. I learned a LONG time ago bring everything. Plan to fish everyway possible. Unless you have some intel that gives you the edge. I was up there 2 weeks ago came home Labor Day weekend. We fished Lead line, trolled shallow but ended up landing on the spinners with minnows. Funny thiing is we put the rods in the holders and let them hook themselves and seem to do better than most. But either way works
Please do much more filming on Lake Vermillion!!! It is such a huge body of water and rather unique compared to the mud bowls that are so many of the other large MN walleye lakes.
Once my current bottom bouncers get all rusty I’m going to switch to this setup. If tied right, you can easily swap out weights instead of bottom bouncers of all different weights. Just bring your box of weights.
I couldn't agree with you more Joel. I grew up on Rainy Lake. Half of my family is in International Falls, MN, and the other half across the bridge in Fort Frances, ON. My grandparents owned a fishing resort off the Trans Canada Hwy (Four Winds Resort) at Reef Point Rd. Also, Roste's bakery in Fort Frances. I didn't know how spoiled I was growing up on what might easily be the best Walleye & Bass Lake in the world. The very reason that they hold the Canadian Bass Championship on Rainy Lake. That's not easy for me to say either; as I'm currently at my cabin looking out at Hay Bay, Bay of Quinte. Also, known for some of the best Walleye fishing in Ontario... Cheers Bud. 🤟🎣
That’s my gripe about vermillion. They are all little. Few and far between finding anything big walleye. It gets old only catching 13”-16” walleyes so so many small fish. Looses its draw for me.
all that money on a boat ect. & you drink cheap coffee haaaaa! just kiddin im just messin with you ....i recommend blackout or Crockett coffee they suport conservative values not liberal / communists ... i should send you some of my Scoops beer Ice jigz and swim spoonz i gave one to Ron Schara at a gas station one day and Babe Winkleman called me on some lakeshore I was selling so I told him he's gtting a few if I ever get up there

I have fished lake vermilion when Canada was closed due to covid. It is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!! my screen saver is from this trip
For sure ... Gorgeous lake!

I mean he's got probably 100k there. Not much of an advantage between a 100k and 200k rig.
Agreed. 🍻
Always try to mix it up. Thanks for watching
I stayed at Everett Bay Lodge the same time you and Mitchell were up there, Darrell and his wife Debbie are amazing people and make you feel welcome, definitely staying there again in the future.
Absolutely! Looking forward to going back up!
Great content and explanation of how you are rigging and what your looking for the structure great video, thank to both you great camera video
Love the videos learning a lot, but I was wondering if you answer questions about figuring out other mn lakes. Thanks, Jim
Great video Tom & Mitchell!👍
Love that style of fishing ❤
Agreed. My father always said... "Keep it simple stupid". 🍻

It took nine minutes before we heard anything from Mitchell. I was starting to think he left his microphone at home.😂
Those little eyes are the best to eat. My favorite. Older fish can taste kind of funky.
They sure were tastey
Love your videos and I have learned a lot, but you have a to “up” your coffee game. It may even help ya snag a few more! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the bottom bouncer instruction
Thanks for watching
I launched at that landing the same day you were fishing in this video 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
You guys should do a shore fishing video for us who do not own boats

I love eating walleye. They are in my top 2 favorite fish to eat. I need to go catch some in a few weeks
How fast are you trolling with this setup
1.4 to 1.7 is what was showing when he was showing the side imaging on the fish finder
What knot are you using for your hook knot?
Nice to see a video I can use without buying 10k worth of electronics to make it work.
Great job on this, ! Ya must have hired a video editing service so you have more time to fish, seems well edited
Please do much more filming on Lake Vermillion!!! It is such a huge body of water and rather unique compared to the mud bowls that are so many of the other large MN walleye lakes.
Great video. What model Simms bibs and how are they holding up?
Pro dry bibs... Best there is
Pulling a small original floating Rapala that way works pretty good too.
What camp hoodie are you wearing?
Lindy has sinkers that will keep your spinner at 6 inches to a foot. The one I have floats up at a foot.
I do like those!
Let’s gooo
What rod were you using Tom?
Tom, what did you coat your fish with?
What about leeches at this time of years vs crawlers?
any chance you doin fall brawl and walleye slam at erie this year?
Great content…quick question…maybe I missed it…how fast you trolling? Thank you
1.4
At what speed were you ?
1.5 mile ?
Old school! Thanks!
love fishin 3 ways!
Best lake in the country!
Once my current bottom bouncers get all rusty I’m going to switch to this setup. If tied right, you can easily swap out weights instead of bottom bouncers of all different weights. Just bring your box of weights.
Awesome fish
Looks delicious but you are in serious need of a coffee sponsor. #blackriflecoffee where you at? Take care of our guys.
Black rifle is run by liberals
He's drinking the best coffee on the market bruh... #Folgers ☕
If you like lake Vermilion you should come up and try Rainy Lake. It’s like Vermilion on steroids and way more scenic and beautiful.

You live my dream life.

Been so long since I cleaned a fish forgot to do it
I wish Vermilion was not so far away ..
When are you gonna start letting subscribers go fishing with you?

Your intros are way too long and I lose interest in your video before you even start fishing. I liked her earlier videos a lot better.
