I recently purchased at 2017 i3 and love it! I have put almost 800 miles on the car and spent zero at the gas pump. The vat is so fun to drive. Did I mention that I love it!!
This is EASILY the best car money can buy right now. Used of course, you’ll be on your way to no gas!!! Actually EXTREMELY reliable on top of that which Is VERY important. Literally every single thing about the car will make you smile!
For one that old, rather get the REX model. The range extender (a little built-in generator) means you double your range and you can always put in more gasoline. The latest ones have twice the battery size and more than double the range.
I want to car so much! But keep wondering... Would it be wise to buy a car of 2014-16 with the years and degradation.... Could the battery still be good? Or is it buying and battery dead in a year or 2... Any suggestions?
There are tests you do to check the battery for degradation.. What harms a battery the most is too much level 3 charging, charging to 100% every time and heat .. If the earlier models still have at least 17kw to 16.5kw left, the battery is in excellent condition because the battery only had 18.7kw of usable power when new. These are 22kw batteries but only 18.7kw are usable.. The 2015 and 2016 models still have battery warranties, the 2014 models ended this year.
I drive 65 miles to the exact, it’s like 64.7. With a range of 80, that is with a good light foot right? I would just hate to be stranded within miles of my home
depend on what model year.. The 2017 to 2018 models have a 33kw battery for a total range of about 110 miles. The 2019 to 2021 model have a 44kw battery for a total range of 150 miles.. The 2014 to 2016 model have a 22kw battery for a total of 80 miles.. You can get any of these with a REx and that will charge the battery and hold the charge while you drive and it will extend the range.. Keep in mind that the older models will have some minor battery degrading, an early model with 17.5kw to 16.5kw of usable battery power is excellent because out of the original 22kw, only 18.7 was usable to the driver when the car was new. Running the heater, air conditioning, heavy loads, driving fast and climbing hills will drain the battery also.. So, you should be fine with doing 80 miles in a day especially if you can charge at work or at your destination.
hmm.. Only the passenger cell and the lid on the rear engine is carbon fibre, the rest of the car is plastic and the bottom is aluminum.. Very light weight car, too light in some situations when there is head or side wind. If you're gonna be doing 80mph on the freeway, its better to have some extra weight in the back such as some luggage because with the added weight the car handles like a dream BMW!!!
Whats the steering like on an i3? Im currently on a Merc C Class 2012 and the steering is pretty light and I like it like that. I went back to a BMW 1 series 2009 and it was heavy on the steering in comparison. Whats the i3 Like on steering anyone know?
Yes, especially if you get one with the REx or if not, just make sure you can plug the car in at work or at your destination. Remember, the faster you drive, have the heater on or air conditioning on the faster the battery will drain. Also, the range will drop in very cold weather.. So, if you're getting a 2014 to 2016 version, make sure it has the REx on it.. The 2017 to 2018 versions have a bigger battery and the 2019 to 2021 versions have an even bigger battery.
when have heard anything German electric appliances i.e. tv's, blue ray players, amplifiers, computers to be popular, or cars to be reliable for that matter, their cars last 50k miles if your are lucky, and when they brake they cost hundreds, even thousands to fix. maybe it Toyota made the same car that would be different. my Toyota echo has 300k.

I’m saving up for mine doing lots of research around 6k to go 🤩 so far most of the people that have one love it
I love that i3 no need for the rex at all it's just fun to drive!
What makes this i3 example so desirable is that it still has the original front removable cup holder!

It's a very unique car... excellent driving experience. Used to be very cheap but now you'll have to pay more
Yeah its still going for roughly 22k here in Canada...despite it being like 8-9 years old now

But don’t you have to get oil changes and filter changes? Kinda makes it annoying to think about it
The price is one of the most intriguing aspects about this automobile.
I have one almost a year great car for what it was designed for needs to get programmed to get best use out of it
Great video. You sold me!!!!
You have fast charging ccs combo on this model ?
You have fast charging combo 50kw ? On this model ?

Great review of the i3 Chad!
U can tell he knows nothing about this car, the body is all carbon fiber.
The shell. Not the body. Panels are not carbon fiber

its a BMW, so the steering is light and precise, lots of feedback.
I do 62mi a day you think its worth it?

Yeah but then you have to drive an Echo. They’re a good cure for insomnia, and that’s about it.
Unfinished carbon fiber ..
