Love this Brumby/Brat. I owned a 1986 in the U.S. that I gave to my brother-in-law in Mexico. He used it for high school and in turn, gave it to his father after graduation. To this day, my father-in-law still drives it in a small town/pueblito with cobblestone streets in central Mexico.
I am in America, and I am painting a Subaru brat right now, and badging it as a Brumby. So a left hand drive brumby. I am going to get a bull bar sent over to go on the front and get some Brumby decals.
Nobody's "destroying" an old brat, more than scrapping a rusted out shell, we all know that's what happens and all the old ones that have been sitting out in lots uncovered are rusted away now. I saved a few. I cut one Brat up with a sawzall (rusted beyond saving) and took it to the metal recycler in the back of another Brat, one time. Nice EJ car, love it!
Man that car is amazing and the more you watch it the more little things you notice that are just amazing about it. It has a lot of character. For some reason I have seen that blow off valve type on other cars but it sounds so different on this car sounds really good.
I am over the pon in US, and own a 85 BRAT and own a 91 Legacy Sport Sedan with the ej22t. Someday they will become 1. Also own a 97 SVX curtrently, and have had over 6 or 7 of the Legacy Sport Sedans with the EJ22T
The best part about this Brats was riding in the back seats and hanging on for dear life to the pistol grip handled bars because there were no seat belts back there. Ha, Ha, Ha!
Connor McIntyre the Legacy/Liberty was after the Leone an if McRay an Ringer didn't win the Rally on Nz they would have stayed with the Model as part of the Honour an Beliefs of the Japanese Culture. I Love an think this video for keeping these beasts cheers
I have the same brat!! 1980 right? I was gonna make it a lowrider but now I kinda want to turbo it!! It's the same paint and everything!! My issue is NOTHING is compatible with it!!
I’m looking at buying a Brumby in australia and i was wondering if the rear seats were street legal, i have been looking everywhere and couldn’t get a definitive answer

I had a friend who had one of these, He always referred to the back seats as the wife and mother in law seats although never in there presence
Hahahha classic!!!
i just bought one today its so much fun
@@speckofdirt2670 how much do these things go for these days? Is there a market for them or are they relatively cheap?

nobody mentioned doing handbrake slides in the leones handbrake being oin the front brakes, it was different.
From what subaru did you get the fog lights with the mechanical covers

Awesome video!

I had an '85 and there WERE seat belts.
The leone is actually the successer to the impreza, Thats why the wrx motor fits so well in the Brat.

I've been looking for that air dam for at least a YEAR now! The things I'd do for it...
What kind of car was it originally made for?

Subaru Kicks, so cool! 👞 👟 👡 👢 🥿 👠
So good!!! 👍🏻
Got any pics of the chassis rail cut to clear timing/cam covers?
Any chance there is a way I could get in contact with the brumby owner.. I have a brumby/Brat and I have a multitude of questions for him.

Would I have seen this car on the lawn of a property in East Maitland??? Can't be too many brumbys out there done up as brat replicas.

We are also not sure mate, best to speak direct to the person inspecting your car.
He said it was an ej205 out of a bugeye, not an ej22t... not the same engine. It's a seriously cool car, but the title is misleading.
Thanks mate 👌🏻
Suuuweeeet!
The skylights make it look like they’re in a helicopter.
