This is such and amazing song. Now this is the Jolene easy guitar strumming version this is not a fingerpicking lesson. I will have to make a separate video for that one since that’s a bit more intermediate in skill level.
So I will take you through the guitar chords used in Jolene and then go over a few strumming patterns from easiest to hardest that you can try adding on the top of the chord progressions. The cool things about Jolene is that there is an interesting timing on one of the chords where you only play it for 2 beats instead of 4. Very very cool sound.

I do find that for me it’s a lot easier to focus more on rhythm and timing rather than trying to get all the Down/Ups right. I’ve tried the method of trying to get the Down/Ups exactly right and it only slows me up but when I see the Chords and focus on Rhythm and Timing then it turns out a lot better way for me to learn. In doing so, I obviously don’t play all the Down/Ups exactly the correct way but naturally get the Rhythm to the song and the Timing and then notice that I automatically play most of the Down/Ups anyway but without thinking of trying to do that concept.

Hi there. I took guitar lessons in high school 35 years ago and was at the bottom of the class. Up until I found your video yesterday, I could not strum properly. I watched your video and played along and I would say within one hour - after Listening to your instructions, I can now strum to this song. I now can’t sing and strum at the same time. This could be an idea for future lessons 😂 long and short of it- you are an amazing teacher!!!!

Strumming,I find is the most difficult for me to stick to ( the same pattern). My wrist seems to have a mind of its own!! ( not always a good mind!!)

Yes, I dislocated my finger last year. It's my splint. I forgot it had it on.
