    This has quickly become my favorite game of all time. My son and I have been playing this together. The thrill of finishing a story, and opening up the secret box to see what mini we are going to be fighting next has been nothing short of epic. Everything I've ever wanted in a board game.

      On chapter 3 and I agree. Absolutely loving every aspect of it. The story integrating into the encounter is amazing. Love the app. Like how you can meticulously plan for an attack but reactions add an element of chaos too. Animus/battleflow/gear all work super well, and forcing you to switch some gear every level up keeps things interesting. Lots of strategy in the battle with great distinction between the characters - the Cur’s my boy!

    59:58 Note: You can't play the pig iron coat for additional defense against an attack like you can with ability cards. It just provides your starting defense and that's it. That's why it doesn't have a 'no animus' symbol. If an armor has defense but no other abilities, just turn it face down for the fight as its already done its job.

      Items with no cooldown
      number are used once per
      encounter and are placed
      face down on the table
      when used.

    At 1:00:00. I believe the Pig Iron Coat 'is' your 3 defence. You can't 'play' your Pig Iron Coat to add another 3 defence to the 3 defence you already have from it.

    At 13 I discovered solo Fighting Fantasy gamebooks (specifically, Warlock of Firetop Mountain), it both blew and opened my mind to fantasy and gaming and I was immediately hooked. Now, at 53, I have come full circle with Oathsworn (which I solo with 2 Oathsworn and 2 Companions) and I am reliving that same rush from 40 years ago. The level and depth of detail to every aspect of this game's production is astounding, as are the immersion in both the Story and Encounter phases. In my eyes, its a masterpiece.

      @TheBrothersMurph And thank you for the entertaining and informative playthrough. If it was me being filmed playing, it would be just spates of me staring intensely at a card for 20 minutes... then picking up a different card. Rinse and repeat.

    This is super cool. Thanks for showing it. Really feels like a turn based RPG PC game brought to the table.

    Your experience with the yellow deck was hilarious. I have that problem everytime I empower to get some blacks going and I whiff. Happens with my witch whenever I’m bout to make a splash. So much so that now misses in every game my wife always says wow really witched that

    Love your videos and this play through.
    Just a quick question/comment: I believe you might be using the pig iron coat incorrectly. Your character’s total defense is the sum of all their item’s armor ratings. You don’t have to “play” the pig iron coat card to receive this defense, you just have it by wearing the armor. The only time you have to play item cards is to gain the special abilities they have. I’m basing this off of page 7 of the Story rule book but I could be mistaken.

    • @TheBrothersMurph
      @TheBrothersMurph  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah we definitely set our base defense off of that and our understanding was we could play the card for like an extra boost of defense but we could very well have just messed that rule up.

    • @mgrund883
      @mgrund883 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBrothersMurphI know you can do that with the defense tokens but wasn’t sure about playing the armor card that way. I’ve only completed the first chapter and I know I messed up a ton of the rules so there’s a more-than-fair chance I’m mistaken. But, props again on the videos, I really dig your content.

      Yeah you can play ability cards for the defence boost at the bottom, but item cards you can only play for their ability - in this instance you've already "got" the defence from the Pig Iron Coat, and it doesn't have an ability so there's nothing you can do with it during an encounter. A really enjoyable game though, thanks for sharing.@@TheBrothersMurph

    few rules questions that I have, I have the game but not played it yet, just read the rulebook! So might be wrong, When an attack is missed, do you not get to choose a token (something about determination to do better next time)? I have the 2nd edition, unsure if that's a change since first, and I thought I read that items still go into cooldown on a full character, only that they do not cause battle flow.

      also you did not move onto stage 3 attacks, hopefully you pick this up before the end of the next video or when you move on to the next few chapters

      @@NumNutz66 I just prefer clean, elegantly designed games. And this is not that. It seems fiddly, clumsy, and bloated. In my opinion.

    • @NumNutz66
      @NumNutz66 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@WhatsDaveUpTo that’s a fair assumption of the game for sure. It can absolutely have you opening the rules book mid play to check a rule and has many components. However I have never so far played a more rich and engaging story driven campaign game. The game wouldn’t be half the game it is without a certain amount of “bloat”.

      Yea sometimes people can’t handle more thematic adventures that would sometimes require more rules.
